  1. The salesman told me I would have to pay 3 months before I could pay it off & retain the free servicing deal - not true!! After reading other forum members posts I signed up for finance & paid it off within the 14 day cooling off period. Before doing so I contacted Skoda finance & got a confirmation email that paying it off wouldn't stop the free deal. They charge a daily interest rate if you cancel within the cooling off period - I think it cost me £9. I have already had my first free service so it does work.
  2. Had my car over a year now & would never have thought this was the way to input a house number. My TomTom goes the logical route of once you have a street name it asks you for a house number if there are any available. Just another quirk of an expensive in car sat nav. Just tried it on my Amundsen & it works - thanks for the info.
  3. It must be me, but with the potential of breakage & all the faffing about to achieve a little brighter light which is only on for seconds - can't see the point.
  4. I have a 1.4TSi with DSG and have not had what you describe as trembles. It is very smooth even when not used for a while. How old is your car & how many miles has it done? If it is that noticeable I would suggest your dealer has a look at it. My previous car was also a 1.4TSi with DSG & for the 3 years I owned it there were no problems with the DSG.
  5. Had my car over a year now & coolant level is fine & haven't had to top it up. Have you noticed any leaks below the car? Might be a good idea to have a look under the engine bay to see if there are any telltale signs of coolant. I would monitor it for a few days, keeping an eye on the level & if it does drop a visit to the dealer is called for.
  6. The dealer has little control over the wait time so telling him you want it earlier will probably get you nowhere. If you order & want a 15 plate and it arrives in January do you want the dealer to store it until March & if you are taking finance or have a p/ex then what???? I agree with "pipsyp" after 6 months it's an old reg. If you want the car get it ordered & when you get it enjoy it & forget what's on the reg plate.
  7. Does it work on your car? I have similar model except 1.4TSi & it doesn't work on mine. Or do you have to get it enabled?
  8. Well documented problem with Octy 2 & still to a lesser extent the Octy 3. There are some suggestions in the forums as to how to reduce it, one was clear plastic door protectors slid on the hatch edges which diverts water. I just opened the hatch more slowly to let the water drain before it flooded into the boot. You could wipe the excess water away with your hand before opening the hatch - a bit messy though.
  9. +1 No issues with my 1.4TSi with DSG & just a year old. I did add the extended warranty just in case. My previous Octy2 was same spec & no problems with that either in 3+ years.
  10. Page 209 in the manual. VW507 spec - 4.6litres.
  11. I agree with Nookiebear - why would you want to stick chicken wire held in place with sealant behind your grille!!! I think that guy had worked on a Russian Tupolev plane I flew on a while ago. It appeared to have wallpaper stuck on the cabin walls & the seats were held together with Duck tape. At least you know how to remove the grille now.
  12. I had resisted temptation, however when it went in for it's first service it came back reset. I assumed it was done to set the next service interval. No big deal though.
  13. I changed my Mk2 for a Mk3 with same spec - 1.4TSi Elegance with a DSG. The build quality is far superior & although I don't drive it hard the engine has all the power I need. I am no mechanic but the engine just sounds & feels more refined. The car is almost 1 year old & is averaging 50mpg as compared to the Mk2 which gave about 45mpg.
  14. The first warning shows 2 cars with an exclamation mark between them on the maxidot screen when you get close to the vehicle in front. Just narrow the gap between you & vehicle in front & it should show up. To be on the safe side try it with a friend driving in front who knows what you are doing. This will tell you if the system is active & working.
  15. Not so clever when I want to open the bonnet when the car is in the garage & not enough room to open the passenger door to get access to the boot release handle.
  16. I got a set as a freebie when I bought the car,but if I hadn't this would have been ideal. The large net is very useful so for a fiver why wouldn't you get one.
  17. I had this when I first started using the wipers from new. Took it to local dealer who couldn't replicate it in the workshop so said nothing was wrong. I asked them to adjust the arm on it's spindle but they refused. Others suggested a thorough clean of the windscreen using white vinegar mixed with water & then rubbing with newsprint. This worked for me & no problems since - in fact I now use this method for the windscreen all the time. Whatever was on the screen caused the wiper to stick & when it released it started to hit the A pillar. Try it you might find it works for you also.
  18. That should read "you might get a letter". I didn't & nor did others & was told by Skoda that as it's on computer they don't send out letters. It wasn't until others posted on here that the 1st so called service is just an oil change!!
  19. Exactly the same parts used, but they have your cash for the warranty as an extra. If you don't go for it at order they may never sell you a warranty in the future. Like others with the DSG I opted for it for peace of mind.
  20. I have entered that postcode into my Amundsen & it certainly doesn't direct me to Bristol Airport. When I searched Google maps it gives the same location as my sat nav, however the last main road on the journey is the A4174 & that has the road name "Airport Road". It's some distance from the airport & not a direct route to the airport. Are you confusing the road name believing it to be at or near the airport? If it still directs you exactly to the airport I would suggest the sat nav data is corrupt & if that's the case maybe a trip to the dealer is required.
  21. Did you get a price by any chance? I would have got them if there had been an option when I bought the car, but didn't want to pay for auto parking just to get the sensors.
  22. Not really noticed what you describe as a stutter, but the pronunciation of some places & roads can be a bit baffling at times. I used a TomTom sat nav before the inbuilt car one & never had a problem understanding place names with that. Might be worth listening to another one, maybe local dealer has one in a car & you could then compare. If there is a problem with yours you would be then in the ideal place to fault it with the dealer.
  23. Upgrading cars is like buying the latest computer - by next week it's out of date. If you had to wait for the latest upgrade you will wait forever. A reversing camera would be OK to have but reversing sensors do the job for me & I've had my car a year almost. Also I got front assist & many have not - so you win some you lose some.
  24. Mine does the same, so maybe it's a new feature. I wouldn't accept what the dealer tells you is correct until you have read the manual, their product knowledge can be quite poor at times.
