  1. Not had that message but mine often tells me there's an update but takes a week to actually do it.
  2. I've never found any either.
  3. My Kamiq does it. More when parked on my sloping drive but still does it when parked on level ground sometimes. I complained to the dealer about it and they said it was perfectly normal! In 50+ years of car ownership it's the first car I've had that does it. I wonder about the long term effects on the bottom of the doors re corrosion.
  4. Not keeping a car for very long is a recipe for being hit with depreciation. Buying new and trading it in after a year, or less, is probably the worse for depreciation; but, as you've found out, nearly new and sell after a short time can be pretty bad too. Main dealer margins are probably the worst for this. Is just the way it works. Don't buy an electric car, or you will be suicidal when you try to sell it.
  5. The problem with all the ones that don't cover the steering wheel completely is that the baddies can just cut a piece out the steering wheel really easily and remove them. We had that happen to my wife's car outside our home. We then bought a Disklock for the replacement car and have used it since. It is quite heavy & cumbersome but is pretty secure. You soon get used to using it. Ours is also yellow so is a very visible deterrent. All these things just buy you time if the thieves are determined enough to take your car they will. We are just trying to make ours less attractive to them.
  6. That isn't correct. Some adaptors do only pass voltage and are designed for charging things only. Most adaptors nowadays pass data also. Just ensure if you buy one that it mentions data or similar in it's description, or ask the seller.
  7. Check the wattage of the bulb you replaced is exactly the same as old one. I put a normal 21/5 stop tail bulb in my Octavia and warning light stayed on. I then found out that they use 21/4 watt bulbs and that one watt makes a difference.
  8. The Government seem clueless about most forms of technology and just swallow what the tech companies tell them and then throw all their eggs in one basket. How many times have they been ripped off with failed IT systems? BT/Openreach in particular have had a very easy ride.
  9. Mine is the same. I've even tried charging the battery fully and it still works when it feels like it. I got the dealer to look at it on the last service and they said it was operating correctly. Bizarre thing is that it works more often at night with the lights on than during the daytime. Just really weird.
  10. The way I understand it is that if you don't take the 25% as a lump sum, then each time you take some out 25% of that is tax free. This is assuming that you are leaving it as a pot of money and drawing down some as you need it. If you're buying an annuity I'm not sure, but annuity rates are criminally low. If you have a decent sized pot it's really worth paying for some financial advice as pensions are complex and you only usually get one bite of the cherry.
  11. Dealer says there isn't a problem. It is worse when I park on my sloping drive, which is most of the time. Water dribbles out when I open the door, both drivers side & passenger side do it. Had an Octavia previously and never had the problem with that. I just wonder about the long term and if the bottom of the doors will rot. In other posts some dealers have said the doors are wax sealed so it won't be a problem. I hope they are correct.
  12. I'd like it if the doors didn't fill up with water while it's parked and hold it there until you open the door. Dealer says it's fine but never had a car do it before.
  13. Not sure if this helps but these cars use a slightly unusual twin filament bulb. It's a type 566 and is 21w/4w. If you put a more conventional 21w/5w one in it will work but the warning light stays on.
  14. Pretty sure they wind back. Was a few years ago that I changed my rear pads but don't remember it being difficult. Probably the clue to whether they do need winding back is if the pistons have a slot in them or not.
  15. Nor do I normally but got 2 services included with purchase deal. Foolishly thought it meant I wouldn't get a big bill for a couple of years.
  16. Service prices are crazy. Quoted £34 to adjust handbrake while car is already in for routine service. £324 to change just the front brake pads!
  17. I was going to buy my year old Kamiq with cash but salesman explained the deal you get with finance. Two services, one worth £199 and one £299. I opted for smallest amount I could have on finance over shortest time (18 months) so interest cost will be about £130. Seemed to be a no brainer to me. £500 worth of servicing for £130, less if you pay the loan off earlier.
  18. Ours is exactly the same. Our old Octavia you could set it to 20C and never have to touch it again, summer or winter. Kamiq heating not so good. Last time our car was in for repair the garage collected it and when I got it back the driver had turned off the Auto function and had set the heating to feet and face level. He obviously didn't think much of the Auto function either.
  19. This is from the "book"- Availability of a mobile network is indispensable for establishing a connection to the emergency number. WARNING This emergency service is only available in some countries. WARNING If the vehicle is located in an area without a functioning emergency call system infrastructure, no vehicle data shall be transmitted to the emergency call centre. After the start of the conversation, the emergency call centre also contains information as to the accident location and the severity of the accident, the number of occupants with seatbelts on and the vehicle identification number (VIN). Once the connection has been established, communication with the emergency call centre takes place via the loudspeaker and microphone installed in the vehicle. Personal data Personal customer data is collected, processed and used by ŠKODA AUTO in accordance with the provisions of the generally binding legal provisions in the area of personal data protection. The current declaration on the protection of personal data can be found on the following website: https://www.skoda-auto.com/other/personal-data. Serious accident - automatic call In the event of an accident where the airbag or belt tensioner activates, a call is automatically started with the emergency call centre. Minor accident - call option The Infotainment screen displays the option to set up a connection to the emergency call centre or breakdown service. Manual call › Keep the key pressed down. › Confirm the connection to the emergency call centre in the Infotainment screen. › To cancel the connection to the emergency call centre before starting the call, press the button again or confirm the cancellation of the connection in the Infotainment screen. Starting a manual conversation can then be used, for example, if you also report an accident in which you are not directly involved. Indicator light The system state is displayed after the ignition is switched on by the warning light A illuminating. ▶ Green - lit up - the system is functional. ▶ Green - flashing - a call is being made to the emergency call centre. ▶ Red - lit up - there is a system failure, immediately seek the help of a specialist garage. ▶ Not lit up - the system is out of order due to a long term unavailable mobile network, if this circumstance persists, the system will require the assistance of a specialist garage. WARNING If there is a system fault, no emergency call is possible
  20. My comparison to a mobile phone was in relation to the prices of each. I have a smart phone which cost less than £200 and does vastly more than the SOS module for a fifth of the price.
  21. I had my SOS module replaced in March after getting a message on speedo screen that the SOS functionality had stopped working. I had the message for a whole day but didn't get it again for weeks. Dealer looked at it and said module needed replacing and there was also a software update. Module wasn't available in December when they diagnosed it and waited till March for them to get one. Since the new module and the update I have had 'SOS call activated' appear a couple of times but only for a few seconds. Shockingly if you had to pay for the module they are over £900 +vat. Lot of money for something that is probably just a chip. You can buy a mobile phone for less than £20 for comparison.
  22. It's going to vary hugely depending on what car it is. I did one on my wife's diesel Peugeot 106 in about 3 hours, and a Ford XR2 one in about the same time but didn't do water pump on that one. A professional mechanic may have done it a bit quicker. I understand there are some Fiats where you virtually have to take the engine out to do it and people sell the car rather than pay for a cam belt replacement. So it's a bit of a "how long is a piece of string?" question.
  23. I am in the UK. Mine is a 2020 build that I bought when it was a year old. I did read the spec online and it seemed to include those lights on an SEL.
  24. I have it on mine. It's an SE L so came with it. I wouldn't have paid extra for it if it wasn't part of the spec. I'd try & get some money out of them and live without it.
