2020 Karoq Laura voice control
Laura is pretty hopeless at most things. Tell her to switch to BBC Radio 2 and she responds with "Do you mean Radio by Robbie Williams?", say no and she says "Do you mean Radio by the Corrs?" etc etc. I can get her to switch to LBC but Radio 2, 4, or 5 she very rarely manages. She will actually give examples of what you can say to her if you ask her. Giving her Sat Nav instructions is far from easy to but I use Waze anyway.

Linux Installation and usage chat
The current version will do that. A USB stick is probably better as not sure you could get the whole thing on a CD. Most versions of Linux can be run from a USB stick to try them on your PC. https://linuxmint.com

Kamig Rear Diffuser Colour
I have a 2020 Kamiq in white. Does anyone know the colour for the rear diffuser. It's a sort of cross between silver and bronze. It has a couple of scratches that I would like to touch up. I've searched online but can't find anything.

Laura and her lack of interest in me
It's not tied to having a subscription. It should work. However mine rarely understands my instructions, particularly trying to change the radio channel. She usually plays Robbie Williams song Radio instead.

Ignition barrel not turning
I had it happen on a Peugeot. I looked online for a solution and several suggested put the key in and give it a sharp tap on the end as if tapping it into the lock. One tap freed it off. I then lubricated the lock and it never happened again.

Autoglass repair, autoglass (now have to) replace
My insurance did cover the cost, I just paid £75 excess. I presumed the price on the invoice was what my insurance would be paying and was surprised how expensive it was.

Autoglass repair, autoglass (now have to) replace
I had mine replaced by Autoglass and it took a couple of hours. Was done on my insurance but was surprised how expensive it was to replace, almost £1100.

SOS error - is this normal?
My Kamiq comes up with the message occasionally. The Sat Nav and Android Auto work normally. Mine had the SOS module replaced under warranty which reduced how often it happened but it still does it occasionally. Mine seems to be geographical as there are certain roads I travel on where it often comes up with the SOS message. I wonder if it's related to the quality or lack of mobile phone signal.

Fabia brake pads and discs
A lot. A couple of years ago my dealer quoted £163 just to change the front pads so dread to think how much they would want to do discs too. There's nothing wrong with pattern discs and pads, some are probably better than factory ones, so using an independent garage would be more economical.

Has anyone changed their front brake pads on their Kamiq?
I've done mine. Not too difficult. The slide pins need an Allen key to remove them, I think it was 6mm but can't be certain. Thing to watch is when you put the slide pins back in. They are very easy to cross thread so make sure they are perfectly in line before you screw them in and only tighten them using your fingers until they are well in. There is a bit that sticks up on the bottom of the carrier that the caliper must be fitted inside to get the pins to line up properly. I can't remember what torque I used on the slider pins, 20Nm comes to mind but worth doing a search online to check.

Boost reversing lights?
I think you will run into problems with the sensors that detect a blown bulb (CANBUS?). I agree that the reversing lights are poor.

Seat help - new car and seats murder my back
My Kamiq seats were a problem for my back and I tried various commercial solutions without success. The thing that worked was a small piece of sponge behind my bum, only about 8 inches high and just less than the width of the seat. Keep the seat fairly upright too. Since using that I have had no back problems.

the truth about electric cars
The majority of people who buy a car do NOT buy a new car. Used electric cars seem even harder to sell than new ones, which is not really surprising as electric cars have a much more limited life than an ICE car. I have never bought a new car and usually buy a one or two year old car that has had some of the depreciation taken out of it. For this I get a car which feels virtually new and has many years of life left in it. Doing the same with an electric car would give me a much shorter life and the car would be virtually worthless at the end of the batteries life. We will be in a situation where there are thousands of perfectly good cars that are scrap just due to the batteries being too expensive to replace. It doesn't sound very ECO to me.

Dealer not covering blocked screenwash jets under warranty!!! Responses needed ASAP please :-(
Milton is less aggressive than bleach and very effective at cleaning things like that.

Two pictures…almost 60 years apart
I just fancied a change. I bought those wheels in the mid 70's and they have been very good. Still have the originals in storage, well the hubs at least. Have changed/upgraded many other things over the years. Newest improvement was an Alton electric start kit.

Battery question
Where did you get this information? "Regenerative Braking" is a feature on Electric cars. I have never heard of such a thing on a ICE car.

Kamiq Start Stop Issues
Mine usually does stay off when it is working but I have had the same as you get where it goes off for 2 seconds and engine restarts. Very rarely though. Most times it just does nothing and the little 'A' with a cross through it lights up on the dash.

Kamiq Start Stop Issues
Mine hardly ever works. I do a fair amount of shorter trips admittedly but even when I charge the battery fully with a charger it doesn't work consistently. While it was under warranty I asked the dealer to check it and they said it was fine. Bizarrely it is more likely to work at night when the lights are on. I suspect that the "intelligent" charging on the car isn't that intelligent. I'm not convinced it's such a great feature anyway so I just live with it.

How to select/dismiss messages from Waze shown on the Navi Screen.
If you just ignore it then it will disappear once you have passed whatever it is warning you about.

Advice On First Oil & Filter Change/Jacking points & Which Trolley Jack to buy?
Personally I prefer to use ramps for doing oil changes, or anything involving crawling under the car. I think they are safer and quicker.

Software Update Notifications - Dealer says ignore!
My understanding is that you don't get automatic map updates without paying for a connection but you do get software updates. My Kamiq has had a few updates and I don't subscribe to anything. It does often say there's an update available but takes days to actually do it though. You can update the maps manually though. Search on here for how to do it.

Corroded rear discs
The car was just over a year old when I bought it and the discs were quite rusty on the back. The pads were just using a thin strip in the centre of the disc. The dealers said they were "acceptable" but I didn't think they were. There are plenty of other posts on here with people having the same problem with their Kamiq at low mileages. My previous Skoda still had it's original discs at 124K miles. I decided to replace the discs and pads myself, as it is relatively easy to do if you are mechanically savvy, and avoid using Skoda parts. Since I have replaced them with some decent quality discs they have been fine. The quality of the metal on the original discs was very grainy and just looked poor.

Corroded rear discs
I had to replace the rear discs on my Kamiq at less than 20K miles. Are lot's of reports on here of similar stories and it seems the original Skoda discs are very poor quality, so don't build up your hopes that use will improve things. Mine certainly didn't get any better with use. I replaced mine with Brembo ones and they have stayed fine just as you would expect.

Rs seats very unomfortable. help!
Yes, standing up behind your bum. Just pushes you forward a bit in the seat. It's the width of the seat, about 8 inches high and 3 inches thick. It was sponge that came out of a dining chair seat when we reupholstered them and had new sponge. Everything I tried that was bigger made it worse and the lumbar adjustment doesn't seem to go in far enough even on it's minimum setting.
