  1. Hi All, I've been watching this thread with interest, I used to own a Superb and currently have an A6 Avant black edition on PCP. Having done the sums I've realised it doesn't make sense to pay off my A6 factoring depreciation and the final balloon payment plus extended warranty. I had not really considered PCH until recently as I never really thought it would be cost effective, I get a car allowance for work and very rarely keep cars for longer then 2 - 3 years so I think it makes sense plus allows me to keep my balloon payment money in my ISA. I've run through a lot of sums and calculations and this definitely appears the way for me to go over outright ownership, can someone help with answering the following: Like PCP - What happens if the car is written of early and their is a shortfull between the insurance company valuation and value of the car? Is there a principle of GAP insurance and if so would experienced PCH leasers take it? I've read you cannot take the car out of the country or may need to seek permission, I may be going skiing, summer holidays etc. Does this cause an issue Thanks for you help. I'm looking at the Kodiaq Edition 190 DSG and I've seen some very attractive deals
  2. Very nice, I'm thinking of trading in my superb elegance for a fully species one of these , I'm waiting till I see the VRs version thought.before I decide. There were a number of options I didn't select on the Superb that I regretted not getting so I may chop in for one of these.
  3. HI All, I'm back, as most of you may have heard I left in December to get the new Mazda 6 tourer. After constant delays and stalling on my order followed by a factory recall of the Mazda 6 I cancelled my order, the Mazda is sat somewhere in Germany awaiting parts from Japan that were on back order with no ETA. As they breached the contract the dealer has cancelled and given me my deposit back, funnily enough I was starting to regret the decision to trade in the Superb. I was looking at cars this week and couldn't find anything that really made me want to part with my money to be honest, looked at the new BMW 3 series M sport tourer and I have never been so dissapointed in a car for the money. 5 Series was more then I wanted to spend. The back problems aren't as bad as they were but it's still not perfect so I'm going to give it another few months. I've just ordered a brand new set of Hankook tyres and taxed it for another year so I will be sticking with her to the end of my hire contract at least, it really is a good well specced out car for the money I spent.
  4. I personally prefer the estate to the saloon, however having seen lots on the road the saloon has a certain presence you don't get with the estate. It seems to look bigger and almost limo like. On the other hand the new McLaren p1 is stunning, hopefully it will be a worthy successor to the f1 Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  5. Apparently nothing in common any more as they don't share parts anymore with Ford. The new sky active designs they are producing are winning lots of awards, so worth a try. I've done a lot of the premium brands, looked at the New bmw 320d m sport tourer, not very impressive at all and massively overpriced. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  6. Thanks del and hope you manage to sort it. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  7. Thanks for the heads up,I believe that's the old model Mazda 6 only, the new 2.2 is the one they introduced in the cx5 Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  8. The ST was just an outside idea for combining a bit of fun and practicality, given mpg, residual value and being over priced I decided against it. The fact they gave me an rep quote pretty much killed any chance they had of my business. As for the mazda they have good ratings for reliability from what I've read, the 2.2 has been fine in the cx5 so I will take a chance , every car has gremlins. I regularly see people commenting on DPF, Columbus dying etc which is unfortunate, every brand has it issues. Thanks superbrex, look forward to seeing you around p.s. what colours your superb will keep en eye out.
  9. Hi All, was offered 16k by Ford for the part ex, it has 26k on the clock at present.
  10. HI All, Just thought I would drop a post on here to say goodbye and good luck, I've had some really helpful information from the forum over the last two years since ordering my Superb 4x4 TDi 170 Elegance estate. I like the car and it has grown on me apart from one major part....the drivers seat, as you have all probably seen me posting I've had so much trouble with the comfort that it got to the point where I can't drive it anywhere without always having the heated seats on and feeling crippled when I got there. I constantly get a pain in my back and now the dead bum syndrome a lot of people have reported, I've had it into my local Skoda dealer who claim nothing is wrong with the car. I'm guessing the seats are maybe too firm for my back. I've tried every seating configuration known to man, I've changed it so many times I now don't know what's normal and also tried the changes based on the recommended driving position that someone posted on here. As a theory I test drive several other cars and used my wives car for a couple of days and didn't get any issues at all. Here are the cars I looked at Focus ST estate (fun but a bit to boy racer for my liking plus would cost a bomb to run) New Hyundai Santa Fe - Too high to get the dogs in and a bit cheap inside considering it was 33k for the Model i wanted. New Mazda 6 Sport Auto Nav Tourer - In a word stunning!!! they got it in the show room today and it's a massive jump forward (2.2 175bhp diesel emitting only 127g of co2 , well built and really comfortable with tons of gadgets. Subject to wives approval I'm off to place the order tomorrow at the dealer, pictures don't do it justice but here's one anyway. Will be using the Superb for part Ex so if anyone wants a high spec Superb for a good price let me know.
  11. I would hold out a few weeks if your about to order, the new Octavian estate is just about to be launched, it's apparently grown in size to almost Superb size and has upgraded interior quality. I've seen some screenshots on the Octavia 3 forum and it appears to look nice, it will also have more up to date tech as the Superb has been around a number of years now.
  12. More photos from they same shoot are also here, it also shows the estate http://www.worldcarfans.com/112112050785/2013-skoda-octavia-photographed-during-commercial-shoot
  13. Hi all, Just to follow up on a response I put in a couple of weeks ago, had the car into the dealer for the seats not feeling comfortable. Dealer couldn't find any issue with it and the seat structure was fine, I also got a little bit of back pain in the hire car so I've accepted the problem is my back. I also got my wife to drive and she couldn't feel any discomfort so it must be me. The superbs firm seats appear to expose my back problem. I think it may be down to me having bad posture, I've been trying not to slouch, this appears to be making it more comfortable. I've also dropped the seat height down Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Yep diesel, it takes a lot longer then any other diesel I've ever had to warm up, to be fair it is massive. I've learnt to live with it so it's no great deal, it is great when the heated seats get up to temp ;-) Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Yep, I agree the superb climate has a mind of its own, it's certainly not its strongest point along with taking forever to warm up on cold days. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  16. I get between 42 - 48mpg on my commute to work dependent on traffic and my right foot. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  17. A lot better as we paid attention to what we were actually doing instead of relying on gimmicks that distract us, I say that as a man that purchased the park assist feature
  18. Really, I've used it once in twice in 18 months, one time was to show my friends. I find it too slow and a bit gimmicky, the front and rear sensors are essential though Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  19. Just a final post on this, I got a few guys from work to sit in my drivers seat and they agreed that there is a problem, one also had the same back pain after sitting in it for a couple of minutes. Went to then sit in their cars as a direct comparison and it's a world of difference. I will update everyone after the dealers have had a look at it on Monday/Tuesday.
  20. I'm the same, my back is killing after a 20 minute drive, as soon as I get out it's fine again. I'm really hoping they find a fault and can fix it otherwise I'm chopping it in for something else. Will also take my wives car on the work journey to be certain its not my back. The fact there have been several topics on this would point to an issue. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  21. I've mentioned it before on other seat related forums, keep getting lower pain in my back when I'm in the Superb. I've adjusted the settings so many times using best practises and recommendations on driving websites, drove my wives car to work out if it was my back or the car. When I'm in her car I get no back pain which leads me to the conclusion there is something maybe wrong with the seat. we shall see ;o)
  22. ha ha, I agree in then sort of temps it will start fine. In the lower temps it will be turning over for up to 30 seconds before it fires into life. I've got it booked in for next week to be looked at along with the drivers seat.
  23. I sat in the back the other day when cleaning the car, I always forget how big it is back there. I only got the Superb for he boot as I have two large dogs but no kids to go in he back ;0)) Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  24. Thanks for your help guys, I've owned plenty f other diesels so its not a case of waiting longer before starting. I'm taking it in for the drivers seat shortly so I will get them to look at this too. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  25. Nope, I've never had to check these types of things before as I've been lucky enough to always have new or newish cars so my automotive skills are poor at best. Thanks for the advice, I should really learn more about these things, I can build computers, complex networks etc, but wasn't gifted with automobiles Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
