Boot rails for Kodiaq 7 seater
which are almost useless ……… compared to the “anchor hooks” on our old Octavia. I don’t think the designers road tested the new hooks. What kind of shopping bags do they think we use in the 21st century?

Spec-up a Kodiaq SE?

Spec-up a Kodiaq SE?
As above, I wouldn't spec up a base model of any type with lots of extras to match a higher trim model. It almost always turns out expensive. Many of us chose an SEL because it has a very good basic spec. Think LED lamps, KEYLESS, hot seats, NAV as standard. You can't get that on a "prestige" German machine for the same money. The fact it has 7 seats is a bit of a novelty (that I do use occasionally). I've never worried about the small difference between a 5 seater boot and a 7 seater boot. Right now, my 7 seater, flat floor boot is sitting with the tailgate about 6 feet from my front door as we load up with a TON of stuff for a self catering holiday on a caravan site (8 bed mobile home to be precise). It's cavernous.

Coasting
Not a Karoq, but my 2020 Kodiaq also chooses to coast in Normal mode. Showing a D on the dash and freewheeling at every opportunity. I hate it. So I just click a shift paddle and put it into gear. I never use ECO mode. A complete PITA. Sport mode of course has it’s place, but I don’t always want to be holding gears for a long time or changing down early. There’s a time and place for that fun mode. The car manufacturers are throwing all sorts of “Features” at us that we’d rather not have at all.

Smaller Wheels
Have you looked at the wheel options used on Karoq and Superb? Or even other VAG cars. There are lots of used VAG wheels out there. I put some used 16” VW wheels on my Superb a few years ago with winter tyres. I quick refurb and you can have any colour you like.

Smaller Wheels
I’m another running OEM 19” Triglav Summer tyres plus 17” winter tyres. Skoda Nanuq btw. I can definitely feel a more “bouncy” ride on the high profile 17” tyres compared with the 19” tyres. Not a problem, but noticeable. I do have DCC to play with so often use it to offset the squidginess on 17s. ps - today’s solo run was on 19s in Sport mode and Manual paddles most of the way. Sure was fun.

Kodiaq tuning box for FUEL ECONOMY
Yes. Mobil. Lots of fancy (silly) tricks to eke out another mpg. Utter nonsense in the real world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobil_Economy_Run

Stupid Kodiaq question (maybe) dsg Paddle shift Winterpack only?
Skoda, and other manufacturers, are going crazy with extra packs these days. It’s all about screwing down an “attractive” advert price, which is only a base model. So we’re asked to fork out extra for features that used to be standard. I refer to the SEL spec that I thought was a pretty good deal compared with latest offerings. Go look at Build An Enyaq!

Skoda Enyaq
Almost 4 Grand of extra packages to bring a £40K car up to the spec of my old banger Bear. They’re having a laugh. £600 for a charging cable

‘Trip1’ on digital display
As the Refuelling exercise automatically resets the data relating to a fill up, I just leave the Long Term display to look after itself. Resetting Long Term at a fill up means you have 2 displays providing the same information. I think it resets at 999 miles (or Km) or so many hours. I’m not sure. I sometimes reset it manually if I catch it at a particular ODO value.

Front Assist Warning Light
I’ve encountered the red flash on a few cars. Turning down the sensitivity has cured what I call false alarms. There are always circumstances involving other vehicles, centre islands and street furniture that will alarm the sensor occasionally. I’ve never truly tested it by trying to run into something A really dirty or leaf/snow covered sensor usually gives you a dash warning to say it’s stopped working.

Displaying a Garmin Sat Nav. via Amundsen mib3
I also have a Garmin 2699 (plus another model in our Polo, plus another one on my bike), but have never considered connecting it to the dash screen. I suspect it’s a complete non-starter. And why would you bother? Do let us know if you succeed.

Gear Shift Indicator showing unreasonable suggestions
The best thing to do with the Gear Shift indicator is switch it off. Its one of several modern devices that car makers have forced upon us, possibly with good intentions, that simply cause confusion and/or irritation and/or downright anger. Once it’s been switched off, life can continue normally. At least it stays OFF, unlike Stop/Start that has to be switched off every time you fire up the engine. Active cruise / Lane assist provides a constant battle of wills.

Tyre rotation
I doubt if there will be any (legal) argument unless any tyre tread is below the legal minimum. Anything else is speculation. ps - I used to sometimes label each winter/summer wheel with where it was used, but decided that it’s just as easy to eyeball the 4 loose wheels, assess the 4 tread patterns and fit them on front and rear as needed.

Lower rear bumper replacement
One man’s “easily” is another man’s “impossible”. Of course it’s replaceable. Body shops do it all the time. My previous Bear plus my good lady’s car had their rear bumper panels removed to repaint minor scratches and they were each refitted “easily”. Looking good as new.

Is there a boot liner for when the 7 seats are up?
I just keep a large piece of cardboard box lying underneath the regular 5 seat pukka plastic boot tray. On the odd occasion I want row 3 up, I have a ready made 7 seater boot tray that covers the small floor and stands upwards behind the row 3 seat backs. And an old blanket for protecting the row 2 seat back when they’re folded flat for full skip truck / removal duty. I’d happily butcher an old boot tray if I had one. I feel it’s worth protecting the boot trim as (a) it looks better and (b) it always pays off at hand back / trade in / selling time. I know people with “prestige badge” cars and the interiors resemble a dust bin. They blame the kids.

Eco Mode
Nope. I’m not an ECO fan so don’t use it since I played with it on day 1. I find freewheeling very disconcerting. And completely against my early driver training. The theoretical fuel saving is meaningless to me. I want to be driving in a responsive, controllable gear at all times. I flip/flop the lever between D and S as necessary for a satisfactory drive.

Headlight on light
During winter months I simply leave the switch in the ON position. Thankfully, VAG are clever enough to switch lamps off when ignition is turned off. In Summer months I go for manual control. ON or OFF. I know it’s old fashioned. I don’t need to burn battery power showing me the couple of meters to my door under street lamps. And KESSY means the lamps won’t be on before I open the door.

Tyre rotation
who says he was “right”? and how did he define “an average driver”?

All Season Tyres....
I decided that Summer is here so yesterday I removed 2 sets of Winter wheels and refitted 2 sets of OEM Summer wheels. Just need to shine up the Winters and stack them in the garage to form a useful table for some junk.

Tyre rotation
I’ve tried and failed to find a satisfactory reason for putting your bald tyres on the front axle while your treaded tyres are on the rear axle. When the front axle is doing all the work on a FWD car. And Most of the work on an AWD car.

Karoq handbook - where's the download button?
https://digital-manual.skoda-auto.com/w/en_GB/show/8d7a78b25048ddddac1445254d93de40_1_en_GB?ct=8d7a78b25048ddddac1445254d93de40_1_en_GB I normally link to my handbooks using my iPad, but can do it on pc too. Then simply click the icon to save the document to “Books”. don’t need a VIN easy Peasy.
