  1. I don’t have a picture of the inside of my 6.5x17” Nanuq wheels to be exact with the ET, but here’s a table I found long ago when I bought them. And I’m using 215/65 tyres.
  2. Any chance that Recirculation mode has kicked in, causing the steaming up due to a lack of fresh air? I know it sounds bizarre.
  3. They’re not going to do any warranty work On The Day. They simply have to eyeball the 2 problem areas then go away and make a decision about how to deal with them. At their leisure. A quick look and a few photos will take about 10 minutes. Then I can go home. It ain’t rocket science. I’ve been here before.
  4. 21 months and only 11,000 miles in due to our Covid lifestyle the car told me it wanted it’s first service. No problem. Online system worked well and I chose a day to visit the supplying dealer for a basic oil change service. Plus Free Brake Check as per their menu. Plus a couple of Warranty claim discussions added in a free text box. 1. A repeat of the lousy rear disc brakes condition on my previous Kodiaq and 2. Rusted wiper spindle. After a reasonably prompt eMail response I phoned dealer to re-arrange the date as I wanted the “special warranty tech” to be in attendance the same day as the service, because I wasn’t going to make 2 trips. I’m happy to drop the car off first thing and kill a couple hours in Glasgow, but they wouldn’t budge from their position of, “We want the car all day. We ask everyone to bring their car in early”. So they can pick and choose what to do. How ****in’ hard is it to plan and schedule jobs these days? He wasn’t pleased when I said he only had to spend half an hour changing the oil and filter anyway. Then ask the special tech to eyeball the 2 problems. I could be heading home at 0900h. Not in Dealer Land it seems. They wonder why we hate them.
  5. I’ve been a Bosch fan for years. Last year I ordered Bosch blades online for my lad’s BMW and they didn’t fit. Because the trader wrongly sold me a pair of LHD blades. Obviously the wiper arms are handed Right and Left for UK or Europe and the clip fitting is handed too. There was a difference of 1 character on the Bosch part number. Was quickly sorted out for RHD blades. ps - I’ve often replaced OEM blades within a year of new car delivery. VAG blades are junk.

  7. I recently got a dash message on my Bear telling me I need a service in the next few weeks. Variable type. A quick look online suggests I must pay my friendly dealer a mere £185. As I’m past the half way mark on a 3 year deal that should see me out. Same as Bear No.1.

  9. Indeed. Used to be called “Personalisation of Drive Mode”. For £45. Now £50 gets you what’s known as “Third Key”. …. from an online build I did a while ago.
  10. The spec changes and ever increasing prices certainly puts a question mark over buying a Kodiaq No.3.
  11. Then there’s the driver who gives you a main beam flash in the dark to acknowledge the fact that you yielded due to a parked car. ****! [edit - that wasn’t a Really Rude Word, but I guess there a very sensitive censor on this place] I now shield when I know that’s coming these days.
  12. You can get black, white and yellow plastic screws that go into the captive nuts on the tailgate. 6mm I think. I’m also a fan of stick on pads. 3M is your friend. Never lost one yet. I’m also a “short private plate user” so the rear captive nuts can be a nuisance as the pitch is often so big that a long plate must be used, even though the registration may only be 5 characters (or less). I use an online supplier for quality, fully legal, plates of various lengths. As short as possible. Again, if your dealer (like mine) ******ises the self tapping screws into the front plastic bumper leaving unsightly holes, you must use a long plate to cover his mess. recent plates are:
  13. Wow. Lots of disagreement on here. And some misunderstanding. I’ve commented on this topic on one or more previous threads on same subject. Won’t repeat myself. I do understand how the brake system works and I’ll continue to do what’s good for me. and maybe add to my “ignore list” 😀
  14. It’s pretty cool in Scotland for much of the year, but in decades of car ownership I’ve never suffered from dodgy brakes on a cold start. One advanced driving/ riding tip I learned long ago is to test your brakes after start up. Before mixing it with other traffic. I’m lucky living in a cul-de-sac with ample opportunity to brake test.
  15. As an aside - I plan on taking my Kodiaq to the dealer for the first MOT. Will be easier to argue any points. Should they arise. Slipped up a few years ago getting our (low miles mint) Octavia MOT tested near home in an independent. Failed on front shock leak. Not a leg to stand on. Cost me 2 struts there and then.

  17. A while ago I carried 6 internal doors to the coup for someone else. Standard modern light weight internal doors. 6'6" I think. Sat flat on the floor no problem. Recently collected a couple of 2500 x 500 boards from B&Q. Managed to slide them upright (ish) between the front seats. Just use a tape measure ahead of committing. ps - if you want a laugh, just go watch the antics outside IKEA as folk emerge with more than they expected 😄

  19. That’s one of the standard views on my 2020 SEL I like it.
  20. My local paint shop (not body shop) gave me a tub of touch up paint - for me to play with some very small bonnet chips - with Code LF3P on the label. I've no idea if that's a Skoda code. ps - my favourite local body shop made a 100% repair to a minor bumper on the rear of my previous Quartz Grey Kodiaq. Was very minor, but the whole rear bumper panel was removed and painted. I certainly did not advise on paint code. They similarly fixed a very minor mark on our blue Polo.
  21. Today was a typical Scottish day. Grey. Wind. Rain. No sun. There is no way on earth that we shall ever have enough sunshine in daylight hours to (a) see us through the day and (b) fill a few batteries to see us through the night. Can't remember if I read it on here or in a newspaper -someone reckons the sunshine will keep us going 24 hours a day. As for windmills that run occasionally.
  22. Our mileage on both cars has plummeted significantly since March 2020. Kodiaq down 40% on annual basis. Polo down almost 50%. Changes in family circumstances. Lockdown preventing travel. Various reasons. I’ve read most of the above with interest and agree that an EV car could replace car No.2 as I know it rarely travels more than 100 in a day. Actually it’s only exceeded 100 miles on 2 days. Doesn’t mean it’s back tucked up at home. But home charging could work for a second car. But car No.1 has to be able to go anywhere anytime. It’s not Range Anxiety. It’s “refuelling anxiety” as mentioned above. And I think the “free charging”. Free this. Free that is all smoke and mirrors. As for “all so green in the garden”. Are we remembering how batteries are made? And disposed of. Hybrid will be a no-no for me. Lugging 1/4 ton (ish) of extra baggage with a puny little pony engine ain’t happening.
