My son in law whacked a bird last week - the bird didn’t survive - and the front left hand corner is now throwing up erroneous Beeps while driving along. There is no visible damage to the bumper or sensor. I’m not intimate with the Enyaq and could see no option to re-set any of the parking and/or front collision sensors. Any suggestions? Or will he have to trek to nearest dealer for a £160 Look-See?

Just take a look. I'm sure you can tell 3mm from 10mm. It does not requires a micrometer to assess pads. I'm not criticising you. I'm suggesting it's really easy to be on a level with your local garage chimp in when it comes to decision making.

I really liked my previous Red Kodiaq. Splashed the cash. But it had risen to over £1000 so I now have an Energy Blue model. And I like this one too. I spent my cash on “under the skin” useful extras. All manufacturers seem to have gone Silly on extra cost paint jobs. The worst of course is paying extra for Primer Grey. They’re really taking the ****s.

No. This is “out of town” Scotland 😀 I’ve been given both Post Code and Coordinates.

As mentioned above, a post code covers an area. Or sometimes a street if you’re lucky. For an urban destination I always use the street info. Tomorrow I have to take a grandchild to a strange out of town destination and I’ll have use the given post code, but I’ve also been given a “target” cross road on a google map screen shot. Fingers crossed. As an aside - I do a lot of trip planning on my pc using Basecamp alongside Google maps as I continue to use stick on Garmin GPS devices on 4 wheels and 2. The planning of routes following a path of my choosing is part of the fun a the Garmin device will get me to my destination with pinpoint accuracy. I let the built in car satnav simply display the best shot at final destination. The road map in front of me helps with road layouts in towns.

My wife asked me why I’m chuckling into my iPad. She suggests making 2 trips 😀

My current Kodiaq is a 2.0 petrol DSG. Average mpg is 33. My previous 2 Kodiaqs with 2.0 diesel averaged 38 mpg. Go do the sums for your needs. Your lifestyle. A little 1.5 2WD may suit. A bit more grunt may be preferable. With regard to some of the comments above, I’m very happy with 4WD and winter tyres on 17” wheels. The car is “unstoppable “ 😀 Very comforting.

I can only comment on the 3 cylinder 999cc motor in our Polo. A whole 110 HP I believe. Perfectly adequate for 1 or 2 people making short trips. Longest journey being 169 miles. I haven’t calculated the Power to Weight figure. A good guide I think. The bigger the car, the bigger the engine to provide an “adequate” performance. But, we all have a different opinion on what is adequate. Hence, I enjoy 190 horses in my Kodiaq rather than 150. You can only go try out the various cars and form your own opinion. And I know nothing about oily belts.

I enjoyed this registration on a couple of Kodiaqs, but I've returned to my old short plate. On retention certificate V778 in my name + address. Ready to transfer to another vehicle online with DVLA to the owner of another vehicle holding a V5C. The online transfer simply requires the 2 long serial numbers from the certs.. £350

I followed the above suggestion - and noted that the Karoq area had exactly the same conversation going with the same reference. So, prompt delivery of said G3 blades resulted in a couple landing through my letter box today. £1.50 discount for buying 2. Fitted easily as usual. Will pop the under the boot floor with the other spare blades. Can sleep easy now 🙂

I'm not sure if I fully understand your set up. I'm an iPhone user. And can easily deal with music and phone. My phone carries a bundle of music courtesy of Radio Paradise. A few hours of music are reloaded at my leisure at home. I prefer the Bluetooth connection as it gives me the easy access to the phone via the steering wheel to make (rare) outgoing calls while easily handling a few incoming calls. I never use the full bifta "give me my phone Apps on my car screen - I want to deal with messages, etc, etc." as it does not meet my needs. (seems a complete distraction) My phone does automatically connect when I start up, i.e. PHONE + MEDIA source, but I have no trouble selecting an option between Radio, Phone, Media, etc. If you find MEDIA starts up automatically then simply push the RADIO button and media will disappear. Or push the PAUSE button on the MEDIA screen. Don't let the tail wag the dog 🙂

I think it's just a Fact Of Life that the car starts up on the map screen. Goodness know why. How do car designers think? I've learned to automatically switch off Stop/ Start after starting engine then press RH toggle switches a few times, as you mention above, to move to to the Driving Data screen usually. I'll then select other screens as I see fit during a journey, including destination that I may have set up via the central screen. I do find the SatNav quite non-User friendly so I've retained my stick-on Garmin device for lots of good reasons.

I'll just keep pressing the OFF button every start. It's automatic. Must be Soooooo many thousand times in the past few years since I'm on my 3rd Kodiaq, plus 2 VWs

I moved from a Superb estate to a Kodiaq in 2017. Now on my third Kodiaq. After 6 years in the Superb and now more than 6 years in Kodiaqs I've never found a problem size wise. As above, the Kodiaq is huge. I had 7 in it last week and of course you can't take luggage with 7. maybe a picnic or a few hand bags more likely. I think the Superb boot was little but longer but there's not much in it. As an aside, a neighbour just took delivery of very expensive BMW i4. A magazine road test emphasised how cramped the rear seat is and the boot is small and the extras are £££. I think the chap is mad as he has 2 growing kids with all the junk that brings.

As one who is both astute and numerate I’m very much in tune with the true annual cost of enjoying a car on my doorstep. It comes down to what I deem “an acceptable portion of my monthly income”. Always has been. A Kodiaq with extras certainly adds up to a big monthly number. But, for me the advantage of PCH over both PCP and outright purchase is the absence of a whopping deposit that has to be found from somewhere. Like many of us here, I’ve experienced every mode of purchase over many years. Who can remember when we saved up from our meagre income to buy that dream used car outright? 🙂 ps - having returned 4 lease cars between me and my wife I’ve never encountered any charges as I keep the cars in A1 condition. Though I have indeed enjoyed a CHIPSAWAY fix on a front apron gouge on last one. That made it A1 again.

It’s certainly not an “issue”. Unless one is unaware of such a requirement. I took my first Kodiaq to Europe after acquiring said document quite easily from VWFS. Business as usual.

It’s all just a silly way for dealers to make money. One of several “scams”.

I’m one who’s moved to PCH deals for the third car in a row. I decided that however you look at it, I seem to be “renting” a car. So once I decided to settle on renting a car I don’t have to think about residual value. I just hand the car back. VWFS always offer you the car at the end of the deal, because it saves them collecting it.

I love your arithmetic. In fact, I find it unbelievable that anyone can run a car for £100 pm.
