  1. I saw the Karoq thread on Service Plans. Punched my registration in to the Skoda service page. A mere £384 will get me 2 oil changes plus a few ticks in boxes as Skoda “inspects my car”. What a nonsense. The 2nd service includes a pollen filter. That’s a 2 minute job. I’ve done it in past. Buying an oil filter from a Skoda dealer, on spec oil from your favourite supplier and asking the service station round the corner to change the oil will cost a fraction of the main dealer price. And it’s all above board with pukka receipts. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again. Dealers are having a laugh as they try to recoup the cost of their glossy showrooms, while we’re all trying to tighten our belts.
  2. I’m sorry you’re struggling. Had the leaky shocks argument taken place in the Skoda Dealer’s emporium, I would have pushed for dealer replacing them as “unfit for purpose”. Exactly the same argument I’ve had several times - successfully - with crap rear discs.
  3. It’s worth practicing opening the key 😀
  4. It’s been mentioned above. I’ll paraphrase - if buying a used car you can test drive it and if it suits you just buy it. End of story. Buying new does tie you in to long deliveries for the exact spec you want. I’ve done it twice in the past year. New or used, I wouldn’t settle for a car that didn’t match my “must have” spec. Or drive smoothly. Hence my Kodiaq was factory build with FOC Blue paint plus several “must have” extras.
  5. I think you can switch to LH to RH in set up screen. It’s a few years since I took my car abroad.
  6. It’s a challenge. We’ve got a similar little rattle in my wife’s Polo. Comes and goes and hard to pin down. But it’s there. My just have to get used to it.
  7. Why assume “from new”. Just some random reset. I’ve seen 40mpg on the dash a few times. This shot was after a boring day down to Goodwood in July. Cruising the M6 most of the day at a GPS 70mph. My honest Brim Brim consumption over 4,600 miles is 33mpg. Many of my miles are chauffeur-drive smooth, but I’m not shy in putting the foot down when the time comes.
  8. If it’s in good condition and the price was right then you’ve got a nice car. I’m on my third Kodiaq, but my first petrol in many years. An SEL with several extras that make life behind the wheel more enjoyable, including DCC, VCC, VP, Hot Screen & Wheel. I’m not an ACC or sunroof fan. And I’d rather have Alcantara trim than the default 2023 crap leather-ish seats. I’m also enjoying the 2.0 190 engine. Especially it’s quietness compared with the previous 2.0 diesels. Fuel consumption acceptable as I don’t do mega miles.
  9. In my Kodiaq, the alarm I think you’re looking for is set in the Winter Tyres setting. Under CAR settings I think. I’m working from memory. You just tick a box to turn it on. And select a speed of your choice. I use it to remind me I should think about easing off. It’s nothing to do with winter tyres directly.
  10. Cut a piece of the plastic off the lid where the locking pin rotates into place. Lid will never lock again. Guess who cured a troublesome Superb a few years ago.
  11. It’s not really too hard to switch side lights on, if that’s your objective. In winter months I tend to leave the switch ON for headlights and all. In summer I flick between 0 and side lights depending on the weather.
  12. As per No.2, just run it through with top ups along the way.
  13. Sorry, I only have Kodiaq experience. I’m on my third one now and never had a problem in over 6 years. Around 60K miles.
  14. Easy to move off jerk-free simply by “tickling” the throttle pedal. Saves faffing with parking brake release. On the other hand, go for Sport mode then pedal to metal for a brisk departure. My favoured mode on one particular steep cross road near me.
  15. Indeed, that's how they work. It's Blindingly Obvious (that's a wee joke btw) And why some of us flick the parking brake switch when we stop in traffic and a vehicle pulls up behind.
  16. I use built-in and stick on GPS devices on both 2 wheels and 4 and learned long ago NOT to trust Post Codes on their own. Often take you to a field. Street is often a safer bet. And when planning from the comfort of my couch, I use google maps to locate and pinpoint my destination. Haven't missed a hotel yet 🙂
  17. I gave up on “connectivity” a long time ago. Never saw a single plus point in it for me. On top of the fact that VWFS / VAG just want to bleed us dry. Like so many other sources.
  18. The car in question was delivered to Scotland from an English dealer. All dealt with by employer and favourite wheeler dealer / leasing outfit. Was already in the pipeline so no choice of colour or extras. Doesn't even have hot seats, though the Arctic Silver is neat. 21” wheels a bit OTT and new tyres will be £££. No useful extras. All in all a pretty drawn out process for some reason. So it was recovered to nearest Edinburgh dealer.
  19. We are in the Enyaq section 😀
  20. I met the almost happy owner at the weekend. He got the car back after 3 weeks in the dealer for a new battery coolant pump. Whatever that might be. I’m not intimate with EVs. Very unlucky to be on the receiving end of Skoda’s incompetence. I hope things get better by the time we’re all forced into leccy cars.
  21. BoxerBoy replied to survey's topic in Skoda Karoq
Forgive me for driving a Kodiaq. I went from Quartz Grey to Red, but £1,000+ is just silly, so number 3 is FOC Energy Blue. And I like it.
  22. I took a short (motor) bike ride last night and was astounded to find temperature hit 28 degrees at 7pm. I was cooking. It' s Scotland fer cryin' out loud.
  23. The answer is NO btw.
