Mud Flap Dilemma
I’m a pretty tight Scot, but not mean enough to remove the old Mudflaps from the outgoing car. I don’t mind splashing out on new online Mudflaps for the shiny new car. ”… don’t spoil the ship for a ha’p’orth of tar…” (btw- it’s referencing sheep, not ship - every day a school day)

Kodiaq Easy Entry
A feature implemented in the USA where the average driver is a little larger than the average European driver 🙂

'cos it's the standard answer when you order from factory. I got the same when I ordered in November, but it looks like mine will arrive inside 20 weeks. My fingers are crossed.

New sportsLine mirrors
'cos it's handy, like so many other features of our 21st century vehicles.

SKODA KAMIQ
Indeed, it's a lottery. I'm also hoping my car is on one of these ships, but I'm not bothering to ask dealer any more since he told me it was at Emden. We optimistically agreed it "should" be available for collection at showroom this month. As the current car departs on 23rd, you'll guess I'm hoping for 24th.

New sportsLine mirrors
Part of the ever increasing cut backs on spec. My incoming new Kodiaq will also be given only a driver side dimming door mirror. It's all listed in the brochure. Cheapskates.

New Kodiaq order
As I type, my new Kodiaq is at Week 17 from order date. I’m expecting it this month. It can take a few weeks for the dealer to see a Build week for the order. Go look over his shoulder at his computer screen when he wakes up his order info screen. After build is confirmed, he can see transit info, such as waiting at Emden dock, on a boat to UK, etc. Just politely nag dealer occasionally, then sit back and enjoy the ride. My petrol is coming much quicker than a diesel would have. I’m told. And it includes a number of extras so I didn’t know how chip troubles are these days.

Permanently disable Kessy on Scala SE L
Why? Keyless has been mandatory on our cars for years. I mock my family members running around in prestigious German cars when they have to fumble a key out of their pockets to open the door. Even though their cars are advertised “keyless start”. And that’s all they get. Nonsense.
- Want to get new rims for my Scala, but can't find all the specs for my current ones

A hypothetical question.
I only pulled the parking brake on for fun in my drive one day. Walking pace. Not a pretty sound. On the road, if some calamity had happened, I would happily pull it on if all else had failed. But I’d be waiting for the rear end to possible step out of line.

Automatic Kodiaq Issue
Stop/Start - kill it every time you start up. Not sure how cruise control could upset a start. I find I only have to tickle the throttle pedal to let the car creep forward from a standstill. Or sometimes floor the Go pedal in Sport mode for a brisker take off. I’m about to climb into my 3rd Kodiaq and have never had any snags with the stopping and starting - once you master the drive modes and use them all as appropriate. But Stop / Start is not your friend. Spawn of the devil.

"Your 5 Star Experience" - Hardly!
Not surprisingly, the car walked through it's first MOT at my neighbourhood tyre and service emporium. 21,797 miles. Only advisory was "brake disc worn, but not excessively offside front (inner surface)". So not quite ready for the full set of brakes on both axles as recommended by main dealer. I'll continue to make my own judgement. Farewell red Bear in a few weeks. Looking forward to a blue one.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) / Cruise Control (CC)
Nope. We’re stuck with whatever the car comes with. Some of us are happy with basic Cruise. Some yearn for ACC.

Locking Wheel Nut?
A couple of years ago I bought cheap black caps online to match my winter wheel, but they were too tight on the wheel bolts. Never used them. I think they’re still cluttering up a drawer in garage. I just stayed with the OEM grey caps.

"Your 5 Star Experience" - Hardly!
2 quite separate points here. Yes - happy to have my booking **** up handled on the day. Would not have been upset if I'd been turned away. All my fault. No - it ****es me off that dealers blatantly push extra cost service items without true justification. Heaven help those who get sucked it to carry out non-essential work. ps - I spent my working life in a maintenance world so I know my way round and I know what's cost effective in my world. pps - this place must have the "sensitive dial turned to max. Kiddy's corner, not for big boys and girls

"Your 5 Star Experience" - Hardly!
Skoda and I will just have to agree to differ over what constitutes a "5 Star Experience". I'll start by praising the Stirling dealer for actually accepting my car at 0815h when I rocked up to a service that I had booked online weeks ago and honouring the online price I'd been given. Been in my diary with a note of the online quoted price of £271 for a simple oil change plus brake fluid (which is one of many EXTRA routine service items these days. But - my online booking had failed to register and silly me hadn't noticed that I didn't have an acknowledgement. There was no booking. I guess it was a quiet day so they took my car in. As usual, I received a link to the video of a technician inspection under the car. Always good for a laugh. Yes my winter tyres have good tread. Yes my front wiper blades were past their best, but I have new ones in the garage for it's MOT next week (always carry new Bosch blades in the boot). No thank you to all the "recommended" extra repair work, aka money spinning non-service items. - your front brakes could do with replacement - they're half worn, so they're half good - your rear brakes could do with replacement - look awful, been replaced once already under warranty, but now deemed normal wear + tear - AC needs a service - no, it's working fine - rear axle oil needs changed - did you check it? No, I'll skip that £181 The car is 3 in March with only 21,000 miles and will be collected in 4 weeks. I'm sure BCA will find a lucky new owner.

Locking Wheel Nut?
No. It is the key to undo the Locking Wheel Bolts. One per wheel. In this day and age I'll consider throwing mine away and replacing with a 5th standard wheel bolt. Use it very carefully, especially when tightening the bolt. Slip with one of these on a power gun or clumsy torque wrench and it's a devil's job to fix a messed up locking bolt. Long ago, one of my boys left the locking key on the wheel after a wheel change and never saw it again after driving along the road a bit. Had to procure a kit to butcher off the damaged locking bolt. Which may still be hiding in my garage somewhere.

Not wheels & tyres AGAIN......
Probably. I'm sure someone will be along in a minute with all the data from the Skoda brochures regarding wheels and tyres. Plus all the web pages that let you compare wheel diameter, width, offset (ET), PCD, ad infinitum. (I just cant be arsed) The humongous VAG family of vehicles provides endless opportunities to swap parts.

Anyone else ordered a new Kodiaq?
Today I was told new car is at port of departure.. Looking good for March. Could be 19 weeks from order.

Looking at moving from Superb to Kodiaq, after some feedback.
20 weeks delivery from order. If my factory order car actually got built last week. +VC, DCC, Virtual Pedal, Winter Pack 1, FOC Triglav, FOC Blue Paint. Must have saved quite a few micro chips 🙂 If delivery from factory to handover takes 6 weeks. Maybe I’ll see it late March. Hope so as this one is due to hand back 23 March. Happy Birthday Bear.

Looking at moving from Superb to Kodiaq, after some feedback.
I became Skoda fan in 2011 with a Superb estate for 6 years. Then moved to a Kodiaq. My third in a row Kodiaq SEL should have been built last week. We all have different preferences and priorities. I’ve never chosen most of the extras listed above in my factory build orders. I’m actually disappointed that latest SEL comes with cheap leather seats instead of Alcantara that I love. I added kick open tailgate. A godsend on many occasions. And digi-dash which I love flipping through as the mood takes me. I’m even going for FOC blue paint as Red is now silly at £1,000+ I think the Superb boot floor area is bigger. My trips to Coup have included 6 interior doors. Or 4 builder bags of garden rubbish. And if you have 5 grandchildren then the 7 seats are handy. I’m sure you’ll enjoy a Kodiaq.

Kodiaq VRS
Once you’ve enjoyed hot seats, hot wheel and hot screen, there’s no going back 😀 This is my Build Week so I’m visualising my car rolling along the line as I type. Shouldn’t need too many microchips just to warm things up. (not that I’m betting any money on it)

Kodiaq VRS
When it was introduced I thought I’d be a VRS buyer. What’s not to like? I assumed. But no. The hype was greater than the reality. Press reports don’t rate it above lesser models and I wholeheartedly agree. The pros and cons don’t add up for me. So my third SEL is in the post.
