GPF fitted?
It a 19 plate, no more info than that atm as not actually got it yet. Yes that would be one to consider, but I'd prefer to go somewhere more local.

GPF fitted?
How easy to check if one is fitted to a vrs 245? I'm planning on getting it remapped, so need to be sure before doing anything to the car. Any recommendations for the remap in South Wales? I've had a couple from Shark in the past, Revo an obvious choice, but there may be others?

Question about remapping a 245 DSG
I had a chat with local Seat dealer as I was looking fir a used Leon cupra but nothing doing. I mentioned my blown turbo, he told me it wasn't uncommon, the early builds had I think IHI produced turbos that had a known weak impellor shaft. Every chance it would have failed even without the remap. To balance that, I've had two octy petrol vrs mapped by Shark, no issues. I also did my tdi vrs and that had no issues in 60k or so miles.

Question about remapping a 245 DSG
No, I put it back to standard before it was repaired. I decided to sell it not long afterwards because of the depreciation and a looming financial black hole. With hindsight, I wish I'd kept it. Seat UK told me it was OK to remap it, but that I must return to standard when / if I returned it to the dealer network. I had that in writing.

245 Inbound
It's got LDWS so there will be a camera of some sort in front of the rear view mirror. Not sure if that's the same thing as an A5 camera though

What's the A5 camera? And what do you mean by extras?

Question about remapping a 245 DSG
In my case, as the owner of the Leon, I declared the remap with both seat UK finance and with the UK tech department. I also didn't try to hide it from the local dealer.

245 Inbound
No extras from what I can see. I searched all of the used 245s across the UK network, many of them are higher mileage, 10 - 30k. This is one of the best £/mileage prices from what I could see, but ultimately the numbers work, I can get out of my snooze fest 1.5 karoq and the dealer is in my home town.

Stage 1 for Octy VRs 245
About to pick a used model, 6k miles so perfect for mapping. I've used Shark a couple of times before with great results, I know they've since been acquired by different company, but asny other suggestions, recommendations? It's a 2019 reg I've no idea if it can be flashed via obd2 port, but I had an STS box with my 12 plate vrs, and that wirgked well, would like a similar switchable option.

Back into an octy vrs 245 after 18 months in the Karoq. Deposit paid this morning, just in time as business travel starts to return.

Karoq SEL 1.5TSi ACT Manual 34 month Update and Review
16 months in, and I've added only 2.5k miles in last 12 months, the first 8k in the first 4 months of its life; but then during C19 I've not travelled anywhere on business. I've also never got more than 42 mpg on any kind of long run (I commute occasionally to London from West Wales), and that was driving it really carefully. The problem is that I'm now paying for a PCP contract for a mileage that I'm never going to achieve, so I'm going to chop it in for either a Scala or a corolla hybrid. I've not lost al interest in driving and have resigned myself to becoming obsessed by fuel economy as I slowly shuffle towards retirement!

Real world mpg for the 1.5 engine?
For various reasons I'm not entertaining another diesel. Just interested to hear if the scala can get close to the expected eco figures with this engine. I know the corolla can hit 55mpg average on longer drives as a friend has one.

Real world mpg for the 1.5 engine?
I've had a 1.5 tsi karoq, but rarely got over 40mpg on my commute from West Wales to London before covid etc. I'm about to change it for something cheaper to run after a job change, so economy is important. I'm comparing it to a corolla 1.8 hybrid, which I know will be likely be more frugal, but I've been offered a good deal on the scala.

Sportline 1.5 TSI engine tune/remap.
In my experience, everyone that I know in real / virtual life has put in place full disclosure, but then that's probably because I'd unlikely want to be matey with the kind of folk that think it's OK to be a chancer. Forums like this tend not to attract that sort of person tbh, and those that aren't hopefully haven't researched it sufficiently to avoid their motor exploding long before they became a 3rd party liability.

That's a question to ask yourself before you ask the manufacturer anything, and is a personal decision which requires no further explanation. The more pertinent question should be can I afford the consequences if my engine breaks, because whatever anyone claims, it will increase the mechanical and financial risk. How much is a bit of a guess, so in my case it measures at 25% probability.

I was, but like most things it pays to ask questions first. Do your research and diligence, and then make an informed decision.

Remap Kodiaq Stage 1 - not detectable by dealer?
My mk 2 octy vrs slipped the OE clutch the day I remapped it. I had 2 choices, undo the remap or buy an uprated clutch. Amusingly, despite me telling the main dealer that did the servicing and from whom I'd bought the car that I'd had the work done, the engineers report advised me the clutch needed replacing lol.

Remap Kodiaq Stage 1 - not detectable by dealer?
FWIW, I had a Leon cupra 280, story is in these forum somewhere. George knows this too, but I remapped it, with the full knowledge and permission of seat UK and VAG UK finance. I also told the dealer, who told me it wasn't very good as they didn't spot it (rolls eyes). 18 months later the turbo blew up, and was replaced free under warranty. However, possible caveat, I did my homework and knew that there was an issue with early production of the EA888 engine in the Golf R, and there were a few Internet stories of exploding turbos, related to the original OE parts supplier design issue. Mine was from that early build, and I asked seat tech UK about, who sent me an email confirming that the turbo was fine, no recall issues etc. So, you can remap your car, you can do it legitimately assuming VAG UK consent (they might not any more this was 5 - 6 years ago now). Most of all, do your homework on the engine first.

Why? And in my experience no. FWIW I've remapped most of my VAG cars, none because I bought the wrong one, more often the right one.

Rear seat protector for dog
I've scoured ebay and Amazon but nothing jumped out at me as a good quality waterproof cover that allows a seat belt dog harness to be fitted. Anyone got any recommendations? Thanks. Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
