There's a brace of those guys in the wood behind me, and every morning they hold a competitive hammering event round about dawn. I suppose it helps the crows wake up ...

Coding BCM/CCM
There's nothing coming up on the usual go-to for parts - lllparts.co.uk - but both part codes show up on skoda-parts.com, along with lists of the applicable vehicles. Hopefully these will help clear the fog a little. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/1k0937087h-control-unit-skoda-28666.html https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/1k0937087pz00-central-control-unit-skoda-27602.html

I'd like to learn more, please.

They're known as 'burls' and are usually the reaction of the tree to some insult or intrusion into the bark layer. The complex growth patterning - "figuring" - within burls makes them highly attractive to woodworkers.

Decent ebay seller found for used parts.
Here's another source JIC; new RHD door mirror, heated, complete in primer 27 squid from ali. Only thing missing (for me) was the entry/exit puddle light led. Once the weather improves I shall see if I can transplant the old led fitting into the new housing. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008630176919.html

Octavia mk2 unstable swerving left to right at 60MPH+
One other quick check; swap the front wheels over and see if the driving behaviour follows the wheel or stays as-was.

Octavia mk2 unstable swerving left to right at 60MPH+
That suggests your tracking is out, perhaps adjustment, perhaps wear on the various suspension elements. Were it mine, I would get the tracking checked.

Octavia mk2 unstable swerving left to right at 60MPH+
A quick check for you; look at the tyre treads to see if there's any uneven wear, plus check for the correct tyre pressures and enough tread depth..

2009 Mk2 Octavia Alarm Draining Battery
Our Indy did just that on one of our Octy 2s. Car is still running fine with no problems. BTW look on aliexpress.com for a new alarm; between 40-50 squid at last look.

Looking for a 17" Steel Rim
I am embarrassed. I've just checked HERE and my 2007 Octy 2 has 5 X 112 PCD, NOT 5 x 115 as I had in my notes. So, if the wheel is of use, it's yours. Do check first that a full size wheel and tyre will fit into your wheel well, in case it's been tailored for a smaller-sized spare. I'll go measure the externals on this wheel and update you later.

Could high oil level cause my engine runaway?
From a problem solving perspective I would do this - and nothing else - before testing the car again. If you 'fix' allsorts and the car works OK you will not be able to identify the original problem uniquely.

OCTAVIA MK II. - 1.6 BSE engine won't start
My brain was telling me something could be amiss when I watched the vid, but I couldn't work out what it was. Hopefully you've caught it.

That looks like a California Bay - although I don't think the climate is warm/dry enough for those over here.

2010 fabia tsi bcm issue
Was the door in question the driver's door? If so, take a close look at the wiring harness from the B pillar to the door to check for broken or shorting cables or plug/socket pairs not making good contact.

Front Wiper motor and linkage-compatibility with Mk2 and other VAG systems
I don't know this for certain but when I searching for a new 'base' I could only find the lhd option; searching for the rhd version (1u2 instead of 1u1) I drew a blank. If that's a correct understanding you won't find a new one (unless you're lucky and find an NOS one) so you'll have to check on breakers for a used one. @Dean is a good source of mk1 info; hopefully he'll step in.

Front Wiper motor and linkage-compatibility with Mk2 and other VAG systems
Take a look at the parts catalogue entry for a 2006 1U Octavia wiper assembly HERE. It only lists one part, offering no differs for VRS but there are two variants listed for the "base", 1U2955603 and 1U2955603C. The letter suffix usually indicated a revised version. The fitment guide on THIS page says the same part fits Octavia, Audi A3, SEAT Leon and SEAT Toledo. Which part do you feel needs fettling?

Is anyone interested in a collection of slide carriers? My Dad used to take lots of slides but these are now surplus as I scan the negs. It would be a shame to just tip them; I've tried local 'free' groups but no takers.

Weird starting glitch
Has the starter solenoid been checked for continuity when activated? The 'tick' is the typical solenoid engaged sound but doesn't mean it's making good contact via the starter terminals.

I have to go there! I love the way the roofline flows out from the rotunda and out along the trackline.
