The original suggests mystery in its distant aspect, leading the mind of the observer to think "what's back there". The more defined imagery in your AI version is pretty but - to me - loses the magic of the mystery. As is said, YMMV

There's also a new twist (to me, anyway) in that the Scrotery has taken to chopping off and departing with the flexible charging cables used to plug in the vehicle. Perhaps they think it's less hazardous than robbing railway signal and power cables?

As Lee has mentioned it's a cover for the pop-up headlamp washer. If you have problems finding one let me know as I have a complete bumper with washer covers in your grey - no longer any use to me as I have a Scout (different bumper).

Ditto on our Octavia Scout. Mainly on the offside but lumpy roads also.

Did the harbour seals show up?

A known candidate is the connection between feed pipes for the screenwasher, IIRC pax side boot to rear of the wheel arch. There are numerous discussions regarding same on here - worth a search. BTW does the leak water look/feel like what you're putting into your screenwash reservoir under the bonnet? Another leak candidate would be the tailgate seal, but that would only appear after getting rained on (or carwashed).

Another possibility if you don't expect to use a Rivnut tool in the future is a manual version - just a nut and bolt and some grunt power (a long handled wrench is helpful). As a purchaser of the one-handed nut setting tool I can support this recommendation. Think "pop rivet pliers" on steroids!
