  1. Check on sites like wheel-size. From memory those look right. (Mostly) all wheel bolts on the mqb platform are the same.
  2. Probably because they didn't have guinea pig cars to try them on. Spec looks right for the superb.
  3. The device is definitely worth it but it's recommended to avoid the inbuilt apps. There is no ability to track the changes made and reversing the change is never guaranteed to actually reverse what was changed initially. Just get the pro version and do your own coding. Is surprisingly straight forward.
  4. Looks like there could be a relationship with dsg generation and the modes as suggested by Prof. Root. My guess is the dq200 and 250 coast in eco only. Then the newer boxes (380?, 381?) Can coast in D also. Maybe depending on software and conditions. My dq250 Octavia certainly did it in eco only.
  5. The dsg box bolted to the 1.5 is the dry clutch variant. They historically have a higher failure rate than the wet versions. Although those issues seem to be on older boxes and newer ones are less prone. I think many of the issues were on cars that saw mostly slow/stop/start traffic. Sounds like your usage is more longer runs so again potentially less chance of an issue. We have the 1.5 in a seat arona and the in-laws have it in a karoq. Both perform well enough and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the economy. Certainly less thirsty than a vrs.
  6. A work colleague tried both the enyaq and model 3. Ended up with the Tesla. Was very underwhelmed by the Skoda.
  7. As you suspect it's been done to death. Do a search in this section for mib2 retrofit. That should see you good.
  8. Unfortunately I don't think any of the VAG outfit are much better. If I was looking for the best reliability I'd be looking at Kia/Hyundai.
  9. Hampshire. A fair distance so not a simple delivery. I'll try to look for it today. If I have it then you are welcome to it for a donation to pilgrims hospice? I'll send it up.
  10. Where are you? Small possiblity I have one spare hidden away. Amundsen screen that is.
  11. I also just wanted to add how I like the feel of this thread. Friendly, to the point (without leaving info out) and no "got this error and can't be bothered to search for myself" demands. Thumbs up to @tev66
  12. If replacing the belt I would definitely change the tensioner. I guess even if you plan to change the car getting the whole job done adds value to the right buyer.
  13. I don't think so but it needs to come off to do the pump. May as well change it if planning to keep the car. If not then put the used one back on. @<20k miles it should have plenty life.
  14. The glovebox unit is the main head unit so to change that would need a new (or used) unit, this then needs component protection removed by a dealer. Then recoding to the car. Probably looking at more than £500 all in. A lot of money for a cd player. If specifically needing to make use of a cd collection maybe spend time ripping them and saving to SD card. More convenient for in the car and searchable on the system.
  15. Often worth just upgrading the pads (and maybe discs). Bigger discs weigh a fair bit more so handling will be compromised.
  16. Not sure I understand this bit. You mean it connects to carplay wirelessly via this box? Do you mean Bluetooth?
  17. That first pic looks like mib1. But if you have smartlink you probably do have mib2. That being the case any mib2 screen will work. Not sure in mib2.5 compatibility. Just to confirm all you need to do to get smartlink working is plug your phone in? No long press button or anything?
  18. Looks like both those part no's are mib2/.5 and not mib1 which is pre facelift. Double check the part numbers. That aside, if you have mib1 system then you will need to replace the glovebox unit which is the main head unit. Plenty info on here if you go searching. Been explained many times.
  19. Be aware that insurance co might not agree. Worth a call.
  20. Are you thinking the 18s will raise the height? They won't. The 3 tyre sizes are below and all are within a few mm in outer diameter. 205/55/16 (631.9mm dia) 225/45/17 (634.3mm dia) 225/40/18 (637.2mm dia)
  21. The 205/55/16s will be much narrower and that is the bigger saving with mpg over the different diameter. If economy is your end goal.
  22. Have they actually changed the unit? Assuming the MIB3 system is the culprit for all your errors that is. I know I said it above but the tried and tested MIB2 in my passat has been fine. Don't know what VAG did with the MIB3 design to make it so unreliable but it's a widespread issue. Mostly solved by replacing the unit.
  23. All shocks are oil filled and many with a gas chamber for heat expansion. This has chamber is the bit that changes. Some are atmospheric pressure and some are pressurised. I think more and more are pressurised these days. This is the change you are likely describing. I have the konis on my Passat and they are good but not a step change. I prefer a firmer ride though. I think the superb springs are softer than the Passat too. Maybe the difference would be more apparent with softer springs. If I did it again I'd go bilstein b6. I like the firm predictable ride.
  24. What about push nuts. No need to be twizzling some nuts in tight space. Might still be a challenge but not as difficult.
