  1. A Columbus question from me - did any recent car buyers get a copy of the navigation dvd, or was it just loaded on the hard drive?
  2. Delivery to the dealer is claimed as three weeks later than build date, so that would make week 36 - September registration on the new plate!
  3. As I said, it works on mine - but you made me double check! My car's May 2012.
  4. If I press in the rotary wheel on the left side of the steering wheel, that activates the voice control for the Columbus.
  5. Please remind me what, if anything, this thread is trying to say.
  6. I went for 18" wheels because they were what was supplied by Skoda as standard on my car. I believe they should know best about what is the ideal tyre and wheel combination for optimal ride, handling, and comfort. If they want to differentiate between trim levels by fitting different wheel options to the various versions, I'm sure they wouldn't do that if was too detrimental to the car. The whole thing is a compromise between all the different characteristics, including the aesthetic of just filling up the hole in the side of the car! I'm a bit too old to be voluntarily pushing my car to anywhere near the handling limits on the public road, and I don't plan on doing any track driving in the near future.
  7. From the manual: Conditions for the automatic engine shut down (stop phase) › The gearshift lever is in Neutral. › The clutch pedal is not depressed. › The driver has fastened the seat belt. › The driver's door is closed. › The bonnet is closed. › The vehicle is at a standstill. › The factory-fitted towing device is not electrically connected to a trailer. › The engine is at operating temperature. › The charge state of the vehicle battery is sufficient. › The stationary vehicle is not on a steep slope or a steep downhill section. › The engine speed is less than 1200 1/min. › The temperature of the vehicle battery is not too low or too high. › There is sufficient pressure in the braking system. › The difference between the outdoor- and the set temperature in the interior is not too great. › The vehicle speed since the last time the engine was switched off was greater than 3 km/h. › No cleaning of the diesel particle filter takes place » page 24 › The front wheels are not turned excessively (the steering angle is less than 3/4 of a steering wheel revolution).
  8. So when you've used up that tankful, you don't do anything else - just wait for the Sunday night to fill up? In a week where you get 360 - 380, you don't have any desire to do the other things which would take you to your usual 420 - 460?
  9. There is a position to fold the mirror assemblies in.
  10. It may advise against doing it by hand, but in the si****ion you describe just rotate the knob to the correct position and the mirrors will fold in. Then just drive at over 15 kph or turn the knob back to where it was, and they will return to the normal position.
  11. You can have several threads on the same topic . . .

  13. What justification do you have for expecting that? If you bought a road atlas from a bookshop, would you expect to be able to take it back and exchange it later because it wasn't up to date on the date you bought it? How can Skoda be expected to guarantee that the mapping technology they buy in from their OE suppliers is up to date (therefore updated each day) at the time of order/purchase/delivery, and will not subsequently become out of date while the car is being built and shipped to the dealer, and ultimately sold to the customer?
  14. I think the dealer's telling porkies here. Of course the DVLA need VINs - but they need those whatever the registration number being used. The dealer gets the VIN as soon as the car is consigned to them; it's all part of the information they need to register a car normally through the Automated First Registration system.
  15. My understanding is that the dealer initially works on the basis of the latest newsletter from Skoda, which gives an estimated delivery range for each derivative. This is the estimated week they will quote to you when you visit the showroom. This may be modified slightly by the dealer depending on their experience, their optimism and/or pessimism, and their impression of what you want to hear, and what is needed to get you to place an order. Once you have placed an order, they enter it onto the Skoda system, and it waits to be allocated a build week. It will in due course be given a build date - I think this is the status 10 referred to earlier. Although this is the estimated build week, it does not 'go firm' until two weeks before the actual build date, which may be earlier or later than the initial date given. Once it goes to a 'firm' production date (again, probably the status 20 above) it should not change. Once the vehicle is built, they allow around a week for the vehicle to get from the factory to the port (Emden, in Germany). Here it is mixed with other VAG product for delivery to the UK, so if there's major pressure from Volkswagen or Audi your vehicle may be a bit delayed. There are ships from Emden to Sheerness, Grimsby, and Newcastle, so your vehicle will be shipped to the UK port designated for your dealer. I believe each UK destination has about two shipments per week. Once in the UK, the delivery company may take up to five working days to get the car to your dealership. In total, the dealer adds 3 weeks on to the production date to give a delivery date to the dealer - then they need time for PDI, registration, and any local fit accessories. The dealer should be able to tell you the estimated lead time at the time of order placement. He should be able to give you the provisional build date once it appears on the computer system. He should then be able to tell you once it has a confirmed build date. The system also shows the dealer when the car leaves the factory, when it arrives at the port, when it is shipped, when it has been confirmed into UK stock, and when it has been passed to the delivery company. From my experience, dealers seem reluctant to give too much information to customers!
  16. This BMW article says the normal split is 40 Front : 60 Rear. http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/technology/technology_guide/articles/mm_xdrive.html?search_type=index&article=mm_xdrive
  17. Just a thought, but it might be 'summer'!
  18. Most car manufacturers do change the wipers for left or right hand drive. You will notice on your UK Superb that the driver's side wiper is almost vertical and against the offside A-post at the middle point of its sweep; that's correct for right hand drive.
  19. Could we just reflect the current Skoda offers and have a VAT free section?
  20. Skoda registrations in May were 4696 (2011 = 4484). That's an increase in May of 4.73% for Skoda, when the total May market was up 7.88%. Year to date Skoda registrations are 22613 (2011 = 19138) - up 18.16%. Total market year to date is up 2.56%.
  21. I've just got a very simple phone - it's not at all smart! It pairs with my car, but the phone book doesn't transfer. I then added a new number, and found that the phone book transfers numbers stored on the phone, but not on the SIM card! Every time I get out of the car, and therefore disconnect the phone from the car, I get two messages from my network provider telling me that they have updated the connections on my phone; that's the message I normally get when the SIM has been removed. So I tried with my spare phone. That paired, but wouldn't transfer anything on the SIM. When I added numbers to the phone itself, it said phone book transfer failed. This phone, with the same SIM, doesn't get the same message from my network when I disconnect it. Both these phones worked and transferred the phone book on my previous car which was three years older (BMW). Has anyone come across this before?
  22. This thread has some pictures. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/229684-our-first-lk-superb/
  23. I think the difference most people seem to be quoting is the difference between the hatchback and the estate. Are you sure you're looking at the right place in the brochure? On the page that gives the emission figures, the hatchback is listed above the estate.
  24. I suggest you look for a solution on Google Maps. When I right click on a location, I can click through to the co-ordinates; these are shown as decimal, but with minutes and seconds below that.
  25. Remember, the car has been used as a demo. That means that it is kept in good condition to impress the customers. Any salesman who mistreated his own dealership's demo so much that it became a bad buy probably wouldn't last very long.
