Trusty old 1.9tdi or newer 1.6tdi?
& with Euro 5 1.6 TDI CR VW Group still had not done much to give owners trust with the Cam Belts and tensioners or water pumps. They also introduced the defeat devices and then had to do the Voluntary Recalls and have engine management updates and a flow device fitted where owners agreed to or even where they did not. That added an extra worry as to how the engine would last or behave. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-campaigns

Welcome. Are you pressing the TPMS button while stationary and it makes a noise to let you know set, then driving off and yet it is not extinguishing the light?

What oil
Actually as much as Dealership Staff or Customer services says 0.5 litres in 1,000 km / 621 miles is within tolerances or being acceptable use it is not just because every owners manual says it is. Engines have been replaced while in warranty as excessive oil users when Officially Tested using the VW way and using 0.3 litres in 1,000 km . Always ask whoever to show the specifications for acceptable oil use for different engines and not the cover every engine type / age as in Owners Manuals. Ask that person for the Official Test how much a litre of engine oil weighs, they can ask a friend. ................. The Invoice shown was from a Muppet Technician thinking 1 litre of Engine oil weighs the same as H20. A litre still in the container does not weight 1,000 grams as they had for the 1.4 TSI engines 3.6 litre of oil capacity.

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
Using the ElectroVerse Card or Phone App to start chargers under the CPS Administration seems to be far more reliable than the CPS RFID Card or App. For me anyway.

the truth about electric cars
Painted EV Charging bay ground in the main bl00dy dangerous when icy/ frozen. Non Porous treatments covering the whole area not just lines. Surely not just the infirm / disabled must have issues. There are non-slip finishes but these are not common at chargers. So if there is not staff responsible for salting / deicing the surface / bay they do need to 'think on'. As do the reviewers / bloggers / vloggers when visiting chargers. Think! Think is the getting to the screen actually suitable for all. PS. When DAVE is working out the comparison Electric vs petrol is he going on the EV getting 4 miles a kWh? 10 kWh & 79 pence a kWh is £7.90 for 40 miles. But 3.5 miles a kWh just 35 miles. 3.1 as seems common on motorways, cold weather various vehicles, 31 miles. 60 pence a kWh, x 10 £6.00 for 35 miles just, is not great. 135 pence a litre unleaded, x 4.546 litres = £6.13 a gallon. ............................... Well done here. See things as others might see. Try walking in another's shoes, or wheels. (Not enough Designers, Engineers, Architects, Planners get a Wheel Chair and go visit the sites, and if you point out flaws or bad design to them they say that it meets regulations, requirements etc as i have been told more than a few times.)

Car back from garage - oil overfilled above top of dipstick mark
It is the sensible time to check it, before you start the car and drive anyplace. But then after a journey check where the level is when hot. Cold checks is not how you check the correct Oil Level other than with a VW Group 1.2 petrol 44 kW engine with only 2.8 litres capacity. Read the owners manual. The Oil Level is checked at Normal Operating Temperature after stopped a few minutes parked on the level. That is hot oil, 90*oC or so. The idea is you do an oil and filter service with the correct quantity of oil. Take the car for a road test and then check the oil level. Usually though the engine is left ticking over, is not at operating temperature and is maybe over filled and maybe under filled and maybe correctly filled.

Harry's Garage vids.
- Car back from garage - oil overfilled above top of dipstick mark
@Ben12345 Is that with the engine cold and not started and cold oil, or as it should be checked once you know there is enough oil, so once the engine has been run and up to normal operating temp and sat a few minutes? If well overfilled you need to remove the overfill.- Cybertruck!
- the truth about electric cars
Re the What Car guys video and 1,000 miles drive. At least they are driving the cars like many people do drive and got what they got as far as efficiency / economy. Far more like Real World than the round and round a proving ground track in convoy and that malarky, or the Carwow / Mat Watson drives on a Motorway and no pushing on because places to go and things or people to see.- the truth about electric cars
That amount charging is ridiculous. It is what i would need in a MINI Electric & then only charging as a 50 kW Max. I would need 10 or 11 times 1 hours on a 50 kW charger, maybe even 70 minutes, and queuing time. But overnight or food stops or just visits and a 11 kWh charger and 2 or 3 hours and a full battery or just a 7kW AC when ever..- TDI short journeys
The Premium Diesel with more additives / cleaners is not causing the 100 miles a time regens. Likely just the same with standard DERV. The state of the EGR and DPF is what they are. Maybe getting away on some longer runs will help. Instead of the cost of buying additives use a gallon of diesel and take a 50 mile jaunt.- EPC light coming on under acceleration - MK2 Octavia 1.8TSI
Misfires logged as fault codes require enough happening in a cycle. You have the EPC light on so there might be codes logged. Having them read is quite important. Essential really. Maybe get some Tesco Momentum 99 (99 ron min) in and see if any difference. Check the air filter, and have the spark plugs checked, and replaced if needed.- the truth about electric cars
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Or a version of the truth according to some. 'The jails are full, and we can not transport prisoners in Electric Vans / prisoner transport in case they are incinerated while detained at His Majesty's pleasure.' EV,s are already frying some peoples brains apparently. About time he did learn if you plug in before or after you pay at different types of chargers used many times surely after 3 years... Pay attention to the job in hand. He is not daft and has charged plenty on a 50 kW InstaVolt and will get just under 50 kWh in 60 Minutes into the Taycan and InstaVolt tariff is 85 pence a kWh. So 45 kWh will be £38.25. They do have 150kW charger these days. Near 3 times the cost of the Porsche Charging and they are 350 kW chargers. 40 Minutes on a 50 kW charger then no more than 30 kWh charged so £25.50 or so. He is not in the Car Park... For car park charges, pay on exit.- the truth about electric cars
^^^ Car Manufacturers buying the credits in the UK because they have to First Register 22% of EV cars and 10% light commercials / vans. Kidology. The Electric Trucks in Norway or the Busses or the Electric Busses in the UK are not TESLA Semi's. The charging speeds are the charging speeds at present.- Winter roads, ice, snow and wet or dry driving in an EV..
He actually spent about an extra £39 , £38.96. 51.27 kWh @ 76 pence. 51.27 kWh & only 2.3 miles to a kWh is just 118 miles. Damn expensive. But then he needs that receipt as obviously that Porsche rebuild is for the business & that was a business trip to see it and make a video while driving a media car, so 20% VAT claimed back, meaning £31.16 for that Shell Recharge charging.- the truth about electric cars
- Norway's EV new car sales / first registrations. & other stuff on the move to EV's including with public transport.. Videos.
- Oil consumption
This chart is for TSI,s. Not TDI,s which all use Long Life oil for Fixed or Variable regimes. Others will know which Euro 6 2018 on TDI,s still use VW504 00 / 507 00, & Dealers are using 0w 30 III not VW508 00 / 509 00- Mechatronics failure ? 10666
Correctly set the oil level of a DQ381. Which is the error that too many Factory Trained VW Group techs are making. There are good Youtube vids showing that.- Power issues
More reason for spark plugs being replaced if needed and the Air Filter, and not running fuel sitting in the tank for week / months. Dealers Servicing is often the stuff they say not needing done that is the issue. They do not use parts.... Some might not look at the air filter for 6 years / 60,000 miles because they say, "Not scheduled."- EPC light coming on under acceleration - MK2 Octavia 1.8TSI
Misfires, plug / plugs failing maybe, ignition coils maybe. The Spark Plugs need inspected and the gaps checked. Have you filled up with fuel and is it E10 you bought and has the previous keeper maybe used E5 'Super Unleaded 97 or 99 ron? - Car back from garage - oil overfilled above top of dipstick mark
