  1. @FabFabFabia Did you not think of asking a Master Tech at a Dealership in the past 3 years if they can set your steering to more assistance. Just as they have been able to in the past for cars going to Motability Customers or others with disabilities.
  2. There are going to be lots of BEV,s available at lower amounts to rent as the Manufacturers get desperate to get them not just first registered but with drivers. Motability are very much trying to help by very low or nil advance payments. Trying to persuade those on the scheme that smaller battery / range EV,s can work. From January 3rd 2025 there is no longer the £750 towards ordering and paying for a new car. This might have more go for the Nil Advance payment option.
  3. I really am amazed at where the agencies or politicians, Office of Statistics etc get their figures. They do not even know how many people are in the UK, or you have disasters like Greenfell Tower and they do not know how many people lived there, or shared flats. Google Earth, Electoral Roll and and stuff and Ai will find the actual number of accommodation / homes with driveways. Post Men and Woman will know best of all how many properties they get to a letter box by walking up a driveway, or driving up one. EDIT. Added December. An old vid.
  4. Indicated oil temperatures with TSI,s of 125-130 *oC is not uncommon, car being driving spirited in higher ambient temperatures. You use the appropriate oils. With Mk2 Fabia vRS twinchargers, 1,390 cc & under 4 litres of oil, be them standard or remapped i used Water Wetter, and 5w 40 FS not 5w 30 FS III (Long Life oil.) This got the oil temp back down quicker and the coolant also running a bit cooler.
  5. @Gammyleg The Recall Action to change the oil from synthetic to mineral has nothing to do with DQ200 from the end of 2012 on. It is '34F7'. started in 2014 in the UK. 2015 is '34H5' concerning those. 2013-2015 DQ200,s. This is '34F7'
  6. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-campaigns '34H5' used to not show up on the VIN checker, then did for a while when Australia had it,s 3rd Recall started. The Recall being talking about was never a RECALL in the UK as a letter sent to Registered keepers. So started in 2017 on some DQ200,s from 2013-2015, it is a software update as a preventative measure, Pressure, heat issues. '34H5' is the Service Campaign / Recall Action / Skoda Secret Service Campaign, need to know basis and Skoda / VW decided not worth letting all know. Repeated 3 times now in Australia. This is not the '34F7' on 2009-2012 DQ200 DSG,s which was a Global / World Wide Recall, but VW Decided Europe / EU was not in the world in 2012, so started a Voluntary Recall Action in 2014. Recalls should show when you check the MOT History site. The amount of Safety Critical Recalls that VW Group / Skoda fail to tell Registered Keepers about is ridiculous. The amount they convince the DfT / DVSA / DVLA that does not need a RECALL because they will contact keepers about is ridiculous.
  7. The UK Media including the motoring press (or Vloggers) seem to be no wiser on anything this week than they were last week. If anything is to change in December 2024 then surely time the Government were announcing it.
  8. There is a pinned thread at the top of the Fabia Mk2 section on Oil Filters for 1.2 TSI,s of the wrong dimensions, names the Manufacturers name on the filter. There is also threads on the common issue. The Tech / Fitter / DIY,er forgetting to remove the oil rubber seal. Also over tightening the oil filter.
  9. @J.R. WTF has a Caterham to do with anything other than a Caterham?. Waterless Coolant, good to minus 40*C & to over 170*C Remember this
  10. This time. "56% of homes in the UK have a driveway." The p!ss figures just keep getting rolled out without being substantiated. Do even 56 % of properties people live in have access to a public road from the door? Houses with roadside frontages no rear garden access, Terraced, Tenements, four in a block, multi-stories, home of multiple occupancy, Riverboats / Canal Boats end many other places people live without driveways is very likely more than half of homes in the UK.
  11. Renault Scenic Long Range. WLTP 440 miles. that is over 5 miles a kWh. City warm weather. WLTP 270 miles, Highway, 3.1 miles a kWh. WLTP 210 miles. Highway Cold weather. 2.4 miles a kWh. ***The 300 mile figure top of page is 3.4 miles a kWh.*** It is like pick a number any number.
  12. 100% of WLTP range when so many are the likes of 5 miles a kWh is not getting achieved. That WLTP range is when you look CITY, not a Motorway / Highway. 155 miles. needs 3.5 miles a kWh. 235 is 5.3 miles a kWh. City. Unlikely...
  13. Before a PDI the pressures are more like 50 psi from being in transit. Factory on to Transporters with Transit Blocks in and the car strapped down, on and off ferries, car transporters. They do not arrive at a dealers at 42 PSI unless the car is prepared at some other distribution centre.
  14. Best not go places in a EV SUV all on your Jack Jones like a commercial traveller if you have to stick to 60 mph on motorways. If paying for your own charging on Public chargers you will maybe save a few quid though at 10 mph slower. ................... My last month, home charging night tariff, maybe 600 miles with the car, and 7 night hours of the fridge / freezer, a few kettle boils, just £15. Plus 750 miles Public charging about £120 though.
  15. ^^^^ As we have known for the year to now. So he is hardly Nostradamus. The SMMT, DfT, DVSA, Secretary of State for Transport, Roads Minister and just about anyone to do with anything knows. .............. Matt Watson and his trips are interesting, for those that maybe actually do travel at the speed limits on Motorways, 70 mph. Not as many might, 75-80 mph. They are not going at the speed on the speedo are they, 70 mph indicated and 67 mph maybe. Poor efficiency anyway @ 70 mph.
  16. Welcome. Can i ask which Skoda Dealership it was bought at or which area? Sorry no help but get onto the Dealership, talk to the manager and tell them the issue with the Skoda Approved Used car. It was meant to have had rigorous checks. DO NOT DELAY REPORTING ISSUES. ? Is the Service History complete, showing things like the Spark plugs replaced, Air Filter, Pollen filter etc? ? When was it last serviced according to the Service History they supplied?
  17. 140 miles maybe because you do not empty batteries, so a tail wind, tyre pressures up, not fully loaded etc etc, so ideal conditions, not cold weather. As a van for town / city delivers or pottering about it will be pretty good. Strip the rear out, or just folded flat. 186 miles from a 44 kWh usable battery would require 4.2 miles a kWh. 3.4 times 44 = 149.6. 1.2 turbo, mild hybrid, manual or auto makes sense. A replacement for a Yeti maybe @ a good price. (Cheap soon as a used car...)
  18. Some of the biggest dealership groupx in the UK have all the gear / tools and Technicians without the skills and farm the work out. Thank goodness. More should admit they can not do the work. Even with new parts coming in from the factory.
  19. Welcome. So many threads on this, and help with the cheap fix, or the Main Dealers very expensive fix. Try a search and look at the more recent threads. What engine, so what DSG do you have. 7 speed Dry Clutch DQ200, or a 7 speed wet clutch DSG, so a DQ381 as fitted to a 2.0 TSI or TDI?
  20. Welcome. Hard to say about this one. Great if all is OK. DO YOU KNOW A GOOD MECHANIC THAT KNOWS ABOUT TWINCHARGERS & DQ200 DSG,s. GET THEM TO CHECK IT< THEY MIGHT NEED TO WORK ON IT. Never ever seen that colour. Looks good. It has not had a Full Respray has it? *Possible car done by Skoda for a show or advert, special anyway.* It is not a S2000, they lump them together in adverts. it is a Mk2 vRS 1.4 TSI DSG I see with an armrest. EDIT. I see it has a sunroof. There are no Front Fog Lights, that has been showing since Skoda Launched the car yet a sales person can never show how to switch them on. Past MOT,s look OK. First MOT must have been a Tester that thought the Blue Bulbs in the Head Lights should work and are the sidelights. It should have had Software Update '34H5' on the DSG sometime since 2017. +I see the seller says oil changed. There are 2 oils, in MCU and in the box.*. DVLA. I See First Registered 2014 & says year of Manufacture 2014, well obviously it was manufactured before being registered the first month of 2014, so a 2013 car. ............... Remapped. Which is OK if it is and runs OK. Correct plugs, coils good etc!!! Modified. Remap, Exhaust, Suspension, Wheel Spacers. *********?????? CAN YOU GET INSURANCE FOR IT?. *********** V5 change. Why is it getting sold on so soon if it is? FRONT WINDOWS, Is that extra tints on them, so illegal?
  21. @Mr_Brownstone Is the Antifreeze / summer coolant / Rust Inhibitor, AKA 'Coolant' at the correct strength?
  22. Is it not the 'Failing battery in the Alarm Siren' rather than the cars battery? What age is the car?
  23. ^^^ That was / is the 'Original' WD40 there are various now..
