  1. @PetrolDave Were you living off grid and producing your own electricity /energy and fuel? Growing crops and producing ethanol to drive your car on, growing for burning bio-mass, cutting peat etc? Or were you just plugging in to the sockets and getting electric and turning on taps and getting water? The countryside is wonderful, all these roads, walls, fences, hedges, fields, woodlands / forests that are natural and in no way there because the were worked on by humans.
  2. Welcome to the forum. I have asked a mod to move the thread to the Fabia Mk2 section where you might be able to have more help. EDIT, Sorry i see you have already posted there.
  3. Wind farms are hardly intrusive, they are just structures away in the distance or that you are close to, rather pleasing to many. Plenty in Scotland, with miles and miles of open access and tracks and trails. Oil refineries & Power Stations and Chimneys were intrusive for many, and Town Gasometers and much more and yet the energy was required just as it it now. The issue with so many is that they are happy to get their electricity that is generated elsewhere and does not intrude on them or spoil their view. Be that Electricity, Gas or the Petrochemicals & transport fuels. Scotland has the decommissioned Nuclear plants, the Nuclear Reactors from Submarines stored and the submarines, the Oil rigs waiting to go where ever to be dismantled, and much else. Out of site out of mind for many who do not live near them.
  4. @newskodadriver Important info. What engine the car has, and what DSG. Is it a DQ250 6 speed wet clutch DSG that requires servicing, or a 7 speed DQ200 that does not? How many miles has the car done? PS the 650 rpm is very low, possibly causing the issue.
  5. Maybe no choice other than in 6 years to buy the most up to date of the last ICE vehicles and run them. What ever these might be, or some of the millions of other cars still going about. Any sort of problem might hit the fan long before then and the Government / Governments who are up sh!t creak might just be happy there is a car industry in the EU or UK, or no Energy Crisis..
  6. Welcome. Is this since the battery was replaced, or was things the same before when you had a flat battery or whatever? Is this a car new to you? What Mk2 Fabia is it, As in Engine?
  7. That is OK, there are 7 gears and 1st is really only pulling away, or coming to a stop. 6 speed DSG,s had / have different ratios, and not Management for the WLTP & RDE2. Engineered for a tests / certification, not drivers enjoyment..
  8. No it was not charged and was not preconditioned this morning. Just been out at minus 3*oC but it was showing 100% power available. First reduction is -5 i think. Which makes no difference really to just driving and accelerating in speed limits.
  9. @MHUnderwood That is the issue others are having with new cars. Software Updates / patches required. Is there actual Customer Services for Skoda Spain or VW Group Spain who are the Importer? You best get your case escalated with Skoda Spain and have them supply a suitable replacement vehicle and explain what they are doing. Maybe even getting a replacement fit for purpose vehicle. Or get legal advice.
  10. @chriskelland What was wrong with the Dealers offer of it reduced to £150 +vat? Other than the rip off full cost! Did you not ask them where they were putting your car or they were finding someone that knows how to set up and make any adjustment? I would stick with them and then you do have comeback if they mess up the alignment.
  11. I just noticed when looking at picture that the available power was cut this morning at minus 5C degrees. Must check later if it is to 80%. Then tomorrow at what temperature it goes back to 100% or how many miles. Last winter when I noticed I had gone about 25 miles until 100% returned and maybe minus 3C. Left hand guage.
  12. @Stewart7 Is your DSG going into Coasting then when in ECO Mode. Instead of D7 or D6 the indicator just shows D. Which is fine. No load on engine no need to be engaged in Drive, touch brake or accelerator and back into D7 or D6. There are various things that can go wrong / play up with a DQ200 DSG, but best just use it, not abuse it and they are pretty well OK. There was a Service Campaign called in 2017 on some from 2013-2015, a software update. '34H5', maybe check if that was needed or carried out. (That was a preventative measure because of pressure / heat issues.)
  13. @dalbs Who from where have told you it might not be resolved in 2024? As in what is their job? Best get them to put it in writing, the statement, their name, their Job Title.
  14. @johnr090266 Let us know how you get on please. If this crowd are answering it will be good if they can Phone a Friend or ask the Audience and not just refer you to a Main Dealer. Servicing regimes not being their Specialist subject...
  15. @MHUnderwood shows a UK location, and this is a Global website. The question with more info might be best in the Kodiaq or Kodiaq Mk2 section. There are Kodiaq Mk2,s off the road now because of Software Issues and members talking on rejecting those, and Superbs because of not fit for purpose software. Some of the issues they say make the vehicle unsafe to use.
  16. @Winston_Woof If any of the titles / subjects interest you then a keyword on the search engine and you can read them. & maybe dry your tears, nobody is making you drive or ride anything, other than swings and roundabouts of the ups and downs. As to 'The Government', UK, the Governments devolved, the Parliaments, the Politicians. Those are who THE PEOPLE with a vote elected in. You get what you deserve. They certainly do not want us all to have EV,s regardless of anything. They want less travelling by personal motorised vehicles. Less driving. & that is not all of them. This Government came in this year and they followed the Party in Government for over a decade.
  17. If it has Full Service History at Main Dealers then likely done unless the Owner / Keeper told them not to do it. Many still did even when told not to, so if the car was at AC when in Inverness or HAWCO then likely they did it. Points means prizes / cash in.
  18. Last years VW / Skoda recommendations, advice, guidelines does not necessarily include TDI,s,. so see what the Dealerships are saying. If a Taxi & a tool of the trade then preventative Service & Maintenance is important more than VW Group say because they are saving Dealerships servicing cars that they are selling.. Changing Cam belts etc.
  19. If and when your DPF is blocked then you have this. Has the car had the Defeat Device Emissions fix & has the Engine Management from that and a airflow device fitted? http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-campaigns
  20. & the batteries fitted as standard are just what they could get away with as far a 'Much Cheapness', it is amazing that there are ones lasting beyond the manufacturers warranty on the cars. Many do not, but then getting a simple battery replacement via Dealerships and a warranty claim can be a song and dance.
  21. Welcome. What engine / gearbox has your Kodiaq & maybe explain here what has happened as far as breakdowns?
  22. @Graham ButcherLast week i listened to a Tory MP on BBC Politics Live supporting constituents and protesters who want Undergrounding of cables even though the cost can be as much as 10 times higher. He seemed to miss the point about the timeline and his party being the one that signed up to it. This was not the one i watched, she is just as bad though. http://bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c629g37zz4yo Local to me the Quarrying company is waiting on a council vote for a 6 year extension of the 5 year agreement to quarry and 12 months to reinstate the land. The wealth of this area comes from Sand, gravel & aggregates. Jobs / Employment. & farming, engineering, engineering of farm equipment. The Solar Farm planning application they want is getting the NIMBY,s up in arms, as is the battery storage locally, and the BIGGER Pylons running near for the Transmission of Electricity going south. These protesters * objectors are just ridiculous. The Quarry edge is 200 yards from my house and the extension will be only 100 yards to the other side. No big deal as it is so deep and the Millennium Forest money was used to plant trees and relocate public paths. Also money from the Commonwealth Games shooting being held at Barry Buddon was used for Paths for All. (Corrupt quite possibly, but that is how things were around here, and might still be.
  23. VW Group stopped being able to employ the best engineers because with the Defeat Device the CEO & the Engineers Engineer Martin Winterkorn and the Board of Management tried blaming Junior Plebs and were even prepared to let them be jailed because the Heid yins were 3 monkeys. The cars are still running engine management to get WLTP & RDE2 results rather than behave well real world on the roads. VW took software in-house and ballsed up, now they have incompetents writing software and VW group penny / cent pinch where ever they can. They prefer spending on Advertising and lawyers than the R&D and procurement of parts and equipment. He was bound to pull the 'Ill heath card'. Sick of lying possible. Others sick of the stuff he and others signed off.
  24. @Winston_Woof How often can you go on about the obvious fantastic distances ICE vehicles can on on a tank of fuel. Yes 140 miles with a smaller battery and still a big car. But the point is that if that does not suit someone that needs to tow then just do not get an EV. 3 hours with the caravan or whatever behind is going to be more than enough for many that do caravan or tow. My issue with him and the likes of him were them Charging when at destinations to then run the caravan off the Free Chargers at the time in Scotland, Then the next day leaving the car charging on 7, 11 or 50 kW chargers again and bogging off walking cycling etc with the charger locked in. Greedy ignorant barstewards around, just like ones off golfing etc with their car charging free rather than at home... Even now with tariffs some are at it were there is no penalty / max charging time. They set their charge time but the car sits for hours, daytime or night plugged in hogging the charger / bay. What a total palaver and carry on. Just like the EV Campers and the limited range between charges. But then i Drive a Mini Electric and know all about needing to charge every 2 hours or sooner. Just not the hassle of hitching and un-hitching and hitching. But for some it is their way of having fun... **2024 sort of costs. These free charging days are long gone.** 2 miles a kWh & 75 pence a kWh is 100 miles costing £37.50. Crazy. 55 pence a kWh £27.50 79 pence a kWh is £39.50 for only 100 miles travel. You do need to have money to burn... Getting 200 miles with optimum efficiency makes a very big difference, well enough to be not so extortionate to tow with an EV. Tesla Super Charger to Supercharger can bring the cost down to that 60 pence a kWh or less.
  25. @lol-lol That will be Left Hand Drive cars they will be testing then. Rather different from Right hand drive cars that will be on UK roads. Only once you drive the right hand drive car do you find out how the pedals, switch gear etc is. Sometimes road testers big up the Media car driven abroad and customers get them in the UK before issues are discovered with right hand drive ones. This happened with a Suzuki model, it was discovered pressing the brake pedal moved the bulkhead and the car accelerated. RECALL Required. At least it will not be like the What Car / Autocar of the years which can be the next years car announced before the end of a year and before any right hand drive cars are even delivered into the UK. eg, Mk3 Fabia.
