DSG7 mecatronic issue
The fault has to be confirmed before any repair can be done. If their diagnosis is correct then great, and they know what they are doing. a new MCU is not necessary if a repair / refurbishing can be done. There are companies doing that, finding the fault and repairing.

That time of year again - Alarm constantly going off at random times
If you are not replacing the siren and battery or the battery in the siren then disable it. If some thieves steal your car are they going to grass you up for the alarm not working?

DSG7 mecatronic issue
Sadly you have to pay to have it repaired if you have no valid warranty. The failing MCU,s is getting more and more common with DQ381 DSG,s if that is what you have.

the truth about electric cars
There is a real issue, those in England that do not want pylons transmitting more electricity to London across their countryside. Then those in Scotland that are not wanting bigger pylons transmitting electricity to England were it can be cheaper than in Scotland. It is crazy that a home can use only 50 kWh of electricity in a week, maybe single people or couples not using much but costs them £12,00 plus daily charge, or 100 kWh costing £24.00, hard working low earners. but a Porsche Mecan might use 100 kWh just to go 240 miles or 110 towing and be able to get that from Off Peak charging for only £7.00 (Just the same with the likes of me with a not very efficient EV and a Smart Meter.) Taking the P1$$ really is it not? A social divide.

the truth about electric cars
If they get a move on with building the Low Emission Transport Hubs, so Hydrogen production & filling stations and EV charging hubs like the ones planned in Scotland then that will make a difference on main trunk routes in Scotland for EV,s towing be they cars or vans, Busses and HGV,s. The one near Broxden Park & Ride Perth should be the first one open but they will be near the city outskirts in Scotland & ports. There are a few chargers near the Hydrogen filling station already in Aberdeen but no use if towing.

Multiple issues - common cause?
? Are you filling to MAX, that is not needed, the system can set it's own level, between MIN & MAX. There is no FILL TO THIS LEVEL. If it drops from Max then mark that, this is after it puts some out via the overflow. Sealed system but with an overflow / pressure / liquid release. It is the Coolant / & pressureished system that changes the boiling point.

the truth about electric cars
Getting a rapid charge (50Kw DC) on the 3 chargers at the canopies going behind at Castleview Park & Ride does really require a charging port at the front or on the front wings. The Original charger nearer the bus stop can be used when towing and with rear charge ports at either side. Or you can get 22 kW AC charging if the outer chargers available.

Weird idle issue - 1.5 TSI
That is not how you clean a GPF. But the Light does not have to be on for them to be running at a higher idle speed.

the truth about electric cars
Or towing and charging at Charger Hubs where there is the provisions. The ones i go to were you can stay hitched and charge are Stirling Park & Ride, Broxden Park & Ride Perth, Falkirk Stadium Park & Ride and Wallyford Park & Ride Edinburgh.

Weird idle issue - 1.5 TSI
Normal is starting the car and it is at 1,100 rpm and drops to 800 rpm in 40 seconds or so. That is a manual or DSG TSI in P or N. & stationary. As to High Idle because of the GPF there are threads on that in the Fabia mk3 section.

'Electric Cars or Vans' Towing in the UK. Any reviews or video reviews, anyone's experience etc.
A not very efficient EV even when Solo. 2,000 kG Max tow weight though.

the truth about electric cars
300-330 miles from a 95 kWh battery is pretty ridiculous, 3.5 miles a kWh. But only getting 2.6 miles a kWh solo in not very cold conditions on UK roads is just 247 miles. Those towing and using EV,s do not to gather knowledge and experience and use the chargers now going in suitable for long vehicles, vans and cars towing. They are growing in numbers. Or it is a case of needing to unhitch and secure the trailer or whatever towed. Within sight most likely. Best maybe tow with a more efficient EV really, but Harry's experience might be just the same with a car with a smaller battery and better efficiancy.

the truth about electric cars
A Vid from 7 months ago. No sign of the new UK Government doing anything to encourage the take up of EV,s in the UK. Like the reduction of VAT from 20% for electricity from public chargers. Friday this week the new Price Cap on Energy will be announced. Posted 13 days ago.

the truth about electric cars
@wyx087The AI generated search answers are just taken from sources not to be trusted or taken with a pinch of salt. Those are from the figures the Politicians in Westminster and the Lords use, quote. The thing that is strange about London and these properties with drives is that even not big properties van be sub divided and house many more people than the councils know live there who might not be related and the properties not having panning for being HMO,s. The London and region population which might be 8 million or more compared to Scotland and 6 million or less has apparently 10 times more public EV chargers with over 22,000 & Scotland with between 2 & 3,000. Seemingly over 71,000 chargers for the whole of the UK. 36 charging locations, 109,000 connections. Nothing as far as the numbers as it is pick a number any number & does not mean much but what is obvious is the London with it,s population & visiting vehicles has maybe 10% of the countries population and who knows how many EV,s but is where there are lots and lots of the UK Charging Connectors yet seemingly there are many many Home Charging because "Finance dictates people's behaviour". There are a lot of public provision of public charging in 1 UK region, possibly because needed, but if these are being installed and not used that matters. Is it provide them and they will come?

the truth about electric cars
@wyx087 Many of us are not daft and prep vehicle door seals for winter. Fuel flaps also. Not just Oop North. As to driveways. This will be Tory land statistics where they think everyone has a Passport, a mobile phone and EV drivers have driveways. Or 2nd Homes. There is no actual proof that statistics on home charging are correct. There is a Government Minister going as far as 75% or something like that having off street parking, not necessarily with EV,s yet or chargers.. Drivers of the 1.2 million or so EV,s will be a high proportion with the likes of Hire Cars, Courtesy Cars, Fleet cars, Fire, Police, Ambulance / NHS, Carers, Social Work, Councils, Car Clubs, delivery drivers, taxis / private hire cars, Utility companies, vans etc etc. Some will take them home maybe to park on the street or off street. But Home Charging / Paying for the Electric?

Hello,I am a mature newbie, just bought an Octavia Estate 1.6tdi Auto, and hope to enjoy others opinions, general chat, etc.
Low VED from the Government crazy years of kidology, but depending which cities you might enter it could cost you. It is a Euro 5 is it not rather than a Euro 6 like the 2017. So you are not compliant for LEZ,s / ULEZ. The Euro 5 1.6 TDI CR is part of those that were the VW Defeat Device scandal. You will maybe want to check if The Fix was done, so the Software Update and the Air Flow device fitted. EDIT. If not done do not let anyone do it. IMO. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-campaigns PPS. Any issue with the DQ200 DSG when you get the car then i would return it to the seller. Sale of goods & you have the Warranty. It will not be economically viable for them to repair, so no letting them try try and try again. (There is no service schedule for the DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG, but there was a Service Campaign on some 2013-2015. ''34H5', Check if done or outstanding, if done there should be a sticker in the spare tyre well, started in 2017, it was a software update.)

the truth about electric cars
Maybe listen to Mrs pick a number any number. Is it really Something like 75% of people that now have Off Street Parking, at their home is this? @32 minutes. Lilian Greenwood MP is her name. Parliamentary Under Secretary of state (Minister for Future of roads.) Best Fact Check anything she says. Her out and about coffee will be on expenses, i hope her out and about is in an EV. .................. Lovely cars. Porsche will first register lots of them, and sell new or used, quite often to Porsche / VW. I can imagine the 'Lifestyle users' are going to be more inclined to a transporter with track car or boat / jet ski or maybe a horse box...(pony) more than a caravan / trailer tent. (The 50 mph limit in the UK towing on single carriageways will help with range.) 2.5 - 2.6 miles a kWh solo. says a lot Real World, UK NSL,s. 100kWh battery or 95 kWh usable. If it has a 330 mile range that is just under 3.5 miles a kWh efficiency. 95 kWh & 2.6 miles a kWh is 247 miles, using all the battery.

@Carlston or someone that has fitted that size on a Scout will be along hopefully. I see that members say they have fitted 245/45 R18,s on vRS,s http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/458496-will-245-fit-standard-18-rims

the truth about electric cars
'Oh yes they will!'. No why Jose can the manufacturers shift in the UK the required percentage of new EV,s required in 2025 then 2026. Chances of her punted from the ministerial job she is in is pretty high. http://bbc.com/news/articles/cz6je5w7n3yo

Superb Mechatronic issues
Your experience stands as a lesson for others really. It can be hard work with VW Group / Skoda. There are fundamental design , manufacturing, material issues. People should not be landed with the issue in warranty, and the expense out of it. This has been going on for 6 years plus now & is just the usual from VW Group. 7 year Warranties now in Australia. The DSG,s with a 80,000 Service Interval should at least have a 80,000 mile warranty.

Tyre size question
@JackHenry Your Speedo if not re-calibrated already is not accurate now as it left the factory, it over-reads. If you put on slightly larger tyres as many of us do, especially now for winter or more robust for offroad / tracks the speedo is usually accurate. You are going a bit too far oversized. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/527876-mpg-adjustment @J.R. What is being recallibrated with VCDS? I know that can be changed, and also fuel consumption, brake assist, haldex, steering assist and much more. Are you saying it will be used to make the Speedo /Milometer Accurate, or just to over read the speed a bit like as standard? *I should have use Just.* 'BS I think. Just recallibration to suit the increased tyre size.' Is there something more than that to do with the remapped ECU and the gears? No recallibrating and the speedo adjusted makes the bigger tyres suitable for the vehicle.
