  1. ^^^ Good stuff, happens with EV,s as well. ambient temperature might be higher than when you got the first guesstimate. Really what is great is if you go drive 42 miles and it can do that just on the battery.

  3. But how many read an OWNERS MANUAL in a Fleet car, hire car, courtesy car or even their daily driver. So Fuel / Charging flap stickers with the Pressures for car load and tyre sixes or B-Pillar is so much more 'Simply Clever' or GOOGLE the pressures on your phone is easy. Or as on many Premium Cars or even non premium with Screens and TPMS you just look up MENU, Status, Tyre Pressures and you get the choice of tyre size, summer or winter and then it tells you the recommended pressures. ? Does TESLA have that on the System? EDIT. Yes...
  4. No idea if reasonable or not because no idea who is selling it or at what price. Have they a workshop and do they do MOT,s? ? What Mk2 Fabia is it as in Engine / Trim? What sort of servicing is there a record of? The expense of this needs considering as well as stuff that are advisories
  5. No it is not a CVT. Steptronic is an unfortunate name to give the Automatic. Sounds like the CVT from a Daf / Volvo. The Subaru Lineatronic is a CVT.
  6. It really really is simples, EV,s are clearly not for everyone and their needs and wants. Just do not get one if you do not want one. It is as easy as that. 'Just say no!'. Tell your MP your feelings on the 2035 or 2030 timeline ask them to remember and tell Keir, Angela, Rachel, Louise and anyone else.

  8. @domhnall@Graham Butcher Does seem unaware of the like of Harthill Services East or Westbound / BP, or BP Service station New Bridge BP & MFG Chargers, or West ward from the Gyle / BP. Aberdeen Bypass, Air port Park & Ride, Shell Re-Charge & MFG, Ionity etc etc. Aberdeen Tesla Service Centre Chargers etc etc etc. But Scotland is not England and even England is maybe regions. As Scotland is many regions. The Daily Record has an article About Chargers and regions and not many Registered BEV,s in an area. Totally missing again how many BEV,s in Scotland have non Scotland registrations & are in the country without a registered keeper in the region. http://dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/areas-scotland-risk-being-unplugged-33819480 I take it the figure is one from the DVLA one on Registered Keepers address / location and the VED Class of vehicle.   9. Just to be different because i am and so are many other people. I am maybe much more different, i usually have all the time in the world and enjoy charging, the challenge of Charge Place Scotland & no longer fit for purpose chargers. So small car and small battery cars, E-Corsa & now MINI Electric. Corsa needed charging by 120 miles and the MINI by 100,miles. (Bigger cars, bigger batteries and more range is different from i post below.) So after 100 miles or there about even though the Corsa could charge up to a 100 kW i was going to 50 kW max chargers. 45-60 mins charging needed to put in 80-100 miles more range. No issues as long as no issues, charger starts on RFID card or tap the Debit or Credit or Phone up and if lucky get answered and get a charger working. Fine for me, or me and dog, and basically OK with a passenger or 2 if just one charging stop. Places to go, people to see and no flexibility in time, over 80 miles maybe and just got 90 - 120 minutes for travelling and parking i take a fossil fuel vehicle. I do take the EV if going to collect someone and have time to go charge and maybe get messed about getting a charge and then am heading on without them having to hang about 40 minutes or more at someplace with no toilets. Or if available go charge at a Commercial Charger, pay more than it should cost and probable by munchies or drinks where we would not usually bother to.
  10. Looks great IMO. I would happily have one. (A big issue for me is the Shiny plastic exterior bits for a car that will get dirty, salted and gritted roads so scratching unless the very very greatest of car is taken flushing off before and sponge or brush goes near it, or Snow Foam and clean off grit...) Obviously Autocar and others will go on about and they have already about range and not meeting official figures. Well they know they are based pretty much on 5 miles a kWh. Autocar / What Car and others are in the position to be putting the ridiculous WLTP regime results to the Prime Minister, the Minister for Transport, the Minister for Energy and to the SMMT and the Manufacturers and call for them to be looking at a way of testing BEV,s that are going to be Registered on UK roads and using Electricity from the National Grid. They will go on about the lack of rear space or boot space. Well as 2 seater or 3 seater they carry luggage, and they are a small car, 2 small people / AKA children might be fine, or an adult driver and 3 people if the driver does not need the seat fully back. 'Small Cars'. Small families, couples, individuals etc. ** Rapid charging is or was 50 kW, as has been the norm in the UK for years. The Small battery charges @ 80kW and the bigger one at 100 kW, so really Rapid +, or sub Ultra Rapid or what ever term that should be used.** But not really Ultra-Rapid, or Ultra-Fast. They is usually now 100 kW-350kW. No wonder people get confused over charging.
  11. Public Tariffs becoming ridiculous with the price to plug in / the first kW of electric. They really do not want the public using the chargers that they got grants to install but they had to provide free for 2 years and now they can charge. If you needed a 7kW charge for an hour, 4 miles a kWh, so for 28 miles. Scotmid. 195 pence and 6 x 45 pence = £4.65 Loch Fyne Oyster bar. 245 pence and 6 x 45 pence =£5.15 Accorn Properties. THERE IS A 45 Min max charging then £1 a minute. *So you are not getting 7 kW in 45 minutes on a Slow or fast charge.* Pay more for 7 kWh on the AC. Slow / 3.6 kW, 200 pence and 6 x 75 pence = £6.50 Fast / Rapid /Ultra Rapid. 195 pence and 6 x 70 pence = £6.15
  12. I suppose that they are doing as many have for decades. They are sacrificial. Cheaper to break Driveshafts than other much more expensive parts.
  13. Just a small point that people that drive the A720 City of Edinburgh By-pass know. If you are trying to go any place for a few hours from now and then again later this afternoon if you are moving you are not pulling off to get fuel and then trying to join again.
  14. @JirairD Welcome. The Ioniq as an EV with a 28kW battery is amazingly efficient and can do 4-5 miles a kWh so i suppose your PHEV was as efficient running on the battery.
  15. I never posted it there or in the MG EV thread simply because i thought the battery state after 143,000 miles might be of interest to those looking at getting an EV. The Truth of Electric Vehicle thread seems more suited to those not interested in getting an EV and that have had nothing to do with driving them or charging them. It looks like there is more stuff that is nothing to do with EV,s there, just about how superior a liquid fuel vehicle fills up quickly and goes far between fill ups.
  16. 1 litre in 1,200 miles is far too high and oil consumption for a TSI. (It was even too high for 1.4 TSI Twin Charger Excessive Oil users and 0.3 litres in 1,000 km could get a new engine fitted with cars in warranty.) The only reason oil consumption should be higher in the UK conditions of no extremes in temps or track use is if you are doing lots of cold starts and short runs.
  17. The usual thing is set tyre pressures and reset the TPMS when the tyres are cold. (Cold is different high summer and deepest winter, out side compared to inside.) So tyres checked regularlyt But if you get a warning and stop and the tyres are OK and no obvious flat, and when checked pressures are OK then you really do need to check it was not an overheating issue causing the warning. Just before having others doing checking, but if it is a sticky caliper or wheel cylinders / drums or bearings it is going to cost anyway.

  19. So was it up at About 90 degrees indicated? It does not matter really. What matters is the way you checked it after the service and then when you found it low was the same way. So you now know it has used quite a bit of oil. Best get it to that area A on the Dipstick when at normal operating temp and see how it stays over the next 500 and 1000 miles.
  20. A few minutes idling does not get the oil to normal operating temperature. & did you check when serviced if someone else did it?
  21. You misread the manual i think. ? Did you check the Oil level cold and then at operating temperature after the Service was done to be sure enough oil was in? If not you have no idea how much oil it has used since the service. They have said for decades. all engines, petrol or diesel, 44 kw up, 3,4,5,6,8,10 or 12 cylinders. May use 0.5 litres in 1,000 km (621 miles) so 1 litre in 2,000 km. Once you have enough oil in when cold, it ie not a Warm check you want, it is at Normal Operating Temperate. so 90*oC indicated or so. VW502 00 is for Fixed Servicing, so 9,400 miles / 12 months with TSI,s. It is not Long Life Oil like VW504 00 / 507 00
