the truth about electric cars
As to a pee. I have to get one before arriving to public EV charge. Because the CPS chargers or park and rides do not have toilets or if they have they are not open. No point turning up at a charger and dancing about trying to find a tree if bush to go behind. It tends to be where there is expensive charging and that there might be toilets near. But not always in Scotland. Actually roadside filling stations are usually the expensive fuel and you need to go off route to the out of town or supermarket cheap fuel places. Many filling stations in Scotland have no toilets for the public.

the truth about electric cars
The new chancellor and prine minister will have to act and act soon then because at least 3 prime ministers from the previous governments have got the car dealers, manufacturers and pension funds and hedge funds to this point in the final quarter of 2024. Not the EU.

Do dealers want to sell anymore?!
@ericm0hff Was the one you were test driving on Trade Plates and did the car not have a Registration Number? The car must be under the Dealerships Group Insurance. Talk to the Dealer Principle if the Sales Person is no use to you. Ask where the car or cars came in from, and how they have Slavia,s in the UK. Skoda UK imported them or the Dealership did.

the truth about electric cars
@EnterName You posted it. So you do not know then? I ask because there are too often daft things posted that people seem to get from where ever. So is the UK Treasury going to take the fines or the EU that the UK is no longer in? It is the UK Government getting a letter today from the Manufacturers, SMMT etc. To do something about the 22% that they have to meet, or the 10% Light Commercials.

the truth about electric cars
@EnterName You posted it! I asked if it is the EU getting the money as you seem to say in your post. "The prospect of EU Fines." We know all about the need to First Register the 22% in the UK. This thread alone has 287 pages. Is the not UK fines?

the truth about electric cars
@EnterNameIs it actually the EU that is getting the £15,000 per vehicle the manufacturer Register / Sell if they do not First Registering 22% of BEV,s in the UK? Surely not now that the UK is not in the EU.

@Graham Butcher These days are when you are doing the distances as we can not go back to the future of being younger and needing to pee less often. BBC 5 Live this morning, Wake Up to Money. EV,s discussed again. Some points were well made and some statements were just the same old that is repeated. 'Is EV Insurance really high now?' http://bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0023gq8

DSG Gear Display in Dash
Somebody will come up with the Coding required to have showing what you want. That is how they designed them to be now. The DSG choosing the gears. Trying to be efficient in the selection for your accelerator action When you chose with the paddle in D at least you can see for a moment that you got what you wanted. Go to manual or S if you want to see and choose the gears.

Speedometer consistently reads 5 mph lower than actual speed
Welcome. Hopefully someone can help, but you have a nice big clear 27 mph so why worry about a little needle being accurate?

- Skoda Fabia Paintwork
Maybe go see someone that does wraps, but i doubt they could shrink the blister with heat, but you never know till you ask. The Paint Warranty is only 3 years. A wrapped roof would not be part of the paint warranty anyway if it is wrapped. That would be as the B Pillar foils that can peel.- the truth about electric cars
It would be fantastic if from now to 2030 or 2035 the ICE vehicles become better built and have greater longevity. Not sure that the new compulsory equipment and software are going to mean they are though. There are 2 Threads started today on new Skodas and no dipstick. No big deal as many manufacturers / engines have been that way for decades. But this is VW Engines in Skodas so lets see when the 'I have a low oil warning and i have only done 5,000 miles' posts start. It will be good if the new owners check the Screen and find the Oil level and top up before any Low Oil warnings. I will be interested to see when the First 'Top up oil messages' pop up on the 1.5 TSI PHEV,s and the other engines & how much oil needs added and if people can do as is required and not overfill.- code c111213 clutch pump open circuit'' haldex of course
? Was the Full Service including the Haldex Oil change and a proper clean out by someone that knows what they are doing?- Skoda Octavia Coolant and Automatic Gearbox Issues
I think you are totally out of luck with the issue with the DSG & its MCU issue. There are plenty DQ381,s going faulty in the UK in warranty, and ones out of warranty as there are around the world. VW Group / Skoda are certainly not doing anything for any out of warranty. Same with the coolant issue sadly.- the truth about electric cars
Keeping up an Average speed such as above is a bit more than slipping over the speed limit, on empty roads.- Paint touch up/repair

Maybe in the next decade there will be a government that will. There are UK Governments, and then EU Governments just for those heading across the Channel on longer jaunts.- the truth about electric cars
^^^ That is the UK Government and England for you, all the people, all the money and poor infrastructure. Tell me where people fill up their fuel between Blairgowrie & Ballater if they are spending time going to Deeside and the Braemar area if the Filling station is out of fuel? But then worse than that is the crappy EV charging between these towns with the chargers in Braemar. Ballater is hopeless really and Aboyne is just so so. Transport Scotland, Scottish Government, & others just pathetic & clueless really for the requirements of locals, businesses and tourists as far as EV,s.- the truth about electric cars
@Dieselgate Your 2022 car will be ok for 15 years will it not? Maybe a bit pricey taking it some places in the future with low emission zones etc.- the truth about electric cars
PS. Yes you could live with a Big Battery Car or a not big battery car with a Trickle charger. But, it matters how many miles you will be doing using that home or someones electric & how long you are going to have to charge. More important is if you can not get your car to where you can plug into a 3 pin plug then that is the Home / Work charging issue, and Public charging will be damn expensive. 51 pence Tesla charging is now the price where Tesla non Tesla charging is getting too expensive. 10 kWh costing £5.10 and getting me maybe 35 miles. Other Public Rapid charging is quite a bit more in the majority of providers. 100 miles for £2, then the next 100 miles, 30 kWh £15.30. At worst.. So 200 miles £17.30. 300 miles, £2 & 2 times £15.30 = £32.60. (300 miles @ 50 mpg petrol, 6 gallons, 140 pence a litre, £6.36 a gallon x 6 = £38.16) My home tariff now of 6.9 pence a kWh is ok. 100 miles for £2.00 with my small battery car. * I need 2 x 7 hour night time sessions to charge the car from about 10% to 100% with me doing 10 miles after the first charge to 60%. That is a 32.6 kWh battery and 28.9 kWh usable. Cheap offpeak tariff 12am -7 am.* If i had a wall box charger that would be under 6 hours of charging needed, near empty to full.- the truth about electric cars
@Graham Butcher Charging Stations can have their own Solar or Wind Generating energy and battery storage and not require the National Grid connection. Payment can require Mobile Reception and that is an issue places. As to near the National Grid, those transmission pylons running up and down the 4 countries of the UK that we see and that are complained about are maybe on rough ground, but use your head, they might use Unimogs and the 110 Land Rovers etc to access them, but they are not that far from any roads, trunk routes or not. Please tell me with Glens that have Public roads up them and habitation that does not have Electricity to those buildings. Inns/ Hotels, Farms, Lodges, Warden / Visitor Centres, Car Parking. (I know a few, but really very near the head of the glen there are utilities. Radio, Phone, Wifi reception there might not be. ) @Dieselgate Can we assume that BEV,s are not for you? ................. Wind Turbine on the hill and battery storage.- Looking for a dipstick
There is a thread on that very subject this morning in the Kodiaq Mk2 Section regarding a iV. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/526967-digital-dipstick- THE Winter Tyres Thread
I had 17" Michelin Alpin 6 on my Corsa Electric for over 2 years all year and they were good in the wet, cold and snow but i wrecked the sidewalls and put on tyres with a more robust sidewall. (I have a thread on here on the Alpin 6.) http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/488370-michelin-alpin6-winter-tyres I would go from the other 4 on your list. The BFG G-Force Winter 2 are good. I have Maxxis AP3,s on my MINI Electric and they are excellent. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/382657-maxxis-ap2-all-season-tyres-update-2024-maxxis-ap3 The Riken Snow were what i replaced the Alpin 6 with. *Michelin own BF Goodrich, Kleber, Riken, TIGAR, Kormoran & in North America Uniroyal.*- Mobility cars. Are they worth it
- Kamiq corroded rear brake discs
Location location location. You might live and park and drive in towns or cities, might not get much salting / gritting of roads in winter or not often, or might not live or park near the sea. Applying the brakes might do little to clear the rear brakes because really good brakes slow and stop a car. Light application of the brake pedal might clear the cosmetic / minor rust. Applying the parking brake slightly can. Which those with Manual Hand Brakes can, nit so with cars with e-brakes. If you are fortunate enough to not have to change discs as often as brake pads then good for you. - Skoda Fabia Paintwork
