Water collecting under door
@FrankNicklin Were you just not aware of the issue in the first 2 years of ownership?

Water collecting under door
@FrankNicklinThe car is 8 years old, has the issue existed all this time, never been reported or dealt with until you are going to raise it now. As far as the seals and drain holes they are actually part of Servicing & Maintenance and there were guides to clearing them periodically. Sadly Skoda Servicing might have hinges lubed but that is about as far as it goes.

Re New Jimny Automatics. Those that Ordered a New Style Jimny and received it First Registered to them from the like of West End Broughty Ferry could sell them the same day and get a £2,000 profit easily. Some got more than that on Automatics. The Dealerships were not allowed to keep them and bump the price. I know people that bought a few and sold them immediately.

Back in 2003 my Jimny Automatic was £12,000 from Belmont Perth. They had bought a lot of Blue Jimny JLX that were Australian spec. (200 i think.) I used a 5 year interest free loan from Motability. (they used to do that & 4 years interest free on used cars.) It needed the front swivels done at the 2nd MOT. (Jimny Death Wobble) I think it was maybe 2012 or so it went to my son to be used and abused for a few years, then i tidied it up and it went to my G/F. Never much spend on it. Needed some welding. It went to Arnold Clark for £1,000 in 2018 i think, 15 years old. Sold for £4,000 after changing hands a few times. It is still on the road, MOT,d till December. Hard to believe really. I hope not a ringer as after 3 registered keepers when Arnold Clark got it i received speeding tickets. Then seemingly it wrote off a car outside a huge Salvage Yard in Wakefield. During Lock Down and the Cherished Plate it went to Arnold Clark was mine and it was back to it,s original number. My car with the reg number supposedly in the accident was at a MOT Station in Forfar and it was during Lockdown. *It always brushed up quite nicely.* Blue Jimny. SM53 HLD. 21 years old. £63,101 miles at the last MOT. Read the failures list. 2018 I MOT,d to trade in. 2019 lol.

- Skoda Felicia hood scoop?
? What are you fitting, a scoop with a grill and a filter behind? EDIT. Sorry missed seeing this. Now i know.- How long do your tyres last?
You would lose your bet. Actually there are many things you would lose bets on. I just sold my Shogun this year.- How long do your tyres last?
@J.R. There are lots of things people should not do. That does not mean they are not going to. I ran them with locked front hubs. Instead of vacuum select hubs.front selected in wet, cold snow and sometimes in the dry. Detroit locker on the rear. I have run various AWD & 4x4,s for many years. Usually as tow barges for small 4x4s.- Drive mode having no effect
@joe77 A previous keeper could well have been disabled or just wanted more Steering Assistance. Like brake assistance, Traction Control and other things, like an engine remap adjustments can be made from the Factory Setting or choices and maybe not Returned to Factory Settings. Happens with car from MOTABILITY regularly. Adjusted for the driver when new, run for 3 years, serviced and mot,d before hand back and going to auction and not Reset to Factory Option. Or just the same with people like maybe come to Briskoda and ask how to code something, then punt a car as they had it set. Re LIGHT STEERING. Often that is Tyres fitted or pressures run that can be the issue. Like running an ECO Tyre pressure. Or the Summer tyres of what ever type, then change tyres, fir all-seasons and the steering feeling changes.- An Oil Problem?!
- An Oil Problem?!
Welcome. @SkodaAndyVRS I wonder if they actually used 0w 20 FS IV. As for the engines later than yours. ? Who did you speak to at Skoda. Is that Skoda CZ, UK, a Master Tech or Customer Services? Customer Services know nothing. 0.5 litres in 1,000 km, 621 miles, so 1 litre in 1,242 miles. It is not acceptable just because VW Group said may use as much. UK, commuting, no extreme conditions or speeds. not towing over the Alps in High Season. They have said the same for decades. The oil that should be used with the 2.0 TSI Euro 5 or 6 is VW 504 00 / 507 for fixed or variable servicing. That might well be 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III, maybe the 0w 40 was to that spec. There could be VW502 00 used for Fixed Servicing, Oil & Filter changes. Usually 5w 40 FS. Maybe the 0w 40 was to this spec. I doubt the oil used had anything to do with excessive oil consumption. If to the VW Specs for Fixed or the Long Life for Variable. Euro 5 or Euro 6 TSI,s. Is there enough of the oil going in, Top of the Crosshatch on the Dip Stick when the engine oil is at the Normal Operating Temperature. That is the indicated 90*oC or so Parked on the flat, engine off and dipped after a few minutes. So 4 or 5 minutes.- Adaptive Lane Assist - Do I have it?
It is doing nothing under 37 mph. & then some cars are just set with not much sensitivity / nudging.- 'Take over steering' message
People do all sorts of stuff. Jam a Water bottle in between the spokes and wheel rim. Soft drink cans, heavyish Bulldog clamps etc. Works on some vehicles that have not got a camera as part of the 'take over steering' system.- Selling a car private
@Aspman Not necessary to be an Auto, not all disabled drivers or passengers need an auto. Some just easy in and easy out. & Many a district nurse or carer want a Jimny.- the truth about electric cars
I saved more than if i had used BP Pulse if i have known by charging Tesla non Tesla twice today.- Windscreen wash fluid - what do you use (in Aus / NZ)?
- Selling a car private
Sit it in a super market car park with a For Sale sign. Near the Disabled Bays. Just a phone number. Maybe sit near in car and see just how much interest there is.- Selling a car private
Jimny,s sell for pretty high prices used. Crazy in some instances. Forget dealers trading in offers as they rub their hands in glee at getting one in. My last one I wanted shifted went to Arnold Clark as I knew it needed lots. They doubled what I paid putting it to auction then in the traffic it resold a couple of times with crazy asking prices. My loss but I wanted it away quick... Just be prepared to get visited by some real dodgy geezers if selling from home. Also expect a visit later in the middle of the night.- the truth about electric cars
Unusual for my local hub in as far as the 4 rapids are all in order and have been getting used. ID Buzz commercials used by MITIE left as I arrived. 55 pence a kWh though no matter if on the 7 / 11/ 22 or 43 kW AC or 50 kW Rapids. PS. Crap charging speed though for these types of EV ,s. 100 / 100+ needed the likes of here at side of the A90 / trunk routes. If you want 100 plus charging Dundee to the South and 18 miles, or Perth going west 30 miles or Aberdeen or Aberdeen by-pass 55 miles.- Windscreen wash fluid - what do you use (in Aus / NZ)?
- How long do your tyres last?
OK. I think a load of guff and that comes from my decades of driving Jimnys with Rear Wheel drive and selecting front wheel drive, or locked AWD, and various part time AWD systems. But then that was always tyres fitted with plenty tread to start with and suitable for what ever conditions. Then really they are maybe not on that long as far as mileage as always getting change about.- How long do your tyres last?
The certainly slip / spin a bit more before an ASR / TC acts to cut power or nip the brakes than the likes of a AWD / Part time AWD with Haldex which detects spin quickly and has the rears then giving drive / traction. For some reason @J.R. seems to think a 4x4 increases wear.- Windscreen wash fluid - what do you use (in Aus / NZ)?
Plenty threads over the years on your Fan Spray Nozzles and VW / Audi branded Screen Wash from the Tears of Virgins. Here are just some.- Difficulty shifting from 1st to 2nd only when moving
Edit is the 3 dots top right hand side. But you have a limited time to edit if not a Freedom Member. - Skoda Felicia hood scoop?
