the truth about electric cars
@wyx087 The thing with Tesla or Tesla non Tesla or Tesla subscription is that requires that you are going to be near Tesla Superchargers, so in Scotland or RofUK even though there are lots of Superchargers and more coming there are plenty that are not near the Cities or large towns where they are so the Charging Prices available are not relevant to them. If you travel about your own area and are public charging in that area using Council Chargers or Public Non Tesla chargers then that is the tariffs that mater for those that can not charge at home, or work. The Social Divide of private BEV drivers is the cost of running them.

the truth about electric cars
Lots of Tesla on UK roads that were bought by people who got Free EV charging and still do. I know someone with 2. But he is not near a Tesla Supercharger much other than when one or other of the Tesla X are in to get repairs. Loads of Videos of High Mileage Tesla about & peoples stories about their experiences from new or used.

the truth about electric cars
So with an EV @ 50 pence a kWh and 4 miles a kWh that is 81 kWh x 4 324 miles. Which is nice. For those getting that efficiency & price & a vehicle cheaply thanks to Tax Payers / HMRC BIK. ............ My young lad is with friends and in their EV and is rather impressed. I can see him going for a Kia rather than a Hyundai Ionic 5 N. He said 635bhp. Not sure on that, 577 bhp is what i can find.

the truth about electric cars
@wyx087 Cheaper with TESLA Charging or 55 pence a kWh or less. Not once you are using PodPoint @ 62 or 65 pence, or 70 Pence Glasgow City chargers, or 63, 69 or 79 pence BP, or 75, 79 pence chargers from others or 85 pence InstaVolt. 50 kWh @ 62 pence is £31. 4 miles a kWh x 50 = 200 miles. 4.7 gallons @ £6.50 is £31. 42.5 mpg x 4.7 =200 miles. EDIT, Diesel prices up. £7 a gallon. 55 mpg, x 4.4 gallon 242 miles.

Manual gearbox oil change
@nta16 In 2012 VW did a world wide recall on DQ200 7 speed Twin Clutch DSG,s because of sulphur / corrosion and a blowing fuse and loss of drive. (That World Wide Recall excluded Europe because seemingly the climate / environment was different to the likes of New Zealand, where cars got a new MCU.) In some world regions they got a 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty extension. In Europe tough titty if it goes pop. So the Synthetic oil was changed to Mineral & a software update was done. (Eventually in 2014 in Europe a Service Campaign was called on 2009-2012 DQ200,s) Then in 2017 a Service campaign was called on some 2013-2015 DQ200,s, Heat / Pressure / Cracks, leaks, failures.

Shame about the engines/gearbox
They need to get the Low C02 emissions during the WLTP / RDE2 and Euro 7 emissions are coming so it is Electrification you are getting and 2 pedal cars. There will soon be no manual boxes as a choice because VW / Skoda / Seat / Audi / Porsche are not selling enough BEV, so the need to get PHEV,s and MHEV,s sold in bigger numbers.

the truth about electric cars
@Lady Elanore It really does not matter if he really could not charge the Tesla faster, what matters is that he thought he could but was so entitled that he would not bother to go move his car and allow an other driver to charge if they needed too. But then it was not his device so i will cut him some slack. This was the SWARCO Maintenance division Techs car that had fixed the charger, an e-Volt charger manufactured by the SWARCO owned factory and from 'A ticket' raised with SWARCO employees working on behalf of Charge Place Scotland since they administer it. Surely the Competition & Markets Authority should be looking into this. The charger where a Jag I-Pace was locked into for days an someone removed the CCS cable from charger and yet the car could still not be moved for 4 days. The Tech that released the cable from the car did it without the car keys and without 'Isolating the HV Battery', but a man has to do what a man has to do, and there is a safe way to do it.

3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?
@Routemaster1461 i have only once not been able to choose a registration number from a Dealers List of allocated numbers with new cars and that was last August and because the car was in the showroom as a demonstrator and had been PDI,d in June and already had a reg number (no plates on the car) but the sales lady had not let on about that to me and said HQ allocated them.

- Paris to Dakar (and back)- oil cleaner in petrol tank, problems in high gears…
Lets go to before the Fueling issue, Is the 1.2 TSI fitted with armoured leads? (cylinder 3 especially.) Is the car running the upgraded Timing chain and tensioner that many pre 2011/12 required. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/495806-ht-leads-skoda-fabia Then there is the fuel, the tank etc. ? Is the Ant-freeze / Summer Coolant / Rust inhibitor in the Colling System at the correct ratio. Is the engine oil the right spec for the temps the engine is running at? maybe 0w 30 FS III VW504 00 / 507 00. Is the Air Filter clean?- Looking to buy a superb
You can do as you like. Employees are the responsibility of Employers, and it is other peoples cars they are working on. They surely know who has been trained and is qualified and knows what they are allowed to do. Them are the rules that most go by. Run a diagnosis and when working on them isolate the HV battery. There are levels of work. Lubricating doors, cleaning the interior....- Looking to buy a superb
@MarkyG82 You need to isolate the battery before you start work on them.- 3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?
The cars must be on the SKODA UK System. They are the importer. So the cars are delivered to the Dealerships and not paid for SKODA / UK who own them. ? Are they First Registered yet, or had a PDI or the car cars sitting waiting for this?- Looking to buy a superb
There are videos of DQ381,s servicing in various threads on here, or just look on Youtube. The DQ400-e DSG is not always going to be getting serviced as it should like a new member found when looking at a 1.4 TSI PHEV. The Dealership staff said a Hybrid so they did not service the DSG. That is because it needs a trained and qualified EV Technician, not because not due doing. @MarkyG82 Was yours serviced and at a main dealers? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/523791-buying-a-35-45k-miles-superb-iv- Looking to buy a superb
A DQ381 DSG has a proper filter that should be replaced. It is a 80,000 mile Schedule that VW / Skoda give, there are rather far too many with MCU issues before that, likely not related to the service schedule as even pretty new ones have leaked or failed.- Looking to buy a superb
Main Dealers do not do Servicing extras by Time / MIles unless the customer is paying. If Spark Plugs are getting replaced at 40,000 miles / 4 years then the customer had to pay, even a service plan might not have included that. As for a Airfilter at 6 years / 60,000 miles, the tech might not even check the Airfilter before 6 years. I would check it every year. Lots of Skoda Approved Used cars have not the Brake Fluid replaced at 3 years,(now 2 years) or a VAQ diff at 3 years (now @ 2 years), or the Haldex or DSG might not be done before they sell if outstanding. There were 5 year / 50,000 mile cars without Cam Belt changes with FMDSH, and come last July they drop that. Loads of 50,000 mile 1.5 TSI ACT,s coming back into Dealerships as Trade In,s and not had a Cam Belt change and the Dealerships were not doing before resale. This gives an idea of Fixed Regimes from 2020, not all correct, not all DSG,s are at 40,000 miles, DQ200,s no oil changes and cam belts schedule changed. Bottom chart was as it was when Minor / Interim & Major, pre 2020 and still not always everything was done. Lots were at 2nd Majors.- Can you please help me locate my colour code?
- Looking to buy a superb
@Cyclone A FSH or FMDSH is great, but it should show that Servicing & Maintenance was done to the Manufacturers Guidelines, recommendations, advice or Specifications / schedule. Just because a Dealership did Oil & Inspection Services & Extended Scope does not mean the owners had Extras done which are not really extras bit Service items that there were not told needing doing, or that a Service Plan did not include. Paper receipts / invoices or a Certificate of Servicing showing what was done is better than a place saying FMDSH and it not being full of everything it should have had.- 2.0TDI 4x4 DSG problems
As it is the VW Group / Skoda buy in the consumables, they do not manufacture / produce them. DQ250 servicing is not quite as involved as doing the DQ381.- Cupra Born
- Parking light
The Coding is going to have to be reset or the fault found then. The Sidelights should be the same brightness if just them on or the dipped beam / full beam headlights are on.- Looking to buy a superb
- My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
A nice day but not warm. Before cleaning car and fitting Summer tyres / wheels I took a run to see the established solar farm and the site of the proposed one and while there tried some 0-60 mph runs on the all-seasons using DRAGY. Best times not great and the 1st and 3rd in the same direction, start spot where the sun hits the road & with tail wind not head wind and TC & Dynamic just left as default. Turning stuff off is no assistance. 6.67 & 6.59 seconds 0-60 mph.- My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
@Winston_Woof have a look at the case of E10 petrol in the UK. The government had not given the support to those producing bio-ethanol in the UK for use in the production of the E10 so it is cheaper to import than it can be produced and sold in the UK. As it is not all E10 in the UK had 10% bio-ethanol in it. Kidoligy is the issue over Green matters with the UK government. Then the issue is using land / crops that can feed people to produce Bioethanol in other world regions. People are starving around the world. - Paris to Dakar (and back)- oil cleaner in petrol tank, problems in high gears…
