  1. It depends how much you were paying as to what was done over and above Oil & Filter changes.
  2. All the best of wishes for her and the Block family, friends and team.
  3. There are threads / posts here where others have had the vehicles suspension damaged with the Transport Blocks left in and then parts have required replacing. The inspection needs doing and really it is the Dealership or their insurers that need to pay out it is not a Warranty issue. It is the Dealerships, Master Tech and Dealer Principal that are allowing incompetents to risk the lives of customers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/493661-transportation-blocks-still-in-place-three-years-later
  4. @mccririckAre you just trying out the charger @ Aldi to see how it goes. Be aware of stupid car parking with 2 hour max parking and CCTV / ANPR and fines that do not exclude those charging. There were comments and pictures in the past on ALDI and the PARKING COMPANY antics. Maybe not there.
  5. There is no reason that it should not work with an extension cable fully unwound. I use one from the house and the end and plug into it are in a waterproof box. Charging my MINI Electric and a full charge takes near 15 hours charging at a max of 7A.
  6. @mccririckIt is 65 pence a kWh on a fast charger. and a Rapid is 85 pence. Tesco is just 44 pence for the 7 kW, still too expensive IMO. Sheriff Brae, CPS is 50 pence a kWh on 7 kW chargers. All just crazy prices. What is wrong with plugging into the 3 pin at home if you can at 27 pence and getting about 2 kW an hour in?
  7. Lots of the 7 kW chargers were not working this morning at the Airport and nobody had posted on ZapMap or PlugShare, actually hardly anyone ever does. I do for every charger i use, working or not working. Looking at chargers for a PHEV driver in the Octavia Section, par for the course for Shell Re-Charge. I have never ever managed to get one to work. 5 locations i think so far. I would not want to pay 59 pence to charge at 11 kW anyway. I have done to get 11 kW when nothing else, actually paid 70 pence a kWh on a 11 kW charger.
  8. @mccririckI passed it going to and from Lidl this morning. No use to you though, you can not sit an hour to get 3.6 kWh or less. You will use more than 10 kWh getting there & back.
  9. @Graham ButcherI have over 65,000 miles of EV charging. I know pretty much where there will be problems. I could often just pay a FULL PRICE TARIFF and get a charge, But then that is crazy prices. I am not a Business User with Tax Benefits and claiming back VAT. Edinburgh City & the Airport is ridiculous as a Capital City for Visitors / Tourists and anyone really needing rapid charging. Charge Place Scotland is ridiculous, hopeless, not fit for purpose. Public Charging can be very expensive, or reasonable or Free. Free causes issues with the greedy and ignorant. The Scottish Government / Transport Scotland have Millions spent on the Infrastructure and are TOMMY. Deaf, Dumb & Blind and probably the only Pin Ball they play is with their Salaries & Expenses. Too expensive.
  10. I just registered on the App. Not checked prices yet. Likely i will never use them as i pay for my own energy. Handy of desperate though.
  11. No idea ask VendElectric or Someone that uses them. Look at the page and the app. PS I am going to join, i was stuck this morning for a charge at 7 am at Airport and went to PodPoint Broxburn to get charged.
  12. @mccririckYou are looking for Type 2 AC chargers. 7 kw or 11 kw and you are only going to get 3.6 kW charging. You can not sit at a Shell Recharge Charger for a couple (or 3) of hours charging a PHEV. You want the Longer stay chargers that are all around Edinburgh. They call them FAST Chargers, they are not FAST. Loads were out of Service @ Ingilston Early today and all 6 Rapids were Dark, No power. There were DC Rapid Chargers. Wallyford Park & Ride as an example of 7 kW chargers. On ZapMap what you are looking for show as BROWN, or might be beside the Purple markers.
  13. P1ssed right off. But PodPoint to the rescue. Yesterday late BP Pulse Hearthill Services. 3 chargers would not start with my BP Pulse membership card. Could not read screen in the setting sun, small writing and in French ???. So tried Phone with credit in another old account. No go. Called helpline and no answer just a satisfaction survey.. used debit card and charged at high tarrif 10 kWh. Enough till this morning. At airport and drop off partner. Go to Park and Ride, 5 BP Pulse chargers have no power, charge place Scotland. Old charger is lit up, plug in and get locked in. Hit the emergency stop button. Came out and passed new BP Pulse charger at BP station went round circuit got to it and tried membership card. No go. So 5 miles out to a Lidl and PodPoint, going to charge to full on my Credit even though not cheap as heading north and will top in Perth and Kinross at 35 pence a kWh then intend charging Tesla non Tesla in Aviemore. Alternatives always required incase. Weather or just unreliable EV charging places. As I came out of airport drop off I see that EV drivers have to press assistance button to get a discounted rate. PS /EDIT. 18.5 kWh £12.00. 3.3 miles to kWh through torrential rain in Fife and temp at around 3*oC. Just 61 miles for £12.00 not good.
  14. In Sport / S is how i drive almost every car. Petrol / Diesel, Hybrid / PHEV or BEV. With the likes of a Niro you can compare like for like vehicle size / weight. Get moving and 'coast' using coast function or just how done for years with autos, lift off the accelerator. Most cars i drive especially modern ones can be like slugs in ECO or Normal / D. Sometimes OK in traffic going slow and if you get lighter steering than in Sport / S. It is all about trying what you like, and location location location. Some cars regeneration is ridiculous in bring a car to a halt and no regen. One pedal driving.
  15. I am in Scotland so talking all season / all weather tyres. Not Sport summer tyres. Talking getting about in all conditions and not too much TC / ASR flashing if still wanting to get a move on.
  16. PS. My young lad just wrecked another 245/35 R 20 front tyre on his beemer. Struggled to find a tyre available today or this weekend in Edinburgh without getting a Run Flat at a few hundred quid. Had eventually managed to get one but not mobile fitting. He does go through tyres quicker than me. But the 205/45 r 17 on the Mini are very vulnerable. Waiting to see if ok on snow but fine in the wet. I was not happy to start but dropped the pressures a bit and fine.
  17. I will chose pressures and treads that grip regardless of economy over higher pressures, ECO tyres which achieve better mpg with less grip so friction / traction. There are some real crap tyres fitted as standard.
  18. I gave / left the brand new tyres to the fitter to sell or give away. Probably went with the scrap tyres. I would not want my worst enemy taking their nearest and dearest on the crap that was on the MINI. I have the Primacy 4 from 2020 sitting and could put them on rims and use in summer but they were bl00dy dangerous on the Corsa in the wet.
  19. All sh1te. You drive your car tuned as it is the way you drive, as we all do. (Not your car ) We buy the fuel and pay for it so we can check ourselves. Tyres, pressures, fuel, temperatures. We should know where and when we are placed and if there is any difference. All I want is easy starts and smooth running and if the mpg is the same or no better I care not. If I floor the pedal I want no misfires. No limp mode, no car up my jacksy and me getting overtaken. Well not if it is a less powerful rep mobile.
  20. Just read on my phone an article from THE SUN so not really a newspaper. EV Drivers risk £100 fines. The story, less range, blocking roads. How to look after the car, garage, cover and all this jazz. So the SUN has warned us, don't be a Rodney. I have 600 plus miles to do this next 4 days, I will try not to hold up anyone by rolling to a dead stop on a carriageway.
  21. I can link you Tesco's testing they had done in 2012 with their 95 Ron and 99 and AN Others. But it was about less emissions. But clearly they were showing for better efficiency. Then in the UK all E5, Super unleaded is not the same as far as formulation and location location location. Storage ,,/ distribution reasons. GREENERGY part owned by TESCO PLC produce and Distribute Momentum 99 & also ESSO Fuels in some parts of the UK and other fuels E5 / E10 to other independents / retail forecourts. 388380a097b04fe693a8c27db8bb4974 (1).pdf 6ca06d648b9541e78fa838fece4a1a23 (1) (12).pdf
  22. If that is the T&C,s and all set out then you just need to be sure all that is done at the Services. It is what was in the Skoda Interim (minor) / Major fixed price servicing before the 2020 changes. It did not mean that everything was always done. Remember to check they did the Body Work Inspection and log it for the Corrosion Warranty. Bottom chart in Green as it was pre 2020, and still is with some Dealers / Service Providers. Not the prices though. But actual Servicing and Maintenance and it should not be ticking as done if not done, or a Tech deciding plugs not getting replaced or filters and not even checking them.
  23. I drive an EV so it is easy to see how energy is used and regenning puts power back in. For the OP I will give an example. Say I am in Peniciik and head down to Cameron toll be it in an EV, hybrid, ICE or what ever I can use little fuel, electricity or even produce electricity. If I go into Edinburgh and head back the same way to Penicuik up hill I might have used up any saving going down hill. But if I am into town and go out to the Gyle, come back up the by-pass and then out by Hillend and then back into Penicuik by Mauricewood I might have used less energy / fuel by the time and even driven further. That's how regeneration can make a difference. With hybrids / self charge hybrids you might look at circular routes. True , what goes down needs to get back up but hypermilers get to be aware or efficient routes. Like cyclists might as well. In an EV there are routes I might have the range going anti clockwise but not Clockwise. Eg. Cairngorm routes, Angus glen circular routes etc. Steep uphill and high energy use and then long downhill sections to lower levels, sea level and a route back home / starting point, without much climbing. Doing in reverse i would maybe need to get a charge someplace.
  24. @gtludwigWelcome. If you never dipped the oil after the car was serviced you have no idea if they put enough oil in at the service. & if you read the owners manual or that mechanic / tech / fitter did you would see what it says in manuals about the first 5,000 km and may use more oil. And about 0.5 litres 1,000 km. So he reads it wrong or you heard wrong. Same stuff printed in manuals for decades for all VW group engines petrol or diesel. 3 to 12 cylinder. 44 kW up to whatever. In the owners manuals on Driving in, or as many talk about Running in.
