  1. "EV appeasing media". 2nd video. Well it will all come out in the wash. So maybe better wait for the report. Maybe have a read of articles linked at the side of the article i linked in the last post of the previous page.
  2. The 14" rim is not a problem if it fits over the disc brakes, and it has the correct circumference / total diameter tyre to be near to the 4 tyres on the car if it needs putting on as an emergency spare with you reducing your speed and it is for an emergency only.
  3. Avoid a 1.6 TDI CR Euro 5 because of VW's / Skoda,s Defeat device and cars that went in for the voluntary recall that was to benefit VW group and nobody else got new Software and a airflow device installed. There will be good ones about, probably that a Dealership never got to touch, or that someone had the new map rolled back and remapped. (Proof of that is the issue.)
  4. The John Clark Motor Group thankfully is nothing like and no way involved with the Arnold Clark Motor Group. Chalk and cheese. http://www.john-clark.co.uk/about-us/meet-the-team/ http://linkedin.com/in/john-fallon-8379b368/?originalSubdomain=uk http://linkedin.com/in/allan-smith-40553230/?Subdomain=uk
  5. Which is perfectly OK, one is void / invalidated because another is current. You have cover with one but not the other. The other was unnecessary, possibly mis-sold, or just buyer beware and never read the small print, maybe never got the small print in print. The beauty is that it is Skoda UK & 2 Scottish Motor Groups / Dealers and their full time jobs are cars sales and related servicing and customer services / financial services. So when you talk to them or actually Skoda / VW UK, be sure it is Skoda or Dealership Employees and not some contractor.
  6. They are always cheaper when little demand, or when advertised yet not available. The Vredestein Quatracs are good and i have a set of the new EV version ready for going on. Take the 91 V over the H because you are running them all the time including nice warm and sunny dry days. Narrower tyres are supposedly better in snow, mud, rain etc, you are using them more than in that conditions though. but this is the world now and tyres now, so good treads and more of them and sipes.
  7. The thing is if sold a 2nd Warranty when you have a valid warranty, was someone Mis-selling' if that means you have no Warranty Cover. A question for the Warranty Providers, and the Seller, or their bosses. Mis-selling of a financial product.
  8. For that sort of usage & good value there is the MG Estate car, as used by Taxi Drivers / Private hire / Airport Transport. If you need bigger then there are Long Wheel Base EV's from Stellantis. But they have poor range sadly. PS When there are no cars suitable for your personal usage that run on battery power then you just accept they are not for you and wait a while or just ignore thoughts of EV's.
  9. What Mk4 do you have. What size tyres are on it. Would a matching size not be a good idea? That is not a 'Space Saver' it is a 15" steel wheel and tyre to save space. Plenty spare wheels for a Fabia Mk2 or Mk3 will fit, or just steel wheels and tyres. @Carlstonmight tell you what. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513673-2023-fabia-colour-spare-wheel-16inch
  10. For general information, look at their prices. It was bad when AC were in Inverness, but why go to this bunch?
  11. My thoughts are how did Skoda Specialist Cars Dundee part of the John Clark Group deal with things. (I know how HAWCO might. Sh!tes.) Was this Skoda Approved Used Car Serviced to Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines, Specification or even Schedule when SSC,s Dundee put that Warranty on it? Was the VAQ diff serviced @ 3 years or 30,000 miles, or before they sold it to you? Get the Master Tech at Skoda Specialist Cars Dundee to support your Warranty Claim. Maybe an issue is Hawco were doing the Service, work and not helping yu/ Talk with the Dealer Principal in Dundee if you are not already, and if necessary, a Senior Management / Director of John Clark Motor Group. All done in writing, as well as in person. PS Once you get this all sorted, go for a day to Maud, Aberdeenshire and have Victoria Garage (Skoda) service and maintain your car.
  12. Opening the drivers door primes the fuel when the car has been sat an hour or 3 or longer. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/217514-motor-noise-upon-opening-drivers-door-but-not-the-other-doors
  13. As it is the Skoda Citigo iV (EV) would have been selling like hotcakes if Skoda UK were not only allowed to import 400. The New Small VW Group EV,s would sell like hotcakes if VW stopped bumping their gums about new tech and low prices and just produce the VW, SEAT, Skoda or Audi versions and sell them to the public. 'They need magic to happen and for them to some how conjure up some actual new tech & then sell cars at a loss.'
  14. @Jonnyhatesjazz70I see from the thread you have posted what your Air Filter is. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/515916-pipercross-1621 This kind of thing makes a difference. ? Do you know when the spark plugs were last replaced? Was the DSG serviced at 40,000 miles? Just asking since you said the service was done on Monday.
  15. An article about a shipping company in Norway. Note, 'Classic ferry route'. http://ctif.org/news/norwegian-shipping-company-bans-electric-cars-board-classic-ferry-route Worth doing a search. Norway Electric Car Fires. Articles on the Ferries, the Car Park Fire and various research and reports. If not getting an EV or getting in one or getting on a car ferry maybe just chill. If you are concerned maybe best stay in the house as the world is a risky place. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/homenews/23595526.hidden-threat-scots-ferry-safety-electric-vehicles http://cesafety.co.uk/news/data-reveals-extent-of-electric-vehicle-fires-around-the-uk Misleading title as 'No records were sent for Scotland' So not 'Around the UK.' Good that Electric Fire Engines have been developed. http://greencarguide.co.uk/features/scotland-and-electric-vehicles-whats-happening Scottish Fire & Rescue must have done safety assessments before the employees truck about in the Electric cars and vans. http://electrive.com/2021/11/01/scottish-fire-rescue-service-relies-on-edf-for-charging
  16. Where did you get the instructions from that you followed? I would put in a standard one and see if the car runs better and more economically.
  17. I was cursing the driver on the VW e_Up because the other Rapid in town was out of service & they had plugged into the Rapid and got 3 kWh in 30 minutes and it was at 99%. I went on the AC for a couple of kWh and when the charger cut out on the VW i unplugged it and started charging. Not long after i had started a Parking Warden came past and we were in conversation about those that just take the Michael or do not understand charging. Thankfully i kept him occupied a while or a long while before he was getting around to doing a ticket for being in an EV Bay and not charging. The couple arrived back and were apologetic and he accepted they were visitors and in a hire car and unfamiliar with how it works and how the car charges. I spent the next hour chatting with them. A lovely lively couple. Just the usual, arrived at the airport and got an EV and thought how bad can it be. No real tutorial on the car and the battery size or charging and they have muddled by. They have Edinburgh to get to and charge, then another 100 plus miles south to go before returning the car and were told it has to be at 100%. What a horlicks the whole EV car hire thing is as far as i have seen from those getting ones in Scotland and having to figure out charging.
  18. Lots and lots and lots of wind turbines. One went on fire in the wind farm off Norfolk the other day. Nobody on board and no need for any fire fighting.
  19. Maybe they have left an oil seal on or over tightened the filter. Assuming the correct filter was used for your 2011 car. Is it a 1.2 TSI? Have them check and remove the filter, they messed up a simple and routine job. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/513601-warning-bosch-oil-filters-for-12-tsi-ea-cbzacbzg-engines
  20. Paint them black! 'Simples'.
  21. The Grey Cable that comes with the MINI 11/22 kW AC is much heavier than the one i had which is much longer. (Stick wrapped.) I like this Black MINI Cooper John Works and it is the only roof fade one i have seen that looked good. Having just had to wash of dirt from back roads covered in dry and wet dirt i am glad i never went Black.
  22. Dundee Port this morning.
  23. I am sitting charging free again and in the car. Ready to exit quickly if the car goes on fire. Someone is paying for the electricity obviously and that is maybe those that pay the energy bills generally and those that have to look at wind farms or are being disrupted or disturbed by them. Plenty of then around Scotland and more and more solar farms and ones planned. There is a new one proposed within 1 mile of where I am in a NHS car park. There is also a Battery Storage facility planned within 1/2 a mile. That with the National Grid planned new bigger pylons going to be 2 miles away bringing electric from the offshore and onshore turbines south should mean plenty of the electricity needed around here will be generated locally. Maybe the cost of energy to home owners, business,s and non EV drivers can drop or be free at off peak times when the grid needs balanced and it is not just the Energy Generators / wind farms being paid to not generate. PS. Quite a high use of EV,s in Scotland per capita. The instances of EV fires in Scotland over the past 12 years should be easily found.
  24. Do you need AWD, and are you driving on twisty roads or just accelerating hard every now and again for thrills. They are just Taxi / Airport transport sized vehicles and hardly hooning vehicles.
  25. @Graham ButcherThat is quite a list. It is only right that the Fire & Emergency services should be prepared with training and the equipment to deal with accidents or fires involving EV,s. Just like there is equipment at airports to deal with incidents or fires of aircraft. All good for the circular economy and those providing training and equipment. There is going to need to be plenty of exercises with the Fire & Emergency Services staff dealing with EV fires as real life incidents are very few and far between at the present time it seems in the UK.
