Brake disc rust/scoring
@MO230Does it need new discs all around but the pads are just fine, or is that just there advice on wear and tear because they are not going to replace them under warranty. If you were to go trade it today then it is very unlikely there would be new discs getting fitted. What made it major service at 3 years old? Was the Brake fluid replaced which was something more than the 2nd service, but then that was the same as the first one other than the Pollen filter done last year.

Extended warranty for Karoq
Some models engines are having some more concerned and some DSG,s if you have a keeper. So a 1.5 TSI ACT, or a DQ200 DSG or a DQ381 DSG might have owners considering the chance of these failing. An Extended Warranty on the early 1.5 TSI ACT,s is really a no brainer. Also on a DQ381 on any engine / vehicle.

Wiper blade hitting the drivers A pillar, removing paint
So not 'Poundland' specials put on before you bought the car. Good old UK, we went metric light. Then we showed them who is boss. Still drive miles, talk of MPG and buy fuel in litres, and measure wheels and wiper in imperial and tyre width in metric.

Advice on buying a Skoda Octavia
@harry999 Welcome. Is a Scala too small for you? Skoda UK might have a few of these coming in to the UK over the next month or so and they might be do offers to get them sold and first registered.

Two black pipes running front to back on underside of chassis
@Jockster52If you want use E5 / 97 or 99 ron. From Sainsbury or Tesco it might not cost more to fill the tank than your E10 if you are not buying it from cheap places.

Before doing the adjustments check the correct blades are on the wiper arms. Length.

Mk2 Fabia VRS Steering Rack
With the Fabia, especially a vRS, check that the parts 2010-2012 CAVE engine are the same as 2012-2014 CTHE. Just that the rear axle changed, no idea about, front end. Then as far as 'Track rod'. there was a TPI and Warranty work needed around 2011/12 on mk2,s, No idea if there was upgraded parts, or just replaced a duff batch. That was vRS and Monte Carlo and maybe all trims.

Two black pipes running front to back on underside of chassis
@Jockster52 Good, ask them to secure them higher up. See the 2 threads i bumped from years gone by. There are similar in the Mk2 Fabia section and elsewhere. That is how Skoda roll sometimes. QC not the greatest from the factory, and dealership where 'they are all like that. Other than the ones that are not obviously. Pictures from posts in another thread.

Two black pipes running front to back on underside of chassis
@Jockster52 Were you speaking to Skoda or some random person at a Skoda dealership? 5-6 year old cars have stuff happen, even newer cars do, can you not fix them up, and if not i assume you will need to pay someone to, or did you just buy this car?

Extended warranty for Karoq
So a 'Skoda Approved car warranty'. If an Approved used car rather than just a 'Extended Warranty'. VWFS_11815379_SKODA_AUW_Booklet_0922E.pdf

handbrake and sticky brakes 68 plate
@EnterNameYip. And with cars with the Parking brake which is rear discs and with a drum and shoes as well/ Really i am meaning with drums in this thread. Wet roads, then when washing cars and scooshing water at wheels you would not expect the H2o to get inside the drums, but it might just be condensation in some cases, because there is damp can get in there, and ice forming when the weather is cold enough. Ground / grass temperature can be several degrees cooler than Air temp in winter. Even cold times not in winter. Air temperature is taken at more than a meter above ground. Some car outside Temperatures are read at the front not that high up. Some are read with the sensor on the door mirror. That is not the Ground / road temperature.

is buying a used ev more risky than buying a used ice ?

- the truth about electric cars
Night time tariff for 4 hours. 7 kW charger, maybe as much as 28 kWh charged at that low rate. 6 hours 42 kWh maybe. Fair enough. Much cheapness. Lovely stuff for those with home chargers and vehicles home during the low tariff The Future is bright, maybe even orange. All these chargers being installed and that hopefully is actually being connected and available to use, and going to be maintained and reliable. The article does say 'switched on'.- the truth about electric cars
This guy needs to actually visit Dundee and see where the low emission zone is and where you can currently drive to in it. B0;llocks from him IMO.- Skoda service history check request - Does any one have access to erWin Skoda please?
It seems that you were not that convinced. Skoda UK or Skoda Main Dealers in the UK say @ 5 years regardless of what is said for other World / Global regions with more extreme environmental conditions than can ever be expected in the UK.- Brakes

- Rear Drum Brakes sticking.
Bump. For @Tdawber Then this, http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/478186-does-the-mark-three-fabia-have-rear-disc-brakes Brakes do require Servicing and Maintenance be they Drum or Disc. Sadly that is not part of Main Dealer Servicing, it is an extra, or just too much bother for them. A good independent is needed really for Servicing & Maintenance. IMO.- handbrake and sticky brakes 68 plate
http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/489482-rear-drum-brakes-sticking OT but, Red Pavers much worse for holding the cold / ice / snow than Grey ones. My mums parking area has red pavers. Tragic. I keep telling people who will listen but LIDL are as stupid to put red ones at Disabled parking bays in Scotland and where they might do no gritting. But then there are places that paint the surface of a Disabled Bay or EV charging bay, like in my local. Re, 'Full service 2.5 years ago. Unless specified exactly what was done then unlikely to be that 'Full a service' if at a Skoda Main Dealers. .................................. So the rear drums were always supposed to be part of Skoda Main Dealer Servicing at Major Services, bi-annual. Remove drum and clean. About 13 years ago it was showing as being done on Skoda Websites for Minor & Major Servicing, then they went to inspect / check and that was through the spy hole on the back plate. For many a year there are places that supposedly did service drum brakes that yet never have the wheels off the car by the time of the first or subsequent MOTS. Plenty issues in the Mk2 Fabia section. Car washing can be enough to have brakes sticking on. There was the broken retaining spring issue for years. There is the not able to get an alloy wheel off when eventually needs must, punctures etc because they have been on since fitted at the factory. Loads of threads on that one.- All in One Service Plan - Excludes Brake Fluid change?
Be sure they do that Road Test. Be sure the Body Inspection and report is done for the Corrosion Warranty. If Skoda says no record of being done there is a record of who it is and where not doing them. For Octavia with a VAQ front diff, not only are many not getting done as were @ 3 years / 30,000 miles or as now @ 2 years, owners might not be told required. They might ask and be told it is advised, or optional!- Exhaust joining sleeve clamps failure
@Chic 20 mins actual labour time. So do it your self then, or have someone that does it in 20 minutes do it. The main dealers have a receptionist that should check your car for damage before a tech / fitters takes your car into the workshop, does the job, maybe a free visual inspection, / health check, fills out a work sheet, has the car back around the front and the keys back to the desk. They have high overheads that needs paying for.- Exhaust joining sleeve clamps failure
@Chic Are you going to go to an Independent Exhaust Centre or even a National one or a Independent or Local Garage and maybe pay 1/2 or even less than that?- the truth about electric cars
Article in Fleet News. Electric Vehicle charging times quoted in adverts 'misleading'. http://fleetnews.co.uk/news/manufacturer-news/2023/06/28/electric-vehicle-charging-times-quoted-in-adverts-misleading That will be also with Journalists, publications, reviews etc where those writing or filming just read Media Packs or stuff other wrote and might well never actual charge a vehicle from 0-80%, 0-100%, 20-80%, 20-100% etc etc. Maybe not even drive a car far enough to use a batteries worth. .................. Cars from manufacturers keep getting handed over to people that are not fully sorted out. (Cars not the people...) More Publications need to be running cars long term and using different chargers and systems and see or experience what the General Public might be putting up with. Then calling out manufacturers or vehicles and systems. - EV real world range and cost to charge
