  1. I hope you are not paying the ridiculous price a main dealer charges to replace the spark plugs. As to the air filter you can look at that if you read the thread on here with someone asking why not easy. It is not that difficult and £35-45 charged by a main dealer for something that is around £15 is just too much IMO. They should be checking them at each service and not leaving as long as 6 years because that say that is 'the schedule'.
  2. It really matters not what others have. There are Skoda models without factory preparation or a factory fit towbar that have been Plated with the towing weights. Others might not have and can not tow. Dealers and tow bar fitters will not or should not fit tow bars / tow balls. That does not mean a device just like a tow bar and with a ball does not get fitted to fix carriers for bikes or luggage boxes do not get fitted. Those are out there, people buy those cars and might well end up towing a trailer illegally.
  3. UK filling stations will mostly now have Summer formulation E10, E5 and diesel standard or premium in their tanks. Maybe more bio in the E10 or even E5 than there has been since November. Lots of posts about Engine Lights on or fault codes being read might be expected. Then there are plenty cars that could maybe do with new spark plugs now the air filter at least looked at, and the brakes and other stuff having a post winter service or inspection. Diesels getting a new fuel filter if not done for a few years. Maybe a AdBlue top up.
  4. Welcome. There are new owners that have received cars with a cover recently. That might be a location location location thing, which country or when the car left the factory. There are covers though and being fitted to cars that VW group had to have removed. Just let the seller know you expect your new car to have a new cover. No reason why dealership should be sitting with demonstrators with engine covers while customers cars have not got one.
  5. There is not so much rubbing the face of a cut potato on the windscreen if the wipers fail or a stocking for a fan belt or egg white or pepper in the radiator when you have a leak going on. Removing ignition coils with zip ties does. Best look at the tool needed when doing the cam belt on a 1.0 TSI.
  6. Thanks. So if a FMDSH or just a FSH then are the spark plugs changed already. And had the airfilter even been looked at at the last services?
  7. A mod can maybe move this to the ,MK3 section.
  8. Unless the glass of the factory car is replaced with tinted glass then it is a film applied inside. Accident repair requires replacement standard glass and the tinter then applying tint again, the film, maybe at you to own expense. Plenty buying a car with sunset glass as standard ask about non tinted to use the car as a taxi / private hire as some councils do not allow rear tints.
  9. Not sure what road side repairs you will do other than changing a wheel if you have one. Or a spark plug if you have one and tools. As it is finding the servicing required of recommend is good. Plugs are due if not done, airfilter needs checked, maybe brakes serviced and fluid change, Skoda has the cam belt due a change in the UK, the polls filter should have had a couple of changes at least. So basically it is all the usual with similar cads of recent times. A device to read the OBD being important, and servicing and maintenance.
  10. Ps as to suggestions of higher gears or the likes. It is a DQ200 DSG. It is a case of into D or into S or between the 2 as and when or manual shifts, but really the DSG is working to achieve economy and getting to the higher gears asap unless in S. Then it is at a higher RPM before changing up.
  11. @Alanhipperson25 can you maybe say what power of 1.2 TSI it is, how many miles has as it done, how many miles you have done in it. Has it got new spark plugs, a new air filter and what tyres are fitted, size and type and set at what pressure,? And is the car empty apart from you? All rather important stuff in the economy in the not be dry cold Norfolk even this winter. Any published Economy figures are pre WLTP and just as much fiction. They were done in a building on a rolling road with a car that had at least 3,000 km on the clock.
  12. Edit . Sorry I was posting in the EV section. Electric car Real world . A mod might moved it.. Thank goodness I am driving a diesel this weekend. Left the Corsa in Edinburgh. 3/4 charged. Picked up estate car & grand children and hound eventually 30 miles and a few hours later headed to Glasgow and on for Ayrshire. 2.10 pm left Newbridge. There was a crash at Harthill and a lane closed and then hell in Glasgow with traffic and at 4 pm I was leaving Glasgow on the A77 and I get a call. Key in car for a flat with 2 cats in and security fob on keys, no duplicate. So via Hamilton I got to Euro central. Back to Leith. And 6pm set off again. Easier this time and 120 miles in 2 hours. But comfort, no wuckin furries other than. Kerbing the huge alloys and the length of the thing for a kerb side parking space. Waze and Google was crap trying to find Wishaw to get a route to Edinburgh and it was a Friday and Easter and blue lights everyplace. 750 miles range when I picked up the 520 estate and tonight after 600 miles still showing 225 miles. Doing average 56 mpg. Ps. My son said he would drive to meet me in the Corsa on Friday to get the keys maybe without me coming into Edinburgh. With 99 miles range showing I said not to be daft as he would likely end up out of charge and without being able to leave it for me with enough charge when I get back. As it is looking at how the reports are charger wise and for someone new to it that was a good call. There is 1 rapid near where the car is at a LIDL. So I will be charging at Edinburgh Airport before heading North.
  13. Fine if it had no extra cost as your declare the tint. Not sure it improves security over a car you can see in and that has nothing on show and might have stuff in the boot, compared to blacked out vehicle that could maybe used for business even as a van and can be worth breaking into on the off chance. No fruit and veg is stored in this vehicle overnight stickers maybe worth applying. PS my Shogun was owned by the owner of the biggest chemists and delivery group for medicines in the Strathclyde area. It is a van so what looks like just tints is because a commercial, 2 seat only so no rear windows and extra security that was a PITA to get removed. Lots of estate cars blacked out are doing similar or maybe private ambulances for undertakers.
  14. @YMeI take it that was the fitting of the tow bar. Did the car have Tow Bar preparation from the factory, as in the extra cooling? Not that i expect that is the issue. ? Has your car had the spark plugs replaced? You will need to have it read for any fault codes, like misfires. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/389338-tow-bar-prep-already-fitted http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/458487-towbar-prep-what-is-done-wgen-built
  15. It seems like Jaguar Land Rover for now is OK being Indian owned and having TESLA as a partner to have their EU / UK Average Fleet Emissions so that they are not getting fined. High time it was weight and size of passenger vehicles that get heavily taxed in the UK. Actually taxed on ugliness would be a hard hit on the latest RR's.

As long as they never cleared them. If there were fault codes they should be passing them onto the dealership.
  17. @sepulchraveyou have been saying for a while now that all that matters if you fit the correct spec of spark plugs. Totally ignoring the experience of those with the cars and the knowledge of the issues and the OE plugs and it is the one cylinder that the plug gets fouled in and the tip gets burned up. They are Iridium. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/512184-spark-plugs http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/489770-best-dspark-plugs-for-fabia-mk2
  18. Has anyone on here had their cambelt replaced on a 1.5TSI ACT yet, and how much did that cost?
  19. @YMe Is it the EPC light on? Was your car ordered from the factory with Towing Preparation and has a factory fit towbar, or one fitted later? EDIT. I see factory fit. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509842-detachable-tow-bar-november-2017-octavia-15-tsi-act-dg PS. Out of interest / nosy. Did you get the cam belt replaced and how much did it cost. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505746-67-plate-cambelt-change
  20. I recommend that you do not increase the diameter / circumference to 195/60 R 15 with a 1.4 TSI Twincharger DSG. Actually just go 16" and stick with 205 tyres and not go to 195's. If you do go to 195's you will probable want to change the Steering assist to less assistance. The twincharger sister cars, Polo, Ibiza, A1 come on 215 tyres. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/294303-vcds-steering-assist-polo-gti-setting

It certainly needs diagnosed and dealt with, it was not just an error of you knocking the shifter across to manual 1st. Not uncommon. It would or should have shifted up if you had, even in manual. Was there fault codes when the Skoda Assist responder plugged in and are they saved or did they do a print out?
  22. The prices people are having to pay with Clutch Pack replacement, or that and a MCU or refurbished MCU, or just selector forks is well documented in the Fabia Mk2 section with DQ200's fitted in Mk2 Fabia vRS. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/420740-mk2-fabia-vrs-aka-green-monster/page/3 Bottom of the page. Repair kits and upgraded Actuators have changed / reduced just how much some are paying now for repairs that were being done but may not have been required. My mate less than 1 mile away is a top Automatic Gearbox Specialist and has done plenty DQ200's and a few members here repairs. There is no point me giving any idea how much he charges as lots of his jobs are for dealerships that do not do the work themselves. Or he does the repair required after ridiculous diagnosis and quotes to do the job from the Main Dealers 15 miles or 30 miles away. Doing the flywheel is not that common though. As to a DQ200 DSG is a 2019 car that really needs an explanation to why needed, other than things are broken. Sometimes dealerships employees seem to turn a crisis into a drama. This Service campaign does not apply after 2015. There are TPI's though and Clutch Slip Issues as covered in the Fabia Mk3 Famous DSG Clutch Slip thread. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/463733-14-tsi-auto-flywheel http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/465622-dq200-flywheel-replacement
  23. It is the diff and not just the Haldex? Maybe @J.R.can help you on what has what diff wise. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498884-yeti-rear-differential-siezed

@SFrestonWelcome. What happened, as in did you start it in P, with foot on the brake pedal move the shifter to D and drive off and it stayed in 1st and would not change up to 2nd?
