  1. Work vehicles. 2.0 TDI 150 ps DSG non SCR perfect Taxi / Private hire car in non low emission zone areas / cities. 280 AWD DSG's, maybe Airport Transport / Weddings / Events etc. Apples and pears,. location location location. You use as you need, and the beauty is you can drive them as you want. PS. Black / AWD's. Maybe Funeral cars in winter. Private Ambulance's etc for moving coffins. Silver can be dual use, Wedding or Funeral. White no good for funerals.
  2. Welcome. It certainly is asked all the time, every winter in almost every section. Do as people have had to for decades. You might need to open the window a bit when you are trying to clear the front screen when starting. Try the different settings, get the blower working fast. Auto might not be the best setting, or re-cyle interior air. Try which setting works, different cold / moisture might require different settings and different in each car. So use the AC all the time it works when driving, which is when a few degrees above freezing. Put in rubber mats in winter. Keep the inside as dry as possible. Make sure to open the doors, including the passenger one if no passenger and see the water is draining from them. Put a damp trap in the boot and one in the car. 4 for £4 in ASDA or at other retailers. Ot you get reusable / microwave heat ones etc.
  3. If a tool of the trade and doing 500-700 miles a week the once a year makes absolute sense for servicing the DQ250. I have an EV and meet Hybrid Taxi drivers all the time in the Edinburgh area at charging hubs. They make money, save money. My pal started the EV Taxi trade in Dundee. He had Silver Mercs that drivers hired and is the reason now that Dundee is Electric City. Because of what he did the council got their back ends moving and got the money in from the EU, as Dundee always has. Hands out, take what is on offer. Sadly he has past away. 7 years ago.
  4. I would be using 5w 40 FS even in Thailand and not 5w 30 FS III. The correct oil should not need changed again, but i would have put in 3.9 litres and not 3.6 litres because that has been a mistake from day one with VW / Skoda. The oil level needs to be up at the top of the cross hatch when cold, and again once the Oil Temp has got to an indicated 90 *oC and then after a few minutes. Low oil will have it running hot. Low oil might have a Low oil Pressure light come on. The oil can be 1.3 litres less than 3.6 litres and no warning light or message. If you get a warning. *You can open the bonnet, do nothing, close it and the warning goes out for 100 km. THE OIL IS STILL TOO LOW.*
  5. @Dan13 Is 4,000- 5,000 miles your annual mileage? Drop the oil when at operating temperature. That is a good enough flush. Especially with oil that must be in a pretty good condition. ? Or are you taking the car to track days or something.
  6. Car traders, dealers, brokers just need to get their big girl pants on. Peaks and troughs, like in all business. Farmers and others can not control the weather, or the price of things others charge them, or pay for their product. Prepare for when the markets are great as it has been for some over the past 3 years if they had the stock people wanted. Great for buyers maybe, not for sellers, maybe the opposite of the housing market.
  7. Yes, they never ensured the steering wheel was were it should be. never rolled the car back and fore and never did a road test.
  8. Guest_ replied to Bobov's topic in Skoda Yeti
@Bobovare you any further on finding where the H2o is coming in? I take it you have ice inside this morning.
  9. Welcome. Common, so best go back and ask the manager of the place to put someone competent on the car to correct what the last person did wrong.
  10. @t13nyr. Further to the other thread on engine oil changes. Your DSG needs an oil change every 40,000 miles. So it should have been done twice by now and will be due at 120,000 miles. About £200, depending were you go. Maybe £220 at a main dealer. Taxi drivers should know who is who for finding a trusted mechanic. You have a DQ250 DSG.
  11. So why were they changed, as in was there an issue requiring them. Were the spark plugs changed or replaced. Anything else done? If the correct coils were fitted and correctly gapped plugs then check everything again. Wiring. Or have another cast an eye at your work.
  12. BESPOKE. I forgot that was their term. So do Service Desk Staff and managers. http://skoda.co.uk/owners/bespoke-plans Get your car serviced with what you need when it needs doing and do not expect someone with a NVQ in keyboards, or social care, or food management at a dealership to know what is needed.
  13. Sales people might know nothing about servicing cars, even a Skoda they drive as a daily that they get to 3,000 milres / 3 months in normal times and might never open the bonnet them selves ever, or check tyre pressures or anything else. Old prices and not accurate on DSG's as there are ones that are @ 80,000 miles. just gives an idea. & Fixed interval not variable / flexible.
  14. You never said the age of car or engine you might get. It could be a Cam Belt and no water pump needed @ 5 years. Have a DSG that needs serviced @ 80,000 miles, if a AWD needing the Haldex services. There were various Service Plans with price points and from basic to all inclusive til about 3 years ago. Even Skoda UK and dealers seemed to know nothing about what was what. DSG Oil changes might be at 40,000 or with DQ381 @ 80,000 miles. But if you drive 5,000 miles a year then it will be 8 years before due. @ 80,000 miles well 16 years if the same miles per year. If it is a DQ200 DSG car there is no Oil change / service on the DSG. That sort of thing then applies to a car with Haldex, or a VAQ diff, cars with a manual hand brake or an e-Brake. Cam Belt, or Timing belt.
  15. Welcome. ? Have you checked the dip stick and the oil level now. Or since the oil and filter service? If the oil and filter you or whoever fitted is correct and the oil is at the right level checked cold, then correct when the oil is up to temperature then there might be a fault with the sensor. ? What engine does your Fabia have?
  16. BMW do good service plans that cover schedules, Skoda have no idea what the schedules, guidelines, recommendations are and cars with Full Service Histories that are Fleet cars might have very little done. Private owners might be told loads needs doing. Important stuff, like DSG, VAQ, Haldex oil changes, filter changes all a mystery to them. Best find a good independent that does what needs doing when it should be done, and done properly, not just ticks in boxes.
  17. What age of car are you looking for and what sort of miles a year will you do? DSG oil changes might be at 40,000 miles or 80,000 depending on what it is you get. Pollen filters and air filters are better changed by where you live, drive and when needed, not by some Skoda Schedule. They are easy to replace. Brake fluid is each 2 years after the first 3 years, Now Skoda appear to be saying first at 2 years for some models.
  18. @t13nyrIs it a manual or DSG TDI you have? No idea why anyone would suggest ECO mode being good for an engine.
  19. Are you going for tyres that are some of the new EV All Season / All Weather tyres.
  20. I am trying to find out why dpd electric vans are allowed to charge for 90 minutes of more in Edinburgh City on chargers the Council have made the rules / tariffs where the general public are limited to 30 minutes. I understand that MITE who have Council Contracts had to use Electric Vans and might have exemptions, not sure if this is why dpd have.
  21. @J.R.Just that, general interest having mentioned the oil the other week in the Mk3 Fabia section. Or i thought you did.
  22. Maybe nothing if no need to. If no issues, then no issue. ? How long have you had the car? @varooomwill likely know the scores on the doors.
  23. Welcome. That will very much depend on what this needs doing in Croatia. For your police, insurers or anyone. Best find out what is required, who needs to see the damaged vin, allows a restamp if that is what is required. Photo evidence.
  24. I was not talking Stop / Start when driving. More, Stopping the engine when parked up, you driving or a driver. As in, are you sitting idling keeping warm and keeping the car warm? 500-700 miles a week and hours of the engine running more than that mileage type thing. The DPF does not like that.
  25. @Mr Grumpcan i ask, have you got the car now, and why are you changing the wheels? Is it for putting All Weather / All Season tyres on?
