  1. Simple. Because some are in the EU so under that Average Emissions, and many of those have the Euro as the currency, some do not. Then the UK is neither in the EU for Fleet Emissions or in the Euro zone.
  2. People can forget about comparing a 1.4 or a 1.5 TSI with the cost of doing a 1.5TSI ACT. Even with a 1.0TSI by some main dealers or others. So the issue is also not only more work, but them not knowing how much extra to charge. Pick a price, any price. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507544-cam-belt-for-15-tsi-in-east-kent Plenty have a shock coming if going by Skoda / VW Guidance, recommendations or even their published schedule.
  3. EV,s big battery packs, PHEV, small battery packs, mild hybrids ity bity battery packs. But there are shortages of minerals, materials and batteries as well as chips. There was Covid in 2021, but Russia invaded the Ukraine only on the 24th February 2022. So only 11 months ago.
  4. @wyx087 In the real world there are a lot of greedy barstewards and politicians that allow them to be because they are as well. http://bbc.co.uk/news/business-64332617 Maybe time that MP's travel expenses are worked out a 7 pence for each 4 miles travelled and no more to be paid other than they can get assistance to lease a Renault Zoe.
  5. The usual tosh were people / salespeople seem to think that those unfortunates who have no driveway somehow have a parking space available on a street at their property or even get to park near where they would like to park. Last week people were on the media that are trying to get out of Economy 7 tariffs and and Economy 10. The energy companies will not let them. Ed Balls ex MP was this morning on GMB sharing memories of a system called Economy 7 when he was young and his mum getting up during the night to put the washing on. The good old days!
  6. Welcome to the forum. You will get numbers, you can not get a percentage. Even Skoda / VW would not know how many failures there under warranty, probably not even know how many vehicles they have produced with them. That is because ever taken to task / court they can claim just a few, small numbers, nothing to do with design, manufacturing or materials. Not just Superb's from that generation have issues with Panoramic Roofs. even near new recent models. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/476259-skoda-superb-panoramic-sunroof-a-cautionary-tale Then plenty models with sun roofs over the decades with leaks. How many owners / keepers service the roofs?
  7. Maybe when there is some degree of Levelling up then around the UK there might be a more equal share of spending around the British Isles on charging. Lots of people with a Smart Meter and home chargers that normally charge between 5-6 pm might not today to save some money, or maybe not bother. Maybe in the cold south this tea time there might be those that consider the National Grid and not Rapid Charge at private or commercial chargers. Seeing as the electricity comes from where ever and apparently the wind is not producing enough electricity.
  8. Guest_ replied to LesG's topic in Skoda Karoq
@LesG So Skoda Specialist Car, Myrekirk road, part of the John Clark Group. Did you not already ask them? All the best with things.
  9. Welcome. ? What country are you in? A mod might move your thread to the Kodaiq section rather than the 'Guide' section. Skoda or VW sometimes advise not to use additives. VW Group sell additives. Dealership staff offer to use additives. Warranty T&Cs, just about 'use of poor quality or incorrect fuels or additives' You decide if they are the 'correct additives' they might try saying not if there is a warranty claim.
  10. It will be interesting to find out even in the least power mode and most regen just how far they can go, Also just how hard the suspension is on bad road surfaces. Certainly no Cloak of Invisibility coming with the early models. I would be happy enough with one in Tech Grey and 17" rims. Only issue is i do not fit in them...
  11. For sure there were.
  12. Skoda do not manufacture belts. They might not even have built the engines. The thing is if you want to go by what they suggest then do that. But be sure who is suggesting what and when and where. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/458348-timing-belt/page/3 Scaremongers. http://www.munichwest.com/2020/01/10/solve-your-volkswagens-timing-belt-problems-in-decatur http://volksmasterltd.co.uk/what-you-must-know-about-cambelt-replacement
  13. The oil is often better than the Oil Filter, if the oil filter works. Crazy in my opinion to change oil but not a filter. Just £6-£8 oil filter changed, 1.4 TSI keeper. Simply Clever. http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules.html
  14. @adburns The way to check the oil is as per the owners manual but ignore if it says WARM as it is HOT or At Normal Operating Temperature. (Skoda put 'Warm' yet VW, Audi SEAT for the same engine put Hot or at normal operating temp. only the 1.2 44kw engine is a cold check.) So check the oil cold with engine not started. That is to know if there is oil. then you will always know when cold because you know how that compares to HOT. The level is checked when the engine oil is at normal operating temp, so around 90*oC indicated, over 80*oC is fine, not after it has cooled down. Just a few minutes after parked on the flat. (A few is a few, not 10 minutes, 15 minutes etc.)
  15. If they could not managed to reset a Service Indicator last year you need to be sure they were using Long Life Oil if you want to be on a Long Life Service Regime. I would suggest if doing around 10,000 miles a year with a TSI you get oil and filter changed annually.
  16. Again i will repeat. Those with a 1.5 TSI might be getting a surprise when getting quotes, it can be pick a price any price. When you get a quote ask the person if they want to phone a friend or ask the audience. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507544-cam-belt-for-15-tsi-in-east-kent
  17. Most likely. & most common. Not reset last May. Left running on Variable / Flexible from the service the time before and now wanting an oil change.
  18. What Engine? So did you check after the service what they set it to. It was set or not set properly last May. Fixed @ 9,400 miles / 372 days or Variable 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles. ? Is this the 1.4 TSI /2013 you asked about the correct oil for in the past? What does last Mays invoice show and do you know if they used 5w 30 FS III so Long Life oil, for variable or fixed services, VW 504 00 / 507 00. or 5w 40 FS for fixed oil and filter services, VW 502 00.
  19. It is not rocket science. Someone in Germany or any VW office do not know who drives the cars where. MK2 Fabia came out with VW engines and fixed service codes, the VW,s with the same engines were variable codes. A year later Skoda changed to variable. Brake fluid changes were at 2 years then each 2 years, then changed to 3 then each 2 years. Now Skoda are showing first at 2 years again. Haldex was at 4 years 40,000 miles, then 3 years / 30,000 miles. Even that can be too long. VAQ was at 3 years / 30,000 miles, now Skoda dealership staff are saying @ 2 years / 20,000 miles. Things change, global climate, stop / start usage etc. So once VW group decide that engines in an Audi, VW, Skoda or Seat are needing the same Servicing let me know. Or a dealership master tech might do that. Ps. Read the tech stuff. Inspection of belts and when recommended.
  20. See you in the Octavia Mk 4 section then. Where adults with knowledge and experience can help. I will butt out. Electricity is all magic to me.
  21. Ok. So DSG oil change at 80,000 miles or sooner, and Haldex at 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. Oil and filter at 2 years, 18,000 + 20,000 miles. I suggest sooner on all these. Then maybe brake fluid first at 3 years unless Skoda have changed these cars back to first at 2 years. No need to visit Main Dealers unless any issue. Enjoy your new car.
  22. So after decades VW source belts that last for ever. Vorsprung Durch Technik. No more timing chain issues as all that far back as Euro 5. So all they need now are life time tensioners and bearings. If everything was as reliable as a VW what a mess the world would be in. PS So once cars / engines get to 8 years old we will get to know how 8 year old cam belts are doing. We will remember that VW group discontinued these reliable engines and replaced with 1.0 TSI, euro 6 and with GPF. We are waiting to see how these are after 5 years. People are now getting timing belts changed on these and 1.5 TSI,s.
