  1. Location location location. As in do you live or drive near a sand and gravel quarry, farms with crops of wheat, 🌻 etc. By the sea, or worst in a city with dirty buses and taxis reeking out diesel emissions. That clogs an air filter. Maybe it gets damp. As with pollen filters. With Haldex do you cross fords, launch boats into lakes/ lochs, or into sea water. It is just basic common sense stuff really.
  2. If you look at my chart or the blue chart that is 2021 prices. And online booking at some official dealers can be cheaper than phone them or call in and speak to idiots without a clue. Ps. In 2023 it seems to be that they keep saying at 2 years for stuff. Not as sometimes was. At 3 years then each 2. Some of them will not last 2 months in their job let alone be there in 2 years. PPS. This government seem to want first MOT,s at 4 years, as they have gone on about for 10 years. VW new warranty claims and poor servicing is as bad as ever it has been in 50 years.
  3. Is it a 7 speed DQ381 dsg, then that is @ 80,000 miles or sooner. Air filter when dirty, check it. The pollen filter is at 2 years or sooner, but that is 20,000 miles if the car does 10,000 miles a year. The Haldex is at 3 years / 30,000 miles. Or sooner. @ no point has Skoda revised that to @ 20,000 miles. Just a bit of a guide. The DSG is not done by years.
  4. Oil & Filter with the DQ250. & those with 1.4 tsi PHEV's might have the question coming on their DQ400-e & no Filter. Well a filter but it will not be getting done. Now on Mk4 vRS with a VAQ (Front Diff) they are getting told @ 2 years if getting told. It was @ 3 years / 30,000 miles. There will be plenty out there FMDSH and not done. Skoda / VW / SEAT / Audi Approved used cars, not serviced to recommendations, guidelines, schedules or to any actual regime by Dealership Staff often with little of a clue or bothering to learn. That way customers can be treated as Mushrooms. Kept in the dark and feed Sh!te.
  5. Really skinny and probably the lowest profile on any Skoda's sold were 205/40 R17,s. MK2 Fabia Monte Carlo /vRS. I have a selection of pics of wrecked tyres. Mainly Dunlop Sport Maxx. But also Continentals. The Pirelli Zero Nero are like solid rubber and very strong. Pity total rubbish traction though. The Sister cars from VW, SEAT & Audi got 215/40 R 17 fitted OE. When Skoda Dealers could not resolve the Pulling to the left that was very common Skoda UK eventually approved replacing all 4 tyres with the Pirelli with the stronger sidewalls which disguised the issue. That meant i could get plenty Dunlops for free and not worry about damage during summer on great 'Driving Roads', but ironworks spring / autumn were an issue. My rather heavy EV is on 205/45 R 17's XL's which is probably why the drop links need replaced at
  6. 1.4 TSI PHEV,s are Fixed Service Oil and filter changes. Some VW info showed @ 8,000 miles, some @ 9,400 miles as with Skoda, & some are just the usual 10,000 miles. Keep it simply. Not that green really running your car for a year using electric to get 25 miles, but the engine oil is being changed, the sparkplugs @ 4 years etc. It is all about the money, as the song goes. If you have a keeper from new. Service as required, Use, Location etc. Weather / Climate / World Region. ** HAVE THAT MAIN DEALER CONFIRM A BODY INSPECTION IS DONE WHEN THEY ARE CHARGING A PREMIUM FOR SERVICES, Skoda / VW keep saying no record of these when people have a Corrosion Warranty claim', They advertise as part of a Service and when there is a Service Record they know which Dealerships do not do them and record, even which Employee signed off their servicing.**
  7. No chart was published for 2022. The website had the similar time / miles but price on application. As to cam belt / cambelt & waterpump. The prices on application for a 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 or a 1.5, then diesels or 2 litre TSI's is all getting mixed up with the simplest / cheapest, least labour jobs having crazy prices quoted at UK main dealerships. eg. Service books with MK2 Fabia from 2010 had 'Alarm Siren' @ 5 years / 50,000 miles for replacement. Volvo had at 12 years, and lots actually started going off as the battery dies at 12 years.
  8. ^^^^Genius.suggestion. Fit a roll cage and strengthening. Simply Clever, they design in a 'Crumple Zone' but you want to modify that. Those idiots at VW Group fitted Spare Wheels as standard in a Mk 2 Fabia vRS Estate or Hatch but made them an Option in the Polo GTI or Ibiza Cupra and put the battery in the boot of the Polo GTI.
  9. I recommend you do not change the water pump at the same time. Change the water pump if it requires changing if it fails. If you have others doing the work for you then maybe you do want the work / labour all at the same time, as long as it is not some ridiculous rip off price.
  10. That green chart of generalisations was from 2020. The DSG is not @ 4 years, and only at 40,000 miles if not a DQ200 with no oil change or a DQ381 with recommended / schedule of 80,000 miles. The blue one is 2021. We are now on 2023 and prices are On application. The Cam Belt Quotations can be all over the place. TDI with belt, tensioners & Water pump. 1.4 TSI, cheaper, just belt and bits, 1.0 TSI similar, 1.5 TSI longer labour time and some ridiculous quotes from £750- £900+ Service Desk staff need asked the question with the answer illustrated below the blue chart.
  11. Plug into OBD port. Reset for the interval to the next Oil & filter change on Fixed or Variable Servicing. & hopefully the person does not confuse things by leaving 'Inspection' showing in different days or km/miles.
  12. ^^^ Did any get put in the Spare Tyre well of Fabia that were brought into and sold in the UK though? The spare tyre well can take a 215/40 R 70 oe 205/45 R 17 tyre on a 7" rim and the boot floor still sits flat.

Officially it is like pick a number any number for the km for doing an inspection of the belt, according to which country and dust, environment etc. The UK is about as near to no extremes of temperatures as you get. Plenty independents know that there might be no reason to change the belt, even not change the tensioners which is pretty much as important as the belt if not even more so. The thing is if it goes badly wrong they do not do the repair for free. @MadrunnerAre you servicing the Haldex every 3 years or sooner?

  15. You will surely be fitting tyres that keep the circumference / total diameter the same be the wheels 16" or 18". For sure the comfort will change and the risk from potholes. Remember to let your insurance know that you made your car more desirable to thieves, or maybe not as they know about bad roads.

  18. Welcome. Plenty threads on here were a professional or A N Other has serviced the Haldex and wrongly drained the diff. Or wrong oils. Yeti Section most commonly.
  19. You were supposed to check at Normal Operating temp. It is the Hot level you want, not the error VW / Skoda make when some manuals say WARM. This is how techs and fitters and others get the actual oil quantity wrong. Park on the flat and check after 'a few minutes' they have never said, 4 minutes or 5 minutes but 10 minutes is not a few in any language. PS. When you know the Stone Cold engine not started level. Then the at the normal operating temperature level, you can then dip the oil before going places with a cold engine and know it is the correct quantity of oil.
  20. @TowelieYou sound just like you could work in a VW Group Dealership or Customer Services. 'They all do that'. The thing is it does not happen with 'All LED headlights'. The ones that it does not happen with must be faulty according to you.
  21. Octavia iV's PHEV's use the DQ400e DSG. !.0 or 1.5 TSI Mild Hybrids use the DQ200e If you do not have the batteries you do not need the DSG's for those electrified vehicles.
  22. It is not complicated. The 15" Steel wheel as Skoda UK Fabia came with have been called a Space Saver. Those are supplied for cars with OE 15, 16 or 17" wheels. I have never seen a SKINNY Space Saver for a Fabia. Maybe others have. I have seen the for Octavias & Superbs.
  23. Really good for those that might not notice it is pretty cold, and even if it is 4*oC or a bit above there might be black ice on the roads, as it is air temp being given as a warning not the ground / grass / road temp.
  24. Sorry, i am confused, was the source of the oil leak found? It being overfilled with oil is the first issue. If it was, was it checked at Normal Operating Temperature so once at an Indicated 90*oC and stopped on the flat after a few minutes? Do you not get a warranty / consumer protection in Poland buying a car from a car trader, like 28 or 90 days?
  25. No total Rubbish. You do not have a Space Saver. What you have as a spare is what some Fabia come with as a standard size on the car, or are the size suited to using if you need snow chains on the car. You have a Full Size spare a different size from the cars tyres. A spare to save space. Put the spare at no more than 40 psi and if you need when on the car let it down a few psi. ? Do you have the TPMS on your car. When you put the spare on it needed then reset it. PS. Skoda / VW,s first language is not English. So remember much is lost in translation and just them calling things what they are not. Love this one. Mr 'start a fight in an empty house' is happy that anyone does what ever they fancy and nae bother to him.
