  1. If you really care, The dealerships got paid to carry out the Safety Critical DVLA official job on behalf of Skoda / VW UK. They were the agent. Do not expect a Service Desk Person or Service Manager to tell you much unless their boss, dealer principal is getting ready to earn more for the Dealership / Dealership group with a 'RECALL', and letting Registered owners know to 'Come on down'. Ask Skoda / VW UK when they are replacing your paid for part. Ask in writing. Remember it is this crowd that deal with stuff, but tell them if they do not know to get onto the Skoda / VW CEO, or one of their minions from the Senior Team'.
  2. Welcome, To see if there is petrol in the oil from bore wash or an injection issue, use the dip stick, take it away from the car and with a match / lighter held near to the oil on the dipstick see if you get a flame. Simple test, but a normal one to get an idea if gasoline in the oil.
  3. As to HPI,s, never expect a factory repair pre or post being in transit mode to be on record as having a repair. If in doubt of a car from a dealership or any place else and paint then get it measured. The Skoda dealerships can do that if a Skoda Approved car. Then ask them to confirm if the paint / repair is to the specification / factory approved repair standard. This is for the Corrosion Warranty. Since at Services many dealers are not carrying out body inspection and reports and then Skoda UK come away with no record of the required body inspections. Not that the Warranty says these are required.
  4. @springdove Did your car get a service / oil change this time? They will have reset the Service Indicator or tried too, so will have been toggling. ...................... A small point. the ground temp or the air temp is the temperature, measured by a thermometer. Wind Chill is, 'feels like'. That is to living flesh.
  5. It will keep going fine with the Engine Oil sold in a ASDA Container or a TESCO, 5w 30 FS III to VW 504 00 / 507 00. Even if not on any VW Approved list. Proper oil from a proper oil producer. There will be those that say not the correct SAP. Not low. not Mid. They use the oil in the Price Wars to stuff up the competition and some hours, or days it is 'much cheapness' in some stores. The car will run fine on the Derv / Diesel sold at super market filling stations. Millions of vehicles in the UK use the stuff, the stuff that comes out of the same depots as special standard diesel with additive packages that are for special people with special needs.
  6. Welcome to the forum. There are threads with new Karoq's where you see primer between the front door and the wings when you open the door. That is how they roll in the factory. Do not waste paint... EDIT. This is a bit crap though. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/451758-paint-missing-from-inside-hinge-part-of-wing
  7. @springdove If it is the same car then you never had a DSG then or now. It is a tiptronic gearbox. It does change gear automatically. If the dash never used to show the outside temperature or give an ice (4*oC) warning then change the settings so that you can not see the temperatures. ? What work was getting done this time?
  8. VW Group used defeat devices in Euro 5 TDI's and were caught in late 2015. They came up with new Software / Engine Management to keep governments happy and did a Voluntary Recall and some cars had this carried out. Millions of them. You could google. VW the emissions fix. Maybe yours had, maybe not. It would be after 2017 that it got done if it was. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
  9. @springdove You really need to say exactly what your car is, engine, age etc. So do you think this is the Oil temperature? Not Fuel numbers, instant, and because you pressed a button on a stalk and changed something on the dash menu. ? Is it this same car? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/496447-service-interval
  10. Exactly, so it now just needs fixed. Once you know what has actually given up the ghost.
  11. I keep getting eMails for an electric motor bike that costs less than my best e-Bike. I almost ordered one just for messing about in town but decided i have too much stuff i never use. http://maeving.com
  12. It is 97 ron minimum. and that can very well be MINIMUM, just like Tesco Momentum 99 is 99 ron Minimum. It can feel like 100/ 100 + stuff from Continental Europe, because sometimes that is what it is.
  13. @ColinD What is your driving licence situation. Is it going to be a Provisional and you going for Rider Training?
  14. For @Lady Elanore Not all about the cars, you need fueled up.
  15. Helicopter Tape is fine. Be it from 3M or any on amazon, Ebay or anyplace else. Not the real stuff for Helicopters, but much the same, Used on mountain bike frames etc. When removing you just need to heat with a hair drier, or low heat heat gun.
  16. @skodaskod1 Do they think mice have been at the wiring? Maybe they need an Area Warranty Manager to arrange a Skoda Engineer to inspect the 5 year old car and see if this is a unique fault.
  17. Not a 5. Hate the silver bits, not that i will have one of these ever & i will never have a black car again, a Toyota iQ was enough to care for and a Volvo S60 was just terrible to. Probably just me, i could have been a short hand or short arm typist... but the stuff you need to touch with a right hand drive car when right handed is too far away when comfy driving seat down and back. Shaky fingers on my left hand trying to touch a touch screen. Eyes off the road far too long. Get the screen the driver needs curved towards the driver. ? Do the designers all have their seat right forward because they have little legs like Ernie Wise? Leaning forward to the screen or buttons when parked is one thing, stopped at lights another but when driving just not on as far as i am concerned.
  18. Fingers crossed that 5,000 km ago there was not enough oil put in and over the period since the low quantity as meant the oil was working hard and got to the stage of giving a warning. If the 2 litres added means it is now the correct amount in then all that you need do is see how that goes this week. If it has been running low oil for the past 5,000 km i would be replacing the oil and filter soon even though 2 litres has just been added. MAKE SURE IT IS NOT OVERFILLED. PARKED ON THE FLAT CHECK THE COLD OIL'S LEVEL.
  19. Welcome. What are the Dealership doing about the ECU that was not required if it was not required? Where are you in the UK? Surely you would not have that Dealership involved in the repair. ? Did they take in excess of £300 for the diagnosis? Refund due there i suspect.
  20. OK. Your DSG has not had the Synthetic oil since it got '34F7' done.
  21. Can the SIL not get from TPS ? The main dealer gets the parts they used delivered. https://tps.trade Or just your local Motor Factor. use them or lose them. http://www.dingbro.com http://allianceautomotive.co.uk/our-network
  22. The Hill Hold Assist does its thing when holding the car and you go between the brake pedal and accelerator and holds for a few seconds. This is if there is not the e-Brake and Auto hold enabled. Have the brakes been serviced ever, and had a brake fluid change?
  23. No idea sorry as electricity is a mystery to me, all magic. But someone will be along hopefully that knows their stuff, and hopefully can help on battery charging when driving. As to Stop / Start, that can be a separate issue, as in, Someone did a good job of disabling Stop / Start. People have been posting for years asking how to and and getting the answer on how to or what little bit to buy so that it is off and stays off.
  24. Ones have been sold here before for very little money. You will see the old ads in the for sale adverts. They can be repaired for under £2,000. Maybe quite a bit less. But if you have nobody to do that you are stuck. If you punt the car for something silly like £500 & then spend that and £2,000 on another car, what are you getting for £2,500, Other than probably another money pit. I bet those Auto Specialist would be rubbing their hands if they can get your car at a snip. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507706-sold-fabia-vrs-with-knackered-dsg-gearbox http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/116-cars-for-sale
  25. Alec Shelbrooke MP is on BBC 2 Politics Live just now. I think he will be challenged later on Twitter on statements he came away with. There is no Recycling of Electric Car Batteries. According to Him. The 2nd hand price of Electric Cars is collapsing, According to him. http://bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001h9dq/politics-live-18012023 11 minutes. He is not an Electric Car fan it would appear, and he sensibly IMO thinks a discussion is required, and hydrogen needs looked at. Good stuff, hopefully someone will fact check his statements, and maybe even look again at who his & others donors are. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/oct/11/mps-and-the-oil-industry-who-gave-what-to-whom
