@springdove If it is the same car then you never had a DSG then or now. It is a tiptronic gearbox. It does change gear automatically. If the dash never used to show the outside temperature or give an ice (4*oC) warning then change the settings so that you can not see the temperatures. ? What work was getting done this time?

The Hill Hold Assist does its thing when holding the car and you go between the brake pedal and accelerator and holds for a few seconds. This is if there is not the e-Brake and Auto hold enabled. Have the brakes been serviced ever, and had a brake fluid change?
