  1. The car does not have Tyre Pressure Sensors does it? The ABS system provides you with the TPMS. How much did that cost you? Was it an ABS wheel sensor they replaced? See the post by @treeishtoday. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509589-multiple-system-and-electrical-issues-now-some-dd-mechanical-ones
  2. Sounds fine. It has 2 pedals and changes gear automatically but it is an Automated Manual, a DQ200 7 speed Twin Dry Clutch, so not creeping is OK. It kind of matters if the bloke services or works on DQ200 DSGs, or others DSG,s and Automatic cars. If he does then fair enough. He will not service the DQ200's though as they do not need doing. ? What is the hire car?
  3. Professional are not going to tell you. Amateur / opportunists do it easily and messily.
  4. Fluids, coolants, lubricants of all sorts can get as fancy and high tech as they need to be but that costs. Sometimes keeping consumables cheap makes sense and change them with regularity. The issue is where you need to pay the labour and taxes for others to do things. But that labour when doing other stuff at the same time can be lots cheaper than failures and parts replacements. This are going to be getting expensive because they can and people will have to pay. As well to enjoy the present and much cheapness. http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/business-environment-and-energy/why-shells-oils-and-fluids-are-still-vital-electric-car
  5. Wheel Dealers in the USA with Ant doing the work was on the telly as a repeat this week. It was a good watch, including the doughnut & the upgrade , Drive Shaft Clamping Bearing Support Mount;, non Porsche part he fitted. I forget the name he called it. I was looking to see where the show might be on catch up.
  6. & the brake fluid is getting changed at 2 years old with some / many EV's. They need to be doing something to make money. Even with cars where the brakes are seldom used because the car uses the motor to reduce speed much of the times. rear wheel drive with drum brakes make sense. My rear discs changed at 24 months since first registered but 3 years since the car was built on my Electric Corsa are just a rusty mess again 3 months later. The Dealerships are not just charging anything like £60 to flush & change the brake fluid. http://insideevs.com/news/332016/nissan-leaf-brake-fluid-tester-might-save-you-a-costly-brake-fluid-change-video
  7. Can we assume that when someone pays for 'All In' or a Full Skoda / VW Group service plan for a Mk3 or 4 Fabia that UK Main Dealerships will first change the brake fluid @ 2 years old and then each 2 years. Also a Fabia that is a Skoda Approved Used cars with a Full Service History will have had Brake Fluid Changes in that history or if not that will be done before the car is handed over. Lost my pig flying picture. EDIT. Rest easy.
  8. What Porsche / VW Group advise might be different from a Porsche Executive / Technician will do with their own keeper. Bought and paid for by them. Additional expense having someone do it, or materials if you do. Cheap compared to failure. recovery etc. If you have a keeper then location location location and how you use the car. Do you cross fords, wade puddles, farm tracks or snowy area, longer winters. Use a Part time or full time AWD for what many buy them for. ............. As much use as a Chocolate Fireguard when on the wrong tyres. Buy near all the gear and no idea.
  9. With a DQ200 DSG some / most will actually change up if you put it in manual 1 and floor it. With Fabia Twinchargers it was the way to get the quickest sprint time using the manual handbrake and not the foot on the brake pedal. Boot it until it self shifted into 4th then manual shifts. Maybe try with Courtesy / Hire cars or somebody else's car if you want to try it. Often female sales staff or hand over staff are the ones that know, or bother to find out. Sadly all Sales Staff are not genned up on driving a Skoda even though their perk is one. They are not that bothered about checking tyre pressures, oil, coolant etc. They expect a warning light or some pleb checks things.
  10. @freddyukjust being nosy but what was the history of servicing in 18 months. 1 company Registered keeper in 18 months. Was it on a Fixed service regime with the first company and one oil & filter change, or was there more to it than that?
  11. Good. Your can not part of the Safety Recall then, if it was the letter should have been with you a long time ago. It is a SAFETY RECALL. Sometimes it is a Lease Company or Fleet Management that gets the letters and not the actual keeper / driver / person who's life is at risk. I WOULD MESSAGE SKODA UK WITH YOUR VIN & REG NUMBER JUST TO BE SURE. Incompetence is rather common. Sometimes 'Recalls' do not show because seemingly they were carried out, or so they think.
  12. Skoda / VW Group need to get this sorted out. 12 v Batteries. Stop messing owners about with their Fundamental Design, Manufacturing or Component failings. Incompetence and a could not care less attitude to paying customers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/495746-octavia-iv-estate-flat-12v-battery/page/5
  13. There are Recalls, Recall Actions. TPI,s and various things. Sometimes pinned on this forum at top of the section. Octavia Mk4 or Superb Mk3 for iV's / PHEV's. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503156-phev-owners-drivers-be-aware-a-recall-might-be-coming-your-way-for-the-car http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503334-octavia-iv-phev-recall ************** RECALL. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504768-iv-93o5-recall-high-voltage-battery-insulating-mat There is the issue with a Recall Action, or Service Campaign, unless you got a letter as the Registered Keeper RECALLING the car. Muppets at Dealerships calling about RECALLS with no knowledge of what they are is not 'Simply Clever', just someone who is simple. So a Skoda Secret Service Campaign where your car was at a Dealership and you found out. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions. RECALLS. Actually were a Registered Keeper gets notified, or should.
  14. Not 40,000 miles or @ 4 years. 40,000 miles is far too many miles before servicing the haldex. Unless 4 years happens to be the 2nd time it is being done, like when due as it is 20,000-30,000 miles since last done. Volvo were @ 2 years / 20,000 miles. The Service Schedule, Guidelines, Recommendations was changed to 30,000 miles / 3 years a decade ago by VW, and eventually by Skoda, but they never made that clear to owners or Dealership Service Desk staff. & they still think the filters are some fictional part. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/442337-haldex-problem-scout http://eco-torque.co.uk/post/haldex-control-faults-fixes-for-your-haldex-unit-eco-torque-ltd ......... A member's picture from the thread above in Briskoda.
  15. Mk2 Fabia vRS with the Success Ballast weights so that it is 5kg heavier than a 9 3/4" longer vRS Estate according to Skoda and heavier and slower than the Polo / Ibiza sister cars according to VW Group who cheat. They went to the expense of designing, manufacturing and fitting while every other manufacturers tried to lighten cars. But i am OT with my rant, so the flaps are below the lights and the cause of many a back end being soggy http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/379331-water-in-spare-wheel-well
  16. Tesco Momentum 99 (99 min) E5 is more expensive than Tesco 95 ron E10 by maybe £3 a tank, as is Sainsbury Super 97 (min) over Unleaded 95. Both might be the same or less if the E10 / 95 ron you buy is not from a Super Market.
  17. Yes it should drop a gear moving the shifter into S when off the accelerator, so slowing down, or just rolling along in D and going back to S. Perfect for winter driving as no touching the brakes. It is how i drive any DSG, 6 or 7 speed wet clutch or 7 speed dry. It is how i boot the car sometimes, instead of a double kickdown, back to S then down a gear then kick down. Only if someone is up my jacksy. Maybe just ignore her about Autohold. As too manual 1st and changing up. Forcing the box to. DQ200's did this. & i used that for Sprinting, Hill Climbing, 1/4 Mile. Car held on hand brake not brake pedal, into manual and floor it and force shifts til 4th, then a knock across to D or do manual upshifts. This was faster than me changing, or being in S. Maybe no longer applicable, but it has been with wet and dry clutch over the years to save the DSG. Some do lock though and scream.
  18. Not hydrogen, just petrol to help a small battery go further. http://autoexpress.co.uk/mazda/mx-30/107991/mazda-mx-30-r-ev-revealed-novel-rotary-range-extender
  19. @NanoNeoi read your post in the other thread that you got this resolved. It does makes all the difference when there are mechanics around that know what they are doing.
  20. 'Catch phrase' say what you see.
  21. Loads of threads in this section on the subject. Rear lights, rear flaps stick, and the rear hatch seal.
