  1. @LegacyIs there some reason the tech / fitter doing the service never changed the pollen filter when they should have or did you ask them not to. (There is a crazy price charged in the UK.) What oil temperature issue? EDIT. OK. i see. So what are Skoda supposed to be helping them with. Is there some highly skilled tech around going to tell them which parts to try replacing? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508747-fluctuation-oil-temperature-20-tdi
  2. OK,so just a rebuild. The issues with the 1.8 & 2.0 TSI are well documented at the top of the Octavia Mk2 section and what is required with rebuilds so good if done and all is well. Be aware of the possible issues with any others you are looking at.
  3. The crunching DSG will be nothing to do with the suspension then, and neither will the Haldex or anything else. They have replaced a DSG with a fault with a like for like equally faulty one. They will just spend money then and eventually maybe get somewhere. Just like Robert the Bruce's spider.
  4. Good, they have to get it fixed properly then. Is it a 5 year manufacturers warranty in Australia? ? Is nothing being said about your Non Factory Suspension or is it Factory Approved when fitted by a Skoda Dealership?
  5. Welcome. Does the car with the replaced engine have supporting paperwork for you and the DVLA if required. (even the Police / Insurance Loss Adjuster to show the engine was from a legit source and not a stolen car.) I am assuming it was a used engine and not a New Base Engine or Factory refurbished with supporting paperwork. So a receipt / invoice showing where the used engine came from, with the engine number, and is the engine replacement number on the V5C? So the DVLA were notified.
  6. Welcome. If people who can see and touch the car can not find what the issue is it is just guesses that anyone else can make. ? Are you changing the steering rack yourself without really knowing if that is the problem? ? What engine / gearbox does your 2008 Fabia have?
  7. Welcome. There are kits, but you will make your car illegal removing the DPF.
  8. @Donweather Was that the Dealer Principal a technician or some random person that called? The Dealership will able to show you the invoice and paperwork on the New Complete DSG that was delivered and fitted and the Area Warranty Manager will be able to arrange for the Master Tech that is going to have to come and examine the install. They need to find out what has gone wrong with thousands of a spend and a new DSG. ? What age is your car and how many km has it done? It would be handy if you showed at the side you are in Australia & the spec of the car more then a Superb Mk3. (I have no idea what Super Sportlines are in Australia engine wise.)
  9. It will come time with the early ones that were rejected, never addressed and in the trade and still kangerooing. Barge poles come to mind. Be sure to get a good long road test starting from cold, Do not let the sales person warm it up.
  10. @aitaWho is the Warranty provider? Is it like a RAC Approved Car with a RAC 6 month Warranty from a RAC Approved Dealer that did a 92 point inspection?
  11. There are issues there long term with 1.5 TSI's. & we have not been long term yet know how they go. There was the early Kangerooing. That should be sorted, not all are. They are more complex with ACT, but fingers crossed. They have a GPF, time will tell. The Cam Belt and tensioner replacement at 5 years is more expensive than with a 1.4 TSI. So hopefully newer is better, but that is not always the case. Tried and tested can be better on the wallet.
  12. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508628-tdi-20-scr-190-smell-of-exhaust-fumes The car was due a new Pollen / Cabin filter at the 2nd service. Was it replaced, did you pay for one? First find out if there is fumes getting in the car. Fault codes are not always required and all Dealership techs are not Deaf Dumb and Blind with no sense of smell or care for customers health, so look in past the dealership and discus your concerns.
  13. DQ200 DSG's 2013-2015 might with some require Service Campaign 34H5 which was started in 2017. Obviously not all DQ200's from 2009-2022/23 have issues, only a small percentage. Even if 2% you just do not want landed with a bad one. The premature failure is greater than 2% though, greater than 5% up to maybe 2018. Worse with 1.4 TSI Twin Chargers which you do not get in an Octavia. Not great odds with a 1.6 TDI sadly.
  14. @mkerIt used to be a @40,000 mile / 4 year thing, but first VW went to 3 years / 30,000 and eventually Skoda got there. It is important and even before 3 years / 30,000 mile intervals. You will find guides here on doing it. There are different generations of Haldex. (Volvo even have it at 2 years / 20,000 miles back in 2011) ? Did you not have it done on the Audi? This is on the newer generation Haldex, but gives you an idea. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/483229-how-to-change-the-oil-in-the-haldex-5th-generation Gen 4. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/450696-haldex-gen-4-oil-filter-change
  15. @aitaWelcome. So how many miles has this car done. Is there a service history, and what is it a history of actual stuff done? When was it last serviced, spark plugs and air filter changed as an example? When was the timing belt changed if it has been?
  16. There is an issue with Skoda / VW warranties, well from the company VW owns that sells them. Known faults, and there are known faults. Who knows them are VW Group because they keep trying to fix them. Well Audi and VW ones first and then they produce Skoda ^ Seat still with faults and flog those.
  17. @Smart Pro Which reputable company would you recommend to buy a Tuning Box from?
  18. No 1.4 Twinchargers other than in Mk2 Fabia vRS.
  19. Welcome. How old are you going, pre 2016 or newer? ? Do you do trips / cold starts that means a diesel is needed? Not that it will be more economic really. No issues really with a 1.4 TSI and with a DQ200 DSG. (Carbon build up is not an issue.) Possible issues with a 1.6 TDI with a DQ200 DSG. (the DPF for one.)
  20. ? Do you already have very good springs, dampers and tyres fitted and still feel the handling needs improving?
  21. You best buy an extended warranty from Skoda / VW, or start a campaign online / on social media to have VW Group / Skoda UK giving an extended warranty free gratis on something they have had several years now to get to grip with snagging faults but they have failed badly with.
  22. Welcome. Has the Haldex had recent servicing or are you going to do that?
  23. @joaomac7Is it not enough to add a proper sump guard, heavy duty suspension and robust tyres and spares and leave off any additional plastic stuff.
  24. Sorry no idea. ? When did they stop building Mk3 Fabia 1.4 TDI hatches? Was it not just Estate / Combi's 2015-2018?
