Lane Keep Assist - how do you use yours?
VW Group are just not quite there as much as some other manufacturers are that have very good tech. That comes from VW taking stuff inhouse and ballsing things up big style. They just punt out the cars even when 'Safety tech' and just new tech is dodgy so that they get the sales and the customers / owners have to mess about and wait for them to get it sorted. Sadly they have had a few years and first Audo then VW might get the fixes and Skoda & SEAT owners can wait, because they do as they have no Court or Government Agency taking actions against the VW Group.

"Coasting" in other modes than ECO?
My 2016 SEAT 2.0 TDI SCR DSG (DQ250) had no Eco mode and you just ticked the box to enable 'Coasting function' and that was it enabled and it was available in D or S if you were toe off the accelerator and no power was needed. D 6, D5. D4 or whatever just went to D. There are all sorts across the VW Brands, vehicles, years, 1.0. 1.2, 14, 15, 1.8 TSI's, 1.4,1.6 TDI's with DSG's. then the bigger engines and different DSG's and engine managements. My picture from the post in the thread that was linked a few posts up.

"Coasting" in other modes than ECO?
@cncvery different engines and DSG's and generations even when Euro 6. Your wifes is pre WLTP, pre GPF, & a DQ200. Your MY2023 TDI can be different from an older 2.0 TDI or TSI. Engineered to get the lowest C02 g/km during the test regime.

"Coasting" in other modes than ECO?
What matters is that Coasting Function with DSG's works differently with the various TDI's 1.6 or 2.0, then TSI,s 1.4 or 1.5 ACT. then 2.0 Then there are 6 or 7 speed wet clutch DSG's or 7 speed Dry with a TSI with or without ACT.

Windscreen crack, no obvious damage (chip): Is this common?
? Do you have 'Glass cover' with your car insurance? If so then who is it that they want you to use for the windscreen replacement?

Anyone selling 2013/2014 Fabia VRS CTHE
@Andy Cope You will stuggle to find a more knowledgeable owner or a better maintained twincharger. http://www.fabiavrs.com Better you look for an enthusiast maintained car and do not go with Full Main Dealer servicing history, or a history of being at main dealers and maybe not much done.

Phone holder
They can decline to test a car. Or change the order they do and start with a test of the wipers and washers. As to windscreen mounts, they are like air fresheners or furry dice, legal to sell but an issue at a MOT or with Police Officers maybe hanging from the rear view mirror and obstructing the drivers view.

Norway's EV new car sales / first registrations. & other stuff on the move to EV's including with public transport.. Videos.
'EV,s make up to 80% of new car sales in Norway'. It is being reported. https://www.zawya.com/en/wealth/sustainability/evs-make-up-80-of-new-car-sales-in-norway-a2i7l772 It makes sense to encourage the Car manufacturers to stop producing heavier and heavier and bigger EV,s that many need to just get about in comfortably. It makes sense to do that by not throwing money towards those paying for prestige vehicles when it is more efficient vehicles using less materials & resources that are needed. It does not work when those that can afford what ever they want just buy whatever and taxing them or not assisting with grants makes no difference.

Basic advice please
Welcome. Looking through the Yeti section is a good start, and look a bit closer at 1.8 TSI,s and possible issues. There are bound to be good ones, but are those that have them selling those. eg Some negative stuff on 1.8TSI's. Not overblown on the internet / forums though. You need to do research. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509351-should-i-buy-a-yeti-with-issues

what's the correct service interval skoda superb 2019 40K miles
So a DQ381 7 speed wet clutch and Skoda / VW are still saying at 80,000 miles. That might change eventually if cars start having issues earlier and the owner has a 4 or 5 year warranty, or a Approved Used Car with a Warranty valid. VW are always paying attention to stuff like that. NOT! PS Do you really need a TDI for the miles and journey lengths you do, and do you know about the car using AdBlue?

Octavia Petrol Engines
There were some issues with early 1.5 TSI ACT. Mostly sorted. They are not chain they are timing belt. Changes at 5 years according to Skoda / VW UK. More expensive than doing a cam belt change with a 1.4 TSI. The 1.0TSI is only under powered if you want a car full of adults and stuff or to tow up hill and down dale. Best try driving them.

what's the correct service interval skoda superb 2019 40K miles
Welcome. Are they going to do that service now then 900 miles early, since they are going to prep the car and inspect and put a Warranty on it? Not all DSG's need serviced at 40,000 miles, some are at 80,000 miles, and some not anytime. So is the TDI a 1.6 or a 2.0 TDI? (To know what DSG it has.) You get Fixed Servicing, 9,400 miles / 372 days. or Variable / Flexible 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles, your might well be on Variable since it never showed as due in October. .............. Fixed Servicing shown below. But not actually accurate. Just General info. Variable is a bit of this and a bit of that. Your 40,000 miles servicing is really likely to be a Pollen Filter for a 2nd time, Oil & Filter change, look see, report etc. Depends what there is a record of in the past and what you are prepared to pay to have done.

Mk2 Octavia 2011 vrs steel wheels fitment
Sit the wheels / tyres side by side. No real difference in circumference, / total diameter. No issues with the speedo. It over reads now and will when you fit the new ones. http://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator

Planning for a newer Octavia
The issues certainly were on 2009-2012 DQ200 DSG's, that was why there was a World Wide recall in 2012/13, and a Service Campaign in Europe. 2014. Then another Service Campaign for some 2013-2015 started in 2017. Recalls in Australia, and again and again a 3rd one. Then 2015 on the Slipping Clutch issues and TPI's, to about 2018 ones. Then the issue along with the 1.5TSI's and Kangerooing and also software updates for some DQ200's. So we get to the past 5 years and the DQ200's seem a lot more reliable up to 5 years. A few are playing up, have MCU leaks or the likes. That is how it goes, newer stuff should be more reliable. Also stuff that has been getting produced for well over a decade should be sorted out so that buyers can trust buying ones out of warranty. Vorsprung Durch Technik. VW's answer is introduce mild hybrids and keep the DSG's with issues going a few more years as they have nothing else available to use without it being wet clutch DSG's. What a pity they are not right on snagging faults with the MCU's with some of those.

three cylinder engine overheating causing valve failure
@hetty1I do not think there will be an issue with your spark plugs, or 1 of them. Do not go removing ignition coils and spark plugs monthly or anything like that. If you keep the V5C in the house the VIN is on that if you want to check. The Skoda VIN checker is unreliable, and there are Service Campaign / Recall Actions that do not appear. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions If there was or is a TPI regarding your car a main dealer should or might pick up on it. If there is a Recall as in a proper RECALL the Registered Keepers should be informed. ........................... Those that have a car with the Recall on the rear seat issue should have received a letter.

EV Charging - Does an EV charger know the identity of the vehicle that is being charged?
The UK Government did not have legislation in place for EV chargers and the properties already built by June and occupied now in England from a bright idea from before the Tories went into meltdown.

Re map
Worry less about the DQ200 DSG, even though issues and an invalid warranty are expensive. The 1.5 TSI ACT is more of a concern without a Warranty if things go wrong IMO Someone that has had theirs done might be along. They have been available long enough now and VW took long enough getting their engine management acceptable / driveable, someone might have improved what they have. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/474324-15-tsi-remap http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501975-15tsi-dsg-remapping-risks @skodamotahas posted links on this thread. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/489448-sportline-15-tsi-engine-tunermap http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/471197-15-tsi-remap

EV Charging - Does an EV charger know the identity of the vehicle that is being charged?
Was the intention that they would all have 'Chargers'? Was and is it not that the cabling so that chargers could be installed when and if required. Bumbling Boris & Failing Chris Grayling and the likes have lots of cunning ideas and not the common sense they were born with. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44759150 F-in weeks. As happens regularly in areas with very few chargers. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-44561039
