2019 2.0 TDI Octavia engine rattle when cold
It is colder now than June, but maybe it is not just that. Someone with better hearing than me will be along. Is there an invoice showing the oil used? Was it to VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV So who was the car bought from and who serviced it & what have full services included? Oil & Filter, look see, maybe the pollen filter and maybe the brake fluid changed.

Which Fabia to buy and why?
The cars with 17" rims had 'Low profile' tyres, and anyone with 18" even lower profile. Others can comment on 16's but really they are not Low Profile or make the car crashy.

Heated front windscreen
The OP,s question is about a heated windscreen, they surely know starting the engine will do the job and the heated screen is not even required.

Rear differential - covered by warranty?
@adamarchie The Haldex Service Schedule is @ 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner. That is to be done correctly, not just an oil change. ? So does it get cleaned out? Rear driveshaft coupling. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501865-drive-shaft-diff-coupling/page/2

EV real world range and cost to charge
FFS. 18 & 1/2 hours plugged into the 43 kW AC chsrger, which there are actually users of quite often for Rapid AC charging. No time limit @ 23 pence per kWh. EDIT,. 22 hours 38 minutes and still sitting locked 🔐 in.

Heated front windscreen
Air conditioning is not working below 2*oC. Ahhh tropic weather moving in tomorrow. The freezing south had a taste of what winters are. 300 postcode areas trigger £25 payments because of 7 days average Zero or below or forecast. Tell someone in Aboyne about warmer in than out and the AC.

Parked car priority
F in hell. So I am coming down a narrow road, snow, icy. White Tesla X parked away from kerb on my side, I flash the car coming towards to proceed but he is going Infront of the Tesla so flashes me to go. As I pass the Tesla the drivers door opens right in my way. So I look at the driver. No driver or passenger though. The ignorant old coot is on the pavement with the remote that opened the door wide open. Few number and letter personal plate on car. I will be keeping an eye out for the idiot.

Where is it you get your warmer air from when the ambient temps are below freezing and you have no pre heater?

Noise on front nearside
Is it a Karoq you have now or is it the Octavia? A mod can move it from the Karoq Guide section. Which ever car, how many miles, what engine / gearbox, any more info like when serviced and inspected or MOT'd or just looked at? Maybe go to a tyre and exhaust centre if there is no local garage that can put it on a ramp for you to look see & report.

Heated front windscreen
VW group will eventually get there.

Heated screen performance?
Vorsprung Durch Technik. No way!

First long trip in my Kamiq
See the threads this week in a couple of Briskoda sections of those not impressed with the heated screens they got. A real shame when even a Fiesta many years ago could have one Ford Quick Clear Screen. (i seem to remember they had the patent on them, that might be wrong like stuff on RS being theirs.)

Winter roads, ice, snow and wet or dry driving in an EV..
Lovely with the snow frozen this morning and the Tesco car park including charger bays have been ploughed. More than can be said for the council public chargers around here. Plough or just gritting / salted would be nice at the chargers if empty as they do the road or pavements beside them. When cars are parked for many hours charging it can keep under the car clear but then over time the Snow off them can build up where you need to walk and plug in. Ok for those fit and able. Snow tyres make all the difference just for getting at chargers.

First long trip in my Kamiq
@Expatman Have you or she tried a MG for size. Choice of drivetrains and with the EV no need for a heated screen as you just turn on the interior heat and almost immediately the interior heats and the glass / screen is deiced. Heated from screens are not standard because every euro counts with manufacturers and people have to pay extra for stuff as that is how they make money. If it is standard it is still the buyer paying though.

Guess the Hire Car.... Mac's 2019 game
@mac11irlIs it a 1l or 1.5 petrol auto? It will not be a 'slushbox' if a dual clutch box just like a DSG, which can behave badly between 1st and 2nd which has people selecting 'S' to mean it holds the rpm higher and maybe stay in 1st when crawling or in 2nd without going up to 3rd. I have never ever had a Torque Converter Automatic that hunted between gears. What is usually referred to as a slushbox.

First long trip in my Kamiq
The Sill from the ground and then seat at lowest or highest makes a difference and the seat height to floor can make a difference to it being easy or not for in or out. Dirty clothes on a sill outer and then a wide sill can be the issue on what at first feels to be ok when a car is sitting in a showroom or dealers lot. Then there is the difference of a passenger getting in or out from a kerb or just from the ground. Sliding your bum right onto the seat obviously depends on your actual leg length or how far your bum is from the bottom of your shoes.

Which Fabia to buy and why?
Introduced by the VW group 2015 for Euro 6 emissions but then needed the GPF 2018 for the WLTP / RDE being introduced. 4 years now with GPF's.

Rear differential - covered by warranty?
Welcome. What Warranty have you got. One as a Used Car or something? @ what miles was the rear diff oil changed at and by who and why was that done, just because of the noise? Was it done wrongly? Others have got used ones. There are threads in the Yeti Section. Usually needed after someone serviced the diff wrong when the Haldex was serviced. Maybe @J.R.could comment, or there are other that might be along. There are places which are not HAWCO you could no not that far with proper mechanics, maybe in Nairn. http://bitzgarage.co.uk Proper Skoda servicing, repair and maintenance, probably best in Scotland, but a few miles away, worth it though. http://victoriagarage-maud.co.uk http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/498884-yeti-rear-differential-seized

- Domestic charging points - A new social dividing line?
M&S and BP Pulse. BP Pulse needs to up their game, i hope M&S bosses know just how hopeless BP Pulse are, chargers and customer services. M&S customers are a target audience but they expect a good service. http://eva.scot/stories/articles/ms-and-bp-pulse-to-install-900-charge-points-in-next-two-years It would be good if BP Pulse can keep chargers already installed more reliable. Maybe get BP Pulse employees into EV's but then the chargers they attend are often out of order. http://eva.scot/stories/article/mfg-ev-power-network-joins-the-paua-platform- Turbo Charger replacement on Skoda Octavia Estate 69 plate
@June85 What engine does your car have, how many miles has it done, & what has the servicing been, annually / fixed or variable, by miles / days? So how much has this cost you from the car needing to go to the dealership for the diagnosis? You have 2 years part and labour warranty now on the turbo, or should have. Has the turbo been kept as an exchange unit and helping to reduce your bill? IF YOU PAID FOR THE NEW TURBO EVEN GIVEN THERE WAS A 10% DISCOUNT THEN COLLECT YOUR FAULTY / CORRODED TURBO. Best have it examined by an expert. ............................... We have to deal with whoever, and after sales comes down to make sure to reject any claim and take no responsibility anymore. We do not care about losing customers, we can sell more cars than we can produce anyway.- Winter roads, ice, snow and wet or dry driving in an EV..
This would have been my EV of choice if snowbound in drifts but unless the roof is body coloured it would have to be an Enyaq vRS Coupe in Orange or Lime. I need a rear wiper, and if there is one it has not to get frozen to the rear screen. the heated rear screen has to heat under the wiper blade. That is just a basic car engineering requirement.- Replacing discs with brake pads
Pictures please of discs and pads. Just for a laugh. Then time to get the Dealership publicity globally for their concern over customers safety and the upselling profits for the dealership owners. - Domestic charging points - A new social dividing line?
