  1. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/484031-10-tsi-engine-recall Recall. So check. Or is it a Recall Action. Where people that own cars are the last to be told. Check with a main dealer or Skoda, do not trust the VIN checker. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
  2. ? What is your engine, is it a 1.0 TSI or a MPI.? I am really surprised to hear these engines are prone to this. It is the first one reported on here. Nit seen any talked about on any other forums either. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486469-spark-plugs ............................... The 1.4 TDI Euro 6 is another matter, the pinned thread on that is at the top of this section.
  3. Often you can not see the broken spring right up at the top. Drivers side most often. But then if only it was changed last time it can be the passenger side this time.
  4. @AK-S6 When you get in the car and out of the car do you have the Red Light on and the e-Brake engaged, and then when starting and driving off the e-brake releasing but the or Autohold button lit with Yellow? When you stop with the engine running or stop / start stopping the car do you ever use the e-Brake?
  5. @AK-S6 what is it that they are waiting on word from the factory? Who are you dealing with a sales person, service manager of workshop manager. They are taking the Michael.
  6. @Karock So they are they pre-used Michelin Alpin so older. How old? I have Alpin 6 on the rear of my Corsa that are 2 years old with 32,000 miles on them. No cracking. I did bulge the fronts on potholes and tear them a few weeks back and scrapped them. No cracking though. Great tyres.
  7. Many buy a car and never look under the covers to know what are fitted to hold the wheels on and only check or search for a the socket when going for a service or to get tyres fitted.
  8. Millions have world wide. Many just need transport and in the UK they can only legally go about half the speed they are capable of. The thing is the bigger capacity TSI's are not that much less fuel efficient for what they are, family cars / warm hatches / taxis etc. Little engines are the 1.0 TSI's and plenty with these in an Octavia get on well with them and achieve good economy and keep up with modern traffic. Even with a car with 245 ps when just travelling along.
  9. They are only 150 ps. Not over stressed. 1.5 TSI's ACT/COD and with GPF's are liable to be the ones to avoid in the years to come. It was the Twincharger 1.4 TSI from 160-180 ps that had fundamental design and manufacturing fault and still do, but when the OE engine management and maybe a few consumables are changed they can be good at 220 + ps.
  10. I have not yet seen a Kamiq used as a taxi / private hire car yet. Who are Kamiq drivers tooting the horn at HGV,s? Maybe go stand outside your car and have someone press the horn, is it loud enough to alert pedestrians and cyclists? What more do you need,?
  11. Is there a question when you buy insurance if there are locking wheel bolts as standard or an option, in the way they ask about a tracker, alarm etc. ? Will the insurance loss adjuster question the wheel thief if there were security bolts fitted?
  12. So they should when you are last car in a line and stopped. But as by the UK highway code if stopped for longer with traffic behind do not have the brake lights on. Apply the parking brake. It is the same as not sitting with your foot on the brake pedal. Autohold the brakes are applied, front and rear, parking / e-brake the rear brakes. PS, same as rear fog lights, if fog lights are required then last cars in the gridlock traffic should have on. Every car down the lanes at a standstill might have them on, even when the cars in front tail lights or brake lights and high level brake light is very visible. But drivers sometimes disengage their brain rather than functions.
  13. The Citigo iV is what it is & has a usable battery capacity of over 30 kWh and a 61 kW (82 hp) motor. Adding an ICE and fuel tank makes no sense, there are BMW i3 Range Extenders to buy used if someone wants that and room in the car. Max legal speed in the UK with NSL's are 70 mph.
  14. @Carlston What is it you drive and on what size wheels / tyres?
  15. Really, some people just fit or remove spacers as a matter of course when working on their own cars. So do as you do, and others will do as they do and have for a long time. Not everyone uses garages, and garages only take off wheels when servicing if you pay them. I have used spacers for many years on offroaders when using different wheel / tyre combinations. Even approved ones at MSA regulation and scrutineered events. Skoda actually fit Spacers to vehicles they take to events as show models and these are driven. I am quite sure they could get wheels with the correct offset, but just go with 'the look'.
  16. @Carlston you certainly know all the scores on the doors and i believe you might well take a tape measure to tyres, and that you buy premium tyres for small diameter and narrow wheels. You never tell us what you drive though, or where you drive. My nose bothers me about if you actually work on vehicles or sell parts. Having the same rims and different tyres of the same size but for different uses is a good time to get out the tape measure.
  17. @Carlston That is good. What a pity everyone has not you at their side when they find out about dissimilar metals. I have never struggled to remove wheel spacers. You just learn things in life as you go along.
  18. @Carlstonyou must well know that you can have tyres with the same sizes on the tyre walls from different manufacturers, say Pirelli Zero Nero v Dunlop Sport Maxx and put them on rims and measure the circumference with a tape measure and you get a different figure. There are 205/40 R 17's from some that actually are the same circumference as 215/40 R 17's from others. Real world, not just imagination.
  19. Alloy wheels tend to corrode up against the hubs. Hence we put a bit of grease between them and do not leave them on for 3 years or more from them being fitted at a factory and even with Full Main Dealer Servicing they might never be off for even more than 3 years. Servicing pre or post winter or both is Simply Clever and make sure with cars that if you get a puncture you can change a wheel, which means being able to get it off the car.
  20. It is a Mk2 Greenline II with a 1.2 TDI is it not? So it shows as 'VW 504 00 / 507 00' required.
  21. Your car is lasting well and going well is it not. Who are you paying all the money to for not much getting done with an Oil & Inspection Service, and maybe the Extended Scope?
  22. I get a kick out of the con that is Scottish Whisky. Water and a few cheap ingredients and kept in a bond for a minimum of 3 years then lots of tax and duty added and still sold at a very large profit. I get delight from the fact that the H20 that comes out my taps is just the same as what is bottled for Strathmore Springs.
  23. Go back to the first pages in this section. Skoda were spinning a roomier, wider, wider track, lighter, more efficient All New 3rd generation model with connectivity. Well some were lighter than ones that had been heavier when it was Mk2 Fabias. Mk 3's had a tornado line. some had a wider track. They handled better than the cars previously. & that was without a whole new platform. Not even new Type Approval. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/332414-road-test-reviews-on-the-all-new-3rd-generation-fabia-due-in-2015
  24. It can get cold enough that -10 is not going to keep it liquid if you happened to venture a bit from tropical Danderhall. But likely you will not want to spray it anyway at -9*oC. Maybe just in error.
