  1. @5 mins 38. Skoda / VW Uk really get away with it and Motoring Journals / Journalists are just letting them carry on as they do. Some will mention it, but really it needs to be asked of the Brand Directors just WTF do they think they are doing messing paying customers about. Dealership Group Owners & Directors of Skoda Dealerships are part of the 3 monkeys behaviour and Customers / Owners need to be communicating with them, maybe via a Solicitor.
  2. ? What is an Extreme setting actually do that you can choose for the mirrors?
  3. You are dealing with all sorts of people, many who car not jot.
  4. The Winter tyres are the key to how good it was on ice then. ? What have you got on?
  5. ? Is this the Mileometer & a digital one reading 1,000 miles less than when last noted / written down? Set on total miles and not Trip A or B ? ? What is 'ex-stream' as a setting with mirrors. EDIT. Maybe something to do with 'button's, pressing them, knowing what they don and when. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508274-mpg-and-computer
  6. @jifster There is a pretty big difference between a 2-3 year old Fabia that come only with a 3 cylinder 1.0 engine and a Polo GTI that has a 2.0 litre. No wonder you are after the VW & not the Skoda.
  7. A Briskoda member, journalist, reviewer that tells it as it is. When there are faults he reports them and when he likes them that must be because they are good. 'Maybe subscribe to his channel'.
  8. @JonopWhat tyres did your car come fitted with? ECO / Range extending, fuel saving, low rolling resistance / low grip / low traction?
  9. You do get 'Ready Mix' that is to -23 *oC, even to Minus 70*oC which comes branded VW / Audi. The thing about ready mix is that it might not get bacteria building up. But, whatever you use you have to take care, not all are compatible with each other and some end up with a jelly type mess that block the pipes.
  10. It does not have to be Ready Mix, if it is the to - 5 is no use if colder, or -10 if colder. You get concentrate that you mix with H20 that will be good at -15 or lower. You just have to mix to the correct ratio. Same as you do with Anti Freeze. If you want to use the Screen wash straight you can. As it is it might well not come out the nozzles when low enough below freezing or just freeze on the screen. Might still be liquid in the washer bottle though.
  11. Once the tyre pressures are checked and adjusted or even not adjusted remember and reset the TPMS.
  12. Go back to a very clean screen inside, it is glass it can be cleaned, only use something that does not get affected by the cold, service the AC, change the pollen filter, clean / disinfect the system. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509231-cleaning-the0inside-of-the-windscreen-what-to-use
  13. Welcome. How many miles on the car and has the DSG been serviced with oil & filter changes every 40,000 miles, & when was that last done? You might need to go to an Automatic Gearbox specialist to get a diagnosis.
  14. @ApertureS I was not being serious about the noise. 189 miles between MOT's and the leak is dealt with.
  15. @automassI never even gave the fuel a thought it was more about the comfort of the fare paying passengers, then the cost to you of the 18" wheels then tyres.
  16. Totally possible, but if the car is used as a taxi do you really what to go that way with wheels and tyres? http://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator
  17. RIP. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-64026087 https://news.stv.tv/north/a93-in-aberdeenshire-closed-and-emergency-services-at-scene-after-two-cars-plunge-into-river
  18. @Calais62The car will nagging you well before the AdBlue needs more in. It will be one of there employees that overfilled if that was the issue, which very likely it was not. ? Do you have a 12 month warranty with the car, & what range is the Adblue showing as having now?
  19. Advisory on my diesel at this years MOT. Sounds quite good for a 3.2 DI-D.
  20. I look forward to the opinions and knowledge from others here who work on them. like @ApertureS Anything can be worth a try when desperate, what is the worst that can happen! My feels are,,,
  21. @promomast I know nothing about diesels even though i have one. Pre DPF. Plenty here do know their stuff. ? What was the reason for drilling the hole, did they think that was resolve s blocked DPF or something?
  22. @promomast YET 1 Owned by @BossFox i think. I seem to remember an issue with a Dealerships Yeti sitting with a Show plate or out on the road with YETI.
  23. It is 0w 20 FS IV so to VW508 00 /509 00 that the car left the factory with. That is the recommended oil by VW / Skoda for fixed or variable servicing. So you could go to VW 504 00 / 507 00 as was used pre 2018 / WLTP & GPFs. 5w 30 FS III or even 0w 30 FS III. Up to you. You might be told at Dealerships or online you are not using the Recommended Oil. They never mention that that is for Variable Servicing and they do not show for fixed that it can still be VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS. (do not mix specs.) Except in an emergency.
  24. There might well be Diesel Waxing happening where the temperature is getting to -15*oC and vehicles are sitting with diesel in them from pre November in and around the UK. There are plenty of those on dealers / traders lots, and various places that cars / vans sit not getting used much or refueled.
  25. @brummiered If that was a Skoda Dealership you phoned then at Participating Dealerships in the Fixed Price Servicing & Maintenance the first 30 minutes of a diagnostic is £60. For a reason best known to Service Desk staff that never seems to get mentioned to callers. Maybe because they know their tech will be more the 30 minutes with reading fault codes and checking things. ? Is your car a 1.6 FSI so petrol or a diesel? EDIT. Best plan seeing if a Briskoda member can help with the diagnosis.. If it is not simply fixed and within your ability then you want a good independent mechanic or garage anyway and not a main dealership. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/509262-vcds
