  1. That is how hybrids are, perfect for those that they suit, horses for courses, or those with BIK and are getting the financial benefit but not using less fuel. There are EV drivers going to hybrids because charging is a PITA on longer trips but for short journeys they charge at home or work or free someplace, but for longer trips they are not spending an hour extra charging for every 150-200 miles. Yesterday in an EV i did 350 miles then 150 today. Set off fully charged, 4 charging seasons and sitting with 120 range now. That was 3 hours spent charging & that was lucky as straight onto chargers. (Cost me nothing as all free Rapid / 50 kW charging in Scotland, and free 7 kW before i set off.)
  2. Try living 50 yards from a junction where the 30 speed limit goes to 40 mph as it leaves the town and goes a mile to the village with a 20 mph limit but those with 'interesting sounding vehicles, or heaps of crap blowing black soot open them up before the 40 limit and to the first corner. You will hear all sorts at all the hours of the days. Wacky races is usually starting about now where i am sitting typing this. Night time / quiet time the most interesting ones going for it can be heard for ages and they are miles away. Some are just as we know it, like a wet fart. @Aspmanknows the location very well and ti would think the scenario and the vehicles i am talking about.
  3. It would be useful to know what it would cost for the fuel to drive something like 150 or maybe 200 miles, maybe 300 miles. This with the Petrol Used, the Diesel used and the petrol used in a hybrid starting off fully charged but then not charged again until the trip is done. A hybrid charged and doing 25 miles of a trip might use no petrol. A diesel might be less efficient than a petrol doing just 25 miles, weather / temperature dependant.
  4. @JesmondJester Welcome. A mod can move this from the Guide section. So no need to repost. ? How cold do you want the cars interior soon after tuning on if the outside temp is hot or the interior is? Modern cars are sadly now set up to pass the WLTP / RDE2 and passenger comfort was not part of Skoda's 'Simply Clever' features or engineering. The temperature that needs measured is in the cabin once you request, 'Lo' or 14 *oC or 16*oC or what ever. Do not measure it at the vents, but they at the Dealership need to get their act together and see what temps the AC / Climate can achieve. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504209-my-aircon-not-very-cold
  5. The car d!ck in the Blue VW Sirocco on the M77 today should let someone drive it and follow his own car and hear how crap it sounds, and understand that making it loud in a tunnel and at every opportunity is just looking like a pleb when you actually floor it and it makes the noise and does not actually move off that quick.
  6. Many Porsche lovely's at a Golf event this morning and lots of the road on their way there. The BMW appealed most to me.
  7. @Lamont1980 there are 6 speed wet clutch DSG,s the. 7 speed wet clutch DSG,s so you maybe want to compare those with similar engines. The 7 speed introduced as emissions should be lower, this should mean lower fuel consumption but may not. Comparing a 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG which will only be in a Skoda with 180 ps, 250 Nm or less and FWD is apples, pears and lemons really. Factor in over £200 or more ever 40,000 miles with a 7 speed wet clutch of 6 speed. Only at 80,000 with a DQ381.
  8. Try trips you do regularly with ACC and without and compare the displayed fuel average. I have never driven a car with CC or now with ACC that did not use more fuel. That is because it maintains speed and is not lifting off as you might into corners, as you crest a slope and then go down hill. There are cars and especially EV,s that the GPS does reduce power to match the road and that does work. Works on newer VW group mode look as, plug ins etc.
  9. @domhnallcheers Sitting at the airport. Old charger still charging without using a card which is nice. My range down quite a bit in this heat. The Corsa is happiest when temp under 20*oC. Car showing 3,000 over a service and Vauxhall and AC,s do not know what service. 4 outstanding software updates currently and AC and Eurocar can not supply an Auto car I am told. So I will keep on rolling along.
  10. Do not overpay for a service plan. Not much needed at 2 years, an Oil & Inspection service and pollen filter. Same at 3 years with extended scope but no pollen filter. Henry's seem to have been improved recently. Things change as you see with the Park's review. But then staff move about. Often the least knowledgeable are on the Service Desk, including the Service & Workshop manager. You hope the Master Tech is present in the workshop and trained and trains there stuff. All the luck of the draw. Enjoy the car. Check the tyre pressures, see what they were set at. Adjust and rest the TPMS if needs must. Reset the TPMS even if the pressures are fine, Look at the coolant level when collected. Dip the Oil before you start the car. See where it is cold. When home dip it at Operating Temp, parked on the flat after a few minutes. As per Owners Manual. Then you know the Oil level now.
  11. You do not need to. It is a 7 speed DQ200 DSG with no 'Coasting' function and to get the emission figures they did the car gets up to a higher gear quick enough and stays up there. Just drive gently and the car will do fine, stay off the brakes and look ahead and maintain speed. Watch the rev counter if you must. If you can maintain speed with your toe light on the accelerator then you will be doing fine.
  12. For Scotland that could well be Glenrothes or maybe East Kilbride. Never checked as my head spins when there.
  13. It says it covers everything, no cost to you. Up to the value of the car etc. Not the diagnosis. Love to see a replacement diesel engine done for under £2,000 if an owner was paying, but maybe a repair will be as an average as mentioned.
  14. Fine. No surprise then. Parks Skoda Hamilton do not even know that much about Skoda's. That is years after 'Gordon is a Moron moved on' from walking the floor telling customers guff.. Read the reviews'. Strange one they put the car to the Renault Dealership and it is not a 'Skoda Approved Used Car'. But many things are strange with PARK's. http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/55-skoda-dealers-scotland *I am not a fan boy, they might be less incompetent now,but i doubt it.* Maybe avoid for any servicing.
  15. BRISKODA 'Cars for sale', & post a 'Wanted' advert on BRISKODA.
  16. @sheriffwoody I spotted the RAC Warranty and 6 months when reading the link you posted at the start of the thread. This is why i prattled on about RAC Warranties. Read the T&C's of the RAC Warranty, and exclusions. & max claim. Get the RAC Approved Dealership to send the details. http://wilsons.co.uk/your-guide-to-rac-platinum-warranty http://rac.co.uk/car-care/car-warranty Buying a Skoda Extended Warranty can be a waste of money after the 6 months if the car was not Serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines. eg. DSG not serviced at 40,000 miles or Haldex @ 30,000 / 3 years. Not that this stops a Skoda Approved Used car getting a 1 or 2 yearv warranty when they are selling one.
  17. OK. Spill the beans, i know the Dealership groups. All operate much the same. (a Big disappointment IMO is 'Motorchoice' owned by John Clark Group.) Not the Renault Dealership in Linwood that is an Arnold Clark that seems unable to speak to the Arnold Clark Skoda Dealerships? (Edit, they have gone, i see 3 other AC Renaults in Glasgow now.) ???????????? What Servicing would an Ex Demonstrator with 3,700 needed, unless on a Fixed Service Regime, so an Oil Service & Inspection, so a VHC maybe, maybe no oil and filter change, just an oil top up. This needs to be showing on the Skoda / VW System to keep up a FSH / Full Service History, or a FMDSH, Full Main Dealer Service History. They never bought it without a Service History, they checked it.
  18. @johnmcb ? Where did they get the car from, a trade in or an auction. one that escaped the Skoda Main Dealers! Has the Renault Dealership got a Print Out of the Cars History, PDI / Registration and any Service or Service Campaign Actions? ? Is the car still on a Variable / Flexible service regime as it left the factory, so 24 months / 18,000 - 20,000 miles. or maybe changed at the PDI to a fixed service interval , 9,400 miles / 12 months (372 days maybe).? It kind of matters, as in if a service is due, or done or not needed until 2023.
  19. In Scotland, a Used Electric Vehicle Loan. http://energysavingtrust.org.uk/grants-and-loans/used-electric-vehicle-loan
  20. The post about running on 2 cylinders being like only having 750 cc seems to not be considering that an 150 ps vehicle just running along and the drivers foot light on the pedal might not even require 75 ps to keep it moving at what ever speed quite happily. A 245 ps or a 190 / 150 ps Kodiaq in convoy might all need as little or even less than 75 ps when the engine is not under load.
  21. A chip in the key has nothing to do with the Service History. The VIN / Registration number is what is needed. They just need to have the VW Licensed Equipment as many VW Independent Specialist do. They get TPI's / Service Campaign info, some can do updates and even warranty work. Skoda UK Customer Services can send you the Service Record, Service Campaign or Warranty history. Even if someone on the phone says they can not. Only what is on the system though. Your car, your responsibility to keep safe and serviced. Data Protection is to protect you, not someone that is at a desk someplace on a keyboard.
  22. ACT / Active Cylinder Technology / COD / Cylinder on demand moved on to all 4 cylinders shutting down on vehicles rolling along, coming to a halt, tied in with GPS and the vehicle knowing the terrain etc. So that if to be counted as Zero Cubic Capacity must be magic, or just how the technology evolved. The Bentley Engines were shutting down half their cylinders but then they started off with 12. The Audi 8 Cylinders and a diesel. Maybe it is all for the WLTP / RDE2 but then that is how things roll now. Then there is Mild Hybrid and Plug in Hybrid and the additional boost from the motors. That will eventually reach the Skoda SUV's/ Fat lumps.

  24. It looks to be metallic so if it is it is not Energy Blue.
  25. The Government needed not to give anymore help to manufacturers or dealerships as every EV that anyone can get into the UK is selling. There are none sitting struggling to find buyers. Now the government / treasury / tax payers can get some income in to make up for the loss of VED, and plenty taxes in from the electricity bought and they can get taxes from the companies charging high prices per kWh for their public charging, but then they will not be UK owned businesses as more providers are bought by foreign investors over and above those already owned buy Sovereign Wealth Funds of Oil Producing countries.
