Octavia II 4X4 under floor Boot Space
My suggestion to anyone looking to run WVO / Bio is before converting a vehicle. Spend the money to set up your Waste Oil processing having got a source of used oil, and when you are producing then you have something you can share with others and they can bring you waste oil. Then you are ready to start running your own vehicle on waste oil / bio and you know how how much work is involved in collection and processing and if it is worth the effort for the miles you drive usually and that you do just collecting oil.

Extortionate Skoda Audio Repair Cost - £5786
My son was told by BMW that his system that needed replacing would be £3,800 and was not covered by Warranty or Goodwill as the car had not a FMDSH. It did plus additional servicing. As it was the job was £800 and they did cover the cost as the fault was a common one and the part was available for £450. Skoda are taking the pith as normal. Skoda Customer Services is contracted out, so that is the communications & resolution managers.

Brake squeak at low speeds - Advice welcome.
The only thing to squirt at brakes / discs is Brake Cleaner. But then after doing that you need to use the appropriate grease on pins, back of pads or rubber grease on rubber. You do not want lubricants on the pads or discs obviously.

@StevesTruck You must be aware how many commercial vehicles including those that collect waste are running on Bio produced from waste oil. This is why you do not here of so many private users of WVO that they are processing themselves. There are people obviously still doing it, they are just not shouting about it any more. There are Supermarkets now limiting how much Vegetable Oil a customer can purchase at any onetime. They can not stop people going in multiple times though, but as Sunflower Oil goes short and there is the need for Rape Seed oil to be used more that is going to be in short supply and the prices are rising.

Price for Yeti tdi
@GlenncraigIf pushed the salesperson could have wondered off to talk to his manager again and then managed to throw in a 2 years service package which costs them little but they show as having cost them a few hundred quid in the paper work. It is a game played.

Octavia II 4X4 under floor Boot Space
Not that complicated really, It is usual to be a regular customer, friend or relative when looking for freebies or favours. But all it needs is to hold a conversation with an actual person who buys and sells the oil. ? How are prices going at supermarkets or cash and carry's for vegetable oil as there is a growing shortage globally?

Looking for flywheel replacement service
Someone will that is near to you & in the same country hopefully. My friend has done all sorts for me in the way of auto's for 40 years now. Dealerships send customers cars to him to do and that is the kind of place best to use for DSG's. The ones with all the gear and not just ideas.

Looking for flywheel replacement service
My mate 1 mile away is an Auto Transmission Specialist & could do it no bother. But that might be a long way from where you are so maybe best say where you / the car is.

the truth about electric cars
I posted a comment on that Tesla drivers video i put up. It is so simple the way he is going not to go to Dundee to the Tesla SuperCharger which can be busy when he can cut across from Forfar to Perth and to the SuperCharger which i have yet to see more than 2 Tesla charging at at one time in the past 2 years. Maybe he prefers the slower route of dual carriageways and average speed cameras and going through Dundee & to Perth & the average speed cameras. Tesla SuperChargers.

Brake squeak at low speeds - Advice welcome.
^^^^ As above. Brakes are service items but a Full Main Dealer Service History does not mean the brakes get touched only 'inspected'. So the brake fluid change was due at 3 years, but maybe not done or the brake fluid tested. Time to get the pads out and the little copper slip on the back and at some point also the brake fluid tested for h20 content and maybe replaced.

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
PlugShare shows that Shell in Forfar so Fiskens filling station is getting 2 X 50 /150 kW chargers and that will be 49 pence a kWh. I though that the big new Shell Filling Station with coffee and fastfood outlets out near the A90, & near KFC,McD, Marston and the CPS charging hub would have Shell chargers installed by now. There will be penty choices now from 3.6/7-150kw chargers and from free-50 pence a kWh. 23, 49 & 50 pence a kWh. With InstaVolt. Recharge-Shell, CPS, PodPoint, BP Pulse & @ Kia & Ford Dealerships. (Not all 7 kW charger locations available show here.)

PHEV Owners / Drivers be aware a Recall might be coming your way for the car.
Bump for @Fun4All

Octavia IV PHEV recall
The issue is the person calls it a recall yet if you are the registered keeper there was no recall. So a Skoda VW recall action. A service campaign / recall action. Also known as a Skoda Secret Service Campaign. Do not tell too many as we have so many cars needing sorted for so many issues because of pathetic R&D and quality control. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions

Kamiq review - short and sweet
Fabia vRS (mk1) that were £13,000 or so in 2007 can be worth more now or have higher asking prices than a 2010/11 MK2 vRS that was £15,000. My actual love no matter how flawed. And it is for a very good reason that they are dead cheap. The original vRS Fabia was a very special car. But then Suzuki Jimmy,s which I also bought and sold and drove could also hold their value and be worth what people would pay even when over 10 years old. Then the new versions were selling used for more than you bought the for right from the Dealers. That was pre Covid and crazy asking prices on many used car models.

The Kia EV6 GT - supercar performance - well done Kia/Hyundai
We are back to in a supercar you pull in to a filling station and buy the regular or better fuel and flash the cash and dash and you are away in under 10 minutes. So not a case of hare and tortoise. It is hare versus hare but one needs longer to eat at each stop while doing a trip across Europe.

Kamiq review - short and sweet
Ok. Most people comparing things are comparing on what they cost and quality and value on actual cost. With cars it can be on price and residues. In the past with SEAT there was no point looking at the RRP as only idiots or those leasing get them at Full Price. Skoda models that are not selling well were the same. Get the price down and get them registered or register cars to Dealerships. PS. I am very much a fan of Skoda,s. They can be good value and quality when Skoda get it right and cheap when they mess up as they do quite a lot now. I have my eyes open though and know what cars have what and how much they cost or are worth. I used to buy and sell them for profit.

8,000 miles and needs oil?
@sneal. Read the owners manual maybe. Do not check your oil when warm,. That was Skoda and lost in translation that had WARM. Only 1.2 44kW VW engines are checked cold. All other VW engines for over a decade are checked at Normal Operating Temperature. Or should be and dealerships staff should know that Skoda say 'after a few minutes' that is after stopping. Not 5 - 10 minutes of a cold engine started and idling. They do not say 5 or 10 or any specific time after stopping. But a few is just a few. As is not long. Do it consistent though if you care. Especially if people where checking when refueling a few is only a few minutes. But simply clever Is know where cold is as that is what people checking before a trip will b we checking to see if there is enough oil. ??? Has she got the engine running? 'Simply clever' or not, SKODA!

The Kia EV6 GT - supercar performance - well done Kia/Hyundai
Quite a car. https://ev-database.uk/car/1471/Kia-EV6-GT Someone might take one for a long fast drive at high speed on an appropriate road or even on a track to see just how far it can go with a full battery and people in the car.

Kamiq review - short and sweet
@carefree Pointless really comparing quality / build / materials with other brands then unless we compare what a used 11 month old ex demonstrator from the other manufacturers at the same cost used. Can you not say what the Used Monte Carlo did cost?
-
Kamiq review - short and sweet
@carefree do you really have no idea how much your Kamiq would cost as you have it specced? Just for the sake of comparing against a similar priced Ford, Peugeot or Vauxhall since that was mentioned. I did know how much Fabia vRS cost at launch, in 2004 and when the last ones were produced.

8,000 miles and needs oil?
@zetzetI am surprised that you are surprised that a TDI might use oil. That is why there are lots of people that ask on here and on social media what oil they should buy to top up the engine oil in TSI's and TDI's. Lots post that they think their new or used car has used too much oil even though they had no idea how much oil the vehicle had in when they got it. That is why Engines have not got a sealed oil filler cap so that drivers need not top up between services.
