  2. ^^^That, then, Put the wipers into the maintenance position, use some petroleum jelly / Vasoline / KY Jelly and massage the rubber, then clean off with a tissue.
  3. Parts of the world could not care less about Climate Change or emissions as the EU / UK can do that for them. Nissan, Renault, Suzuki and others will just make cars look good, if they drive like crap it apparently does not matter. No turbo then no wukking furries, you are only using it as a taxi and who cares about safety features.
  4. My mate that was an Autoglym rep swore by the Bug Off 'Active Insect remover' stuff as their best product to use for cleaning anything. But then he maybe had a shed full of it. For getting big dubs / road grime off without messing about this is the proper stuff. I have had years of expensive polishes and waxes and now i just have Careplan stuff in bulk.
  5. @fabdavrav Have you moved from the Moray Firth area of Scotland to Siberia? Fuchs is the VW Groups chosen suppliers in the UK. Nothing special, just as Castrol is not. VW Group / German engines out of warranty have among the highest failure rate. Oddly it is not Japanese, South Korean or even French manufacturers that recommend different manufacturers oils. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/476057-independent-uses-fusch-oils
  6. They say as many as 1,400. https://www.driving.co.uk/news/chip-shortages-continuing-impact-car-production
  7. The UK is about as good as it gets for fuel economy also as good as it gets and for the performance of the engines meeting & exceeding the min of what you paid for according to PS / Nm. Good quality fuel, & never driving more than 3,000 ft above sea level in the UK. Not too hot or cold in the main. So less waste of fuel so energy getting engines / coolant / oil up to temp, or energy to get the oil cooled again. Maybe times of nice cool dry air and roads in winter when there is no need for too much de-icing, heating or cooling in the cabin, or even the heated mirrors or rear or front screen needed.
  8. @mrgf I never look at or touch terminals on new cars with covers and leave jump starting them to others. With my old cars or motorbikes they still get a little clean with a wire brush and smeared with the Vasoline i have on my finger after giving the wiper blades a bit of a moisturising, and the springs a fondle. (The wiper blades then get cleaned off before going back on the screen.)
  9. @sepulchrave Your error might be assuming all are the same everywhere. Not even all Main Dealerships are the same. There are owners and managers & Techs, Fitters, Mechanics around that do give a monkeys rather than just being cheeky money grabbing grease monkeys and do a proper job for fair money charged.
  10. The Manufacturers Warranty covers Non Factory Approved Engine Management / Software & Hardware. There in Exclusions in Europe's VW Group T&C's. If you know you invalidated the warranty yet make a claim on engine or gearbox / drivetrain because of failure then you know what you are doing. They may pay your fixes, or you might have to when caught out, and in Europe people do get caught out. You are as well 'pay yourself if you want to play', no point expecting the manufacturer to (Warranty Underwriter) . (There are engines / turbos that go pop even if standard or mapped, some are lucky and dealership staff can be deaf dumb and blind.) Crash your car or have to have it recovered and a Tuning Box might well still be fitted. A Technician or Examiner or Loss Adjuster might then see it. As it is your insurers want to know the car is remapped or running a tuning box. Warranties are an Insurance Policy, and anyone paying out thousands on a Warranty Claim are allowed to Investigate a ECU. Exclusions in UK Skoda Warranty. ...........................................................
  11. ^^^ Best plan. I usually give wipers arms a rub over with Back to Black or what ever product i am using when in full 'Kerbside Auto's' mode. (I was a professional Industrial then a car sprayer.) As to the wiper springs, they might get a little petroleum jelly touch on them while i am doing the same to the battery terminals. Harks back to what was a common practice when i served my time as a Motor vehicle engineer. PJ was always available for when bending customers over.

I took the dates from those given in the links from those that got the info. If wrong then only by months because the changes were in 2011. I was only looking at Mk2 Fabia, not other models and their build date. If Yeti, Octavia, Roomsters are that much different then sorry. The Oil Capacity change June 2012 is for the CBZA & CBZB 86 & 105 ps
  13. The Regional differences with ESSO and 99 Octane Super Unleaded & ethanol is because Greenergy do not supply the Super Unleaded to ESSO stations for all of the UK. Greenergy has fuel that is brought in as a base fuel with their partners Royal Dutch Shell and there are fuels that arrive 'Filling Station ready' to some depots. The fuels and the butane purchased at the best prices can mean that the UK has winter formula petrol at filling station tanks after it has stopped being available on Continental Europe or North America / Canada. Someplace i have that information from 2012 on how late into 2012 they were bringing winter grade fuel into the UK. The link was posted on here back then. EDIT. Bottom of page. The experts here will know more about the use of Butane in the winter formulations because of the different temps the fuels need to deal with, i have only seen what i have read about it and about the price on the markets and the importation to the UK.

Chains can need replacing even after the upgrade as even 'Fitted for life' wear and can jump a tooth. Then there is the issue with some that have issues after an oil change and the tensioner having gone slack. As to noise, personally i would want to be sure a good oil filter is fitted and with a 1.2 TSI i would not use the VW / Skoda recommended VW 504 00 5w 30 FS III (Long Life Oil) for fixed or variable servicing but would use the VW 502 00 for Fixed Servicing, so 5w 40 FS and change the oil annually or ever 10,000 miles / 9,400 or sooner. The OEM Oil Filter & Oil Capacity changed in from *June 2012* with 1.2 TSI's, same time as the time chains. So ***3.9 litre rather than 3.6 litre as it had been.*** Amazing how long it took some Techs at Main Dealers to know this. Many still do not know as they were not around on just not switched on.
  15. For all the years the issue has come up with the wipers on Mk2 Fabia it is only some, not all and it can be one wiper and not both. No idea about the actual alloy of the wipers that do have the aluminium type corrosion rather than rust. Test them with a magnet. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/369788-rusty-wiper-arms .

Welcome, that is true if your Timing Chain & Tensioner is one after the Upgrade that VW / Skoda did in 2011. 18th June 2011. Pre upgrade are covered by a TPI. Were they checking your car via the VIN? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/466956-12-tsi-timing-chain-upgrade http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-cam-chain-problem/page/8
  17. The files above are safe enough to open. As to Confidential. Not really as i have posted them loads as they were readily available. I wonder why they disappeared off the net?
  18. Until about 8 years ago Tesco PLC had the exact spec and ingredients of Tesco Momentum 99 published and showed what the difference was April to October & then October to March. I no longer have it on my computer and it was lost on the forum when there was a clean up a few years back. I still have the Tesco test results they published where they were comparing Tesco 95 Unleaded against Tesco Momentum 99 and others. Royal Dutch Shell were the only others selling 99 octane then as the others were 97 octane. 'All about the emissions'. 388380a097b04fe693a8c27db8bb4974 (1).pdf 6ca06d648b9541e78fa838fece4a1a23 (1).pdf
  19. They will build them and import them into the UK when ready, but VW will always delay Skoda when it might hit them. Skoda are only allowed the percentage of first registrations that the VW Group want them to have. There really is no reason for the AWD models in the UK for the people that might well want them, but the bigger batteries are important as the charging network is so poor in much of the UK. If Snow Gates are closed then the roads are closed to AWD EV;s just as they are to 4x4's or delivery vans, cars etc. Time will tell just how many are used by business users that will need to tow or go on tracks. Domestic, pleasure and leisure users with caravans will be more common.
  20. I do not think the EU have passed a law that you have to drive one of those there. Re Winter & E10. At present the Winter Formulation Petrol unleaded and Super Unleaded is different from the Summer as ethanol is hygroscopic, so as the E5 and E10 has to have up to 5% & 10% Bio but need not have that as that is a max we will see what we see.
  21. @lol-lol Ford like all the others had to have the Average C02 to save them paying millions in penalties in the EU / UK. They were all too slow getting the Mild Hybrids / Plug ins that cheat the WLTP really or the EV's so 'engines must die'. But Suzuki had already managed to have low emission engines as did PSA and a few others. Suzuki had the new Jimny with ridiculous emissions, especially with the Auto so they have gone the way of a Small Commercial with it, but can still havesome good sellers with just slightly higher emissions because they can get the average low across all vehicles registered. Lots of kidology happening with companies buddying up so that the low emission car manufacturer can help the ones that are not yet there. ie anyone wanting to partner with TESLA.
  22. So your car comes as an early Mk2, 2007-2009, then they did a facelift and different front end. Have you had a good panel beater look at the damage? Did they say they could not put that back right, or was it too expensive and just easier to get parts?
  23. Welcome. What age of Mk2 Fabia. Of pre face lift or post facelift the wings and bonnet of a Hatch or an Estate or the same age will fit. If you have found the match in colour that is good as long as a perfect match. What tangerine, is it the Metallic copper / orange kind of colour? Do you have the paint code? Or know the name Skoda gave at the time that was available? This colour? and 2007-2009 ?
  24. Many that have got used to rear cameras feel short changed when there is not one. Great things that show you why there might be a beeping, because if some child has put their scooter behind your car you need to get out to see why there is a beep. Who is it you think that are needing to be buying batteries for the car they lease of that they might have for 10 years? They come with batteries unless you had a car where you leased the batteries and they were installed and replaced if needed, that is ending now on new cars but there are still people that own the cars but not the batteries. 12 volt batteries are a consumable on an EV just as with a ICE vehicle.
  25. It becomes a pre and post winter exercise if you want them looking nice.
