  1. @mac11irlI have an Orbea electric bike, i am not that impressed by the finish. It rides OK, but it is a so so electric bike. I have a bike sitting doing nothing that might or might not suit you. A Specialized. It is a Plus Size Tyre with Hydraulic disc brakes, dropper seat post, but nothing special in the way of forks. I can provide different pedals or seat to suit what you want if the bike interests you. £800 is probable a fair price. I could take it to Cairn Ryan if that would suit. Or through there i have a Specialized Fat Bike but i doubt that would suit your needs and wants. It would be about £600. I will take some pictures. EDIT can get better ones later. 1x10 Specialised Fuse. I forget the price i got it or the year but it will only have been ridden maybe 5 times. The pictures will be in this section. EDIT. Bottom, Orbea Flat Bar Gain. (Electric.)
  2. The Parking Lights on the roadside front and rear of the vehicle (& one reg plate light.) Is legal in the UK where you are required to have Parking Lights displayed. Side / Position Lights are not 'Parking Lights' for having a car at a roadside stationary where 'Parking Lights' are required. They can function as Parking Lights, and that will be when the ignition is off. Lots of cars can not have 'Sidelights' on if the keys are out and the car locked, but they can and do have 'Parking Lights' which can be on, this is all part of Construction & Use, & meeting EU / UK legislation etc. The RAC so then The Sun and others keep going on about it being illegal to park without having 'Sidelights on'. Then they go on about Low Energy Use etc etc and how they will not flatten a battery. Well just Front & Rear & Reg Plate lights on can have a Fabia Battery flat if on from Lighting Up time / Darkness until dawn / Day Light time.
  3. If you buy a Skoda covered by a Warranty from Skoda / VW Group then you should be able to get any warranty work done in the Franchised network, but, check if a Skoda Approved Used Car with a Skoda Warranty, or a Used car not an 'Approved Used Skoda' with some other Warranty. Check that the Warranty is not with the Dealership Group. Ask the questions and get the answers in Writing from someone, not just from a Salesperson that might leave the company before you ever need to use the Warranty.
  4. There is cooling, and cooling down to the ambient temp just not lower than it. Next time it is bellow 0*oC @KenONeillwill hopefully dangle the thermometer end in the coolant once it is cooled and see if it is any colder than the ambient temp outside the vehicle.
  5. The 1.6 TDI only comes with one DSG and that is a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch. Lots and lots of threads on them so really there will need to be a diagnosis carried out by someone with all the gear and not just ideas but the knowledge. How many miles has the car done?
  6. @KenONeillThe coolant in the radiator will not get colder than the air temp. Your tears might freeze. Choose your antifreeze or have the ratio to suit the coldest temps that the ground or air temp will go down to, you will find the tables showing what is needed. If -25*oC is enough then do not worry about a ratio that is needed for 20*oC or even 25*oC while driving at 70 mph into a head wind. Best have -35*oC though incase the forecast is wrong or you are in a cold trap.
  7. @KenONeillThis winter or even before i would like you to get a thermometer, take the air temp, and fasten the thermometer to the front of your car or bike. Then drive, drive or ride as fast as you dare, and stop and read the temp on the thermometer.
  8. & the coolant is in a container / system and not exposed to air so not going lower than the air temp, which is different from the carb and the washer fluid that is out and about.
  9. @KenONeillYou will have to wait til hell freezes over. That will likely be when it gets cold enough. It will not bring the temperature of the coolant lower than the air temp though. You do changing the freezing point and the boiling point by not just using H20 in the pressurised system. Reference Libraries, encyclopedias or search engines are useful, and if the answer is not to your liking try another one the answer might be different.
  10. 'Motorists can now drive a mile for just 1p for first time in nearly 50 years' Reads the headline. Seemingly EDF's GoElectric35 EV offers the lowest off-peak tariff. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/money/electric-vehicle-fuel-deal-24220667
  11. South Ayrshire Council will be starting charging to charge. I take that is only where chargers are on the Council Run carparks / locations. There are Charge Place Scotland chargers not on Council Land. http://dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/electric-car-chargers-no-longer-24208196
  12. Police / Military Police and others can have vehicles serviced inhouse and Halex done properly. Then again there are vehicles that Police Scotland and others have that are not MOT'd & that is because they do not have to, and sometimes because of incompetence. I would have no qualms buying an Ex Police vehicle & have done in the past. Unmarked ones can be a pleasant surprise engine, brakes and suspension wise.

I am high vizzed up top to tail in yellow & orange and still get near misses all the time. I was just up as far as Dykehead on my bike and then up towards Glen Prosen, (to the Monument stone to Scott / Wilson of the Antarctic) then home is nearly all downhill. I would not cycle in Glen Clova or to Glen Doll at this time of the year. ? Are you on a roadtrip? My ride up to my high point is gradual and has the view up to above the Clova Hotel most of the way and the sun behind me early on and then downhill home into the sun. I am rather red faced from the last few days on the bike, but with a white head from the helmet on.

@Redboyyou were only a few miles away from me yesterday at some point. Did you notice if you used the Glen as it should be which is like a one way system & going in the high road to the hotel you can use less fuel and get more coasting than coming back out to Gella Bridge where you join the top road again? Easily noticeable when cycling it which way is easier on the legs.
  15. Indeed. Refrigeration. But windchill is not lowering the Coolant, Diesel, Petrol etc lower than the Air / Grass-ground temp. But the Ground temp or a few feet above the ground can be cooler than Air Temp at around 2 meter above the ground.
  16. Drawing air through or as was with fans in front of radiators pushing air through and taking the temperature back down of the Summer Coolant / Antifreeze, or Oil with Air Coolers. & Oil is also a coolant. The fans operate at lower road speeds or when stopped as at higher road speeds it is the airflow through the grill that cools the radiators. More surface area of Radiator / more fins the better. In winter maybe block the cooling to the radiator from cold ambient air. Listen to the weather people. Windchill 'feels like.' That is on skin / living flesh and a measure of how the temperature will feel with cold / wind and drawing out heat.

Or even a OPF. VW decided on Gasoline as that is more Global.
  18. Wind Chill does not take the temperature down. Well not the coolant in the cooling system. & not lower than the Air or Ground temp. It can cause quicker cooling down to the air temperature. The same discussion has been had with windscreen wash over the years on Briskoda. http://wheels.ca/news/should-you-factor-in-wind-chill-when-pouring-antifreeze

@whitevx So in easy to understand for non Engine Experts is that a 2.0 TSI with a 7 speed wet clutch DSG? Do those come with a GPF in Australia?
  20. An update received today from BP Pulse.
  21. Cheapish e-Corsa deals around that Vauxhall need to get First Registered. from 5 minutes.
  22. Some of above applied to England and Wales as far as Police Forces and areas. Things like the prosecution and speeds or Awareness courses. There are not Awareness courses in Scotland and different legislation available to Police Scotland.
  23. No idea, but for which country. You would hope that Skoda have as mission to have dealt with all snagging faults and issues and produce the best product they can. That will be 'simply clever' if they can and the very least customers should expect.
  24. Quids in the Service manager is not a trained or qualified VW technician or even a Mechanical Engineer. But as long as the dealership has one that trained and is qualified to work on EV,s what is the worst that can happen? There are trained and qualified Techs in the VW Group network in the UK, or independents that can subby the work.

@whitevx Which engine and gearbox does your Karoq have? People might have something in their signature to the left but on a phone that might not be visible Superb discussion. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/494029-is-15tsi-coasting-on-d-node-while-normal-mode-selected
