Fabia mk2 greenline rear coil spring
@Cheapas Yes in years past, but it was vehicles well past 10 years old overheating while sitting in traffic that could be an issue. My last vehicle it happened to with was a Ford Scorpio V6 in gridlock traffic in the centre of Edinburgh while towing a car transporter. That was a fiasco. My last new car with a blue and red light was a Kia Picanto 1.1 68bhp Auto from 2006 and i never gave a thought about it over heating and i used to take it to compete in 'Autotests'. I had a 4.6 V8 Auto on LPG in a Land Rover 110. When it was going to be going through cities and maybe sitting lots i turned on the fan manually to stay on before any overheating might occur. By the time it was getting too hot it would be too late,,,,

Skoda Fabia discontinued
The full reveal should certainly not be far off and the price reveal. As to delivery times that might be in doubt until Skoda can get out cars people have already ordered since the order books opened on them. This will give Skoda time to ensure the new MK4 Fabia is free of software glitches. They must be keen to get the cars out and registered to aid them on having low average CO2 figures.

All Season Tyres....
Lucy Verasamy said on tonights weather that snow at this time was rare but not unheard of. Well she obviously does not remember how common Lambing Snow is for Scotland & that is usually around early April.

Extreme E from 2021 on Poverty TV.
I think he will have found out just how hard walking on sand, snow/ice etc with 2 artificial legs is even if you are a below knee amputee. As it is though getting in and out the car for driver changes would have been easy from a wheel chair without the legs on and using hand controls in the car.

Extreme E from 2021 on Poverty TV.
Business proposal to the sponsors must have been, "Lets create work for 'Sports People' & the media while we all have a jolly around the world letting rich people get some tax breaks while pretending it is about conserving the world and we say we are not just making memories but leaving a legacy where we visit." To make it relevant we will have built 2 seat Space Frame buggies with bodywork the teams can mod a little and we will call them EV SUV's.

Used Skoda Warranty - Mileage Restrictions?
372 days used to come up from a PDI and changing the car from Transit Mode to allow for a week to hand over and to allow for getting a car in for service if it fell on a holiday period. Allegedly.

Extreme E from 2021 on Poverty TV.
Yes, there are only 9 cars and 2 badly damaged. Started today with 8 cars. The commentary was pretty duff yesterday IMO and better today with someone that can pass on some good info. Thank goodness for Karun Chandhok. I wandered if he was planned as just being there on the 2nd day or if they crapped themselves during yesterday. David Coulthard as a celebrity to talk to while he was visiting was a waste of time, as would be having him as a commentator. The Driver Pictures and names and other graphics had been enlarged today i think as they were pretty pathetic yesterday. The 'Votes' for favourites seems to be as crappy as with Formula-E. What i notice is they keep showing the remote location, the track, but not a good overview of the whole camp / pits / travelling roadshow. That will be because they are not wanting to show just how many ICE vehicles are required to run the event. Also today there was not much of a deal made about yesterdays crashes. That will not be the image that they want Extreme-E to be about by having the images showing.

Used Skoda Warranty - Mileage Restrictions?
Skoda, SEAT, Audi & VW can show that Variable / Flexible servicing as being from 18,000-20,000 miles, and a Motability owned SEAT might be handed over showing the first service due at 20,000 miles. The reminder on the car might start showing at 18,500 or even later. Fixed with VW on here @ 9,300. https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules Here they are calling them 'schedules' and not 'Manufacturers Recommendations', as far as intervals.
-
Used Skoda Warranty - Mileage Restrictions?
That is the rub. First is that Fixed Service intervals. Then the service done should be because that is required to Manufacturers recommendations' and Specifications. Yet if the DSG or Haldex service is due that will be 'an extra cost' as would be brake fluid, spark plugs or fuel filter. If the Dealership staff at the service desk staff forget to tell owners they are required then the owner is not meeting the terms in the Warranty. Often car owners are not made aware of the likes of DSG or Haldex service being due. PS. When the car had long life oil the service interval can be variable. But when fixed it is showing at 9,400 miles. Some of us say 9,400 miles and not just 10,000 miles. Reason being 500 miles over 9,400 miles is still within 10,000 miles. Going by 10,000 intervals then not able to get a service booked for weeks ahead then has it going well over in miles for some. Same really with variable. I had a Motability car that could not get booked for the first major oil change and had covered 22,000 miles before the first oil change.

Used Skoda Warranty - Mileage Restrictions?
An important one for those with Haldex is Skoda and poor Recommendations' or specifications. The service schedule when you could get one from Skoda or Dealership staff were sometimes given as 4 years. Some said 40,000 miles then VW started saying at 3 years and no miles given. Still the Haldex done at 3 years might be done without the pump removed and cleaned, screen cleaned. Yet the car might have FMDSH and the warranty should not be void on the Haldex.

Used Skoda Warranty - Mileage Restrictions?
The T&C.s have been brought up lots in the past. They say 'in accordance with manufacturers recommendations'. Not schedule. Then 'Manufacturers specifications'. Which is good is Skoda were clear of 'recommendationd' and 'specifications'. Strange thing is that you can buy a Skoda approved used car' with a 1 or 2 year warranty that has not been serviced to Skoda recommendations or specifications. DSG or Haldex service or brake fluid change not carried out at the recommended intervals. Skoda service plans and servicing of fleet vehicles might mean that recommendations or specifications on mile / time serviced were not adhered to.

tweenster's S2000
@tweenster. Have you driven a 1.6 ST yet. The overboost does at times mean that it should walk all over a vRS. Just a shame it is so short lived. They are on tyres that are not as rubber band as on the Skoda. Truth of the scores on the doors is actually when putting them head to head though. The big difference is not the official figures. The manual box is the big difference. Obviously when many around my area had 1.6 ST,s bought new the driver's might not have been able to get the best performance out of them.

Skoda advert.
The adverts are there to make you aware. Many ads like with Paloma Faith were annoying to a section of viewers including motorists. But then that causes discussions and familiarity. Like the Opera Singer ads .. You might vow never to use that Comparison Sight but ending up checking out quotes.

Skoda advert.
Good ad. I have gone to look at cars and get a test drive having seen adverts and gone on to buy ones. New & Used.

6 or 7 speed DSG?
@chimaera That School of thought was correct. I had a 2005 Passat. Have you ever seen a Volkswagen TPI that got to dealerships recommending changing the spec of oil for the diesels or petrols from their official advice at launch & after the warranty had expired?

Fabia mk2 greenline rear coil spring
@CheapasHigher priced has never equated to higher standard spec with MK2's. The highest priced Mk2 was the vRS. No Front Fog lights as standard or as an option, yet the brochure and the stuff you find on the cars advertised using Skoda spec says they have. Electric rear windows, arm rest and much more were options unless you were getting a special like the S2000 which was just the same car with a different name and decals then stuff came as standard. The same with the early Monte Carlo which were overpriced and not selling well until Skoda came up with Tech models with more as standard and lower RRP.

Getting the shudders
@Martini77Welcome to the forum. What engine does your car have, and how many miles has it done? You say looked at serviced and diagnosed. Was your car one that required the Service Campaign on the DQ200 DSG, cars from 2010-2012, '34F7', synthetic oil changed for mineral & a software update, or was that not necessary on your DSG because a late 2012 car, also not requiring the campaign '34H5' which was on some DQ200 DSG's from 2013-2015.

Karoq choices
@Scot5 I remember everything i post and where i post it, as to the subjects, and the latest on them, i remember where i read it and who wrote it. My CV for Experience. Many years car & vehicle trading, buying at auction etc since i was 15 years old, working in garages and motor engineering workshops, and time served as a mechanic and car sprayer, and owning and driving cars, mine and others including cars in my family. EDiT. I posted this in reply to a post removed by a Mod. So it is not in reply to or aimed at @xman who I read his posts and I appreciate his knowledge. So if others actually knew something about what they were posting on here and about other members cars and the cars in general by talking to owners and techs / mechanics things might go better. Bother to actually find out the issues and keep up with them and know the background to what and why things are happening. Just posting a statement that all is well, and that is that, and then it is supposed to be taken as gospel is an issue. There is enough of that going on with employees at dealerships and customer services. @Scot5 Strange that you post what you think you know about what cars i own and have owned, or have bought and sold over the time i have been a member of Briskoda. I suppose i just found the forum online and joined it because it was about cars and stuff in general. I read your post from joining to you gaining more knowledge from the forum or other sources and then coming away with some real crackers. You call people armchair experts and you seem to know all about being exactly that.

6 or 7 speed DSG?
@Andy9-5Interesting about VW issuing that advice, It is good, and what many of us do with TSI's, but i have never seen a TPI from VW / Skoda / Audi or SEAT saying that. It would be great to see that in print from VW. 5w 30 FS III so VW 504 00 / 507 00 is the recommended oil for Fixed & Variable Servicing. Long Life Oil. With a 1.8 TSI i would use VW502 00, so 5w 40 FS. That is not Long Life Oil and means for fixed service intervals. Not to scare you, but look at the pinned thread & the top of the Mk2 Octavia Section on 1.8 & 2.0 TSI's and be aware of the potential issues. PS TDI's require VW 507 00. That is for Fixed or Variable Service Intervals. No idea why VW would recommend 5w 40 for TDI's after 4 years, there must have been some misunderstanding with that.

6 or 7 speed DSG?
@Andy9-5 What does the full history show as being done over the past 10 or 11 years? Is it annual or bi-annual oil changes, pollen and air filter and spark plugs, brake fluid changed a few times etc. Maybe check here and see if anything shows outstanding for Service Campaign work. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
