  1. @J.R. I can tell you that if the car shows 60 miles and you were driving dead economically and getting 53 mpg say, then you drive spirited on a different type of road having come out of the 50 mph average speed camera area you can run out of fuel in say 30 miles. Also that in a mk2 Fabia TSI when venting the 45 litre tank you can get maybe 59 litres in when you really have taken the tank low to the point of only having a very little fuel left in the tank and it showing 10 miles range. If you can run even lower then good, but why, you might have a hill to climb and might not get up it. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/447650-well-that-was-a-bit-odd-fuel-tank-capacity

  3. High 50's to low-mid 60's MPG is easy to get on runs over 50 miles in a modern Yaris Hybrid. But then put adult passengers in the seats, stuff in the boot and head onto dual carriageways / motorways then like any vehicle the economy can be affected. With an EV with a range of 250 miles and more then it is a case of charging as required / when available. But then an EV with a range of 250 miles plus with one or 2 people in has a different range when you load it with people and stuff. Now that there is a member on the forum with a Skoda Enyaq we might get to find out more about real world range, charging times etc.

@Masternet Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting the Pic. Very nice. ? Could you tell us what the car is exactly, what size the wheels / tyres are, battery etc, and what it came with for cables. Was it 1 or 2 cables? ? Do you have a home charger, or will you rely on public charging?
  5. @Stubod If they drove your Yeti they might get less MPG than you do, and if you drove their self charging Yaris Hybrid maybe you could better their MPG. It is horses for courses, and with a Plug in Hybrid and someone that does only 30 miles and charges after every trip they might do no MPG as the petrol will stay unused.
  6. One thing not odd was the muppet infront of me this morning in a white Taycan. Kirriemuir to Dundee. Yes they have AWD, but that means nothing when the road is covered in ice and there was no salting done. Braking on the corners is not simply clever, and neither is trying to accelerate on the straight. In think they might just be trying to get suitable tyres fitted today, or if not be driving something else for the next few weeks. 'Don't drive your car to the Tay on summer tyres in winter' should be a warning that comes up in low temps. Or just drive with great caution.
  7. 20,000 miles for the first service at 12 months old happens so easily. Not an issue. The Service Guidelines are 18,500-20,000 miles / 24 months on variable servicing with VW Group, and a high mileage driver gets to 18,000 miles and gets a 'Service due' warning on the car, calls the dealership to book a service and they can not get you booked in for a few weeks, maybe a month. So there you are the car goes and gets it's first service and that is at 20,000 miles. This happens regularly so in other words is common with high annual mileage users. If your car is going by time like 372 days Fixed, or 24 Months Variable then a wait for an appointment is no big deal if the car does low miles per week. So, ? If the car has a FMDSH does that full main dealer history of servicing to the manufacturers guidelines show as having the Pollen Filter replaced @ 2 years? The brake fluid at 3 years so this year? Did the air filter and spark plugs get replaced at the 2nd Major Service or anytime since like at 40,000 miles. Or even checked? If the car has a DSG was that serviced at 40,000 miles or sooner?

If you have a Yeti with Haldex then i would not be bothering yourself about XDS. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/186046-xds-now-available-with-4x4 Plenty threads after this if anyone wants to search. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/425322-xds XDS was standard on Mk2 Fabia vRS and you could set it and some had it off using VCDS for track use or even spirited driving and some put it up from the factory setting. On track if the brake system got over hot, even with upgraded hoses, fluid, pads, calipers it Disables iis self anyway. XDS+ followed on from XDS. Its really just EDL in different flavours. http://skoda-auto.com/world/edl-xds
  9. O so very green. Not! Feels expensive, feels big, so that will be because it is expensive and big.
  10. Indeed i am, but not implying. Just saying that is how it will be.
  11. @chrisluciofg only twice in 25,000 miles is good. Obviously as time goes on if your use is much as now they will possibly become more frequent and the km/miles / time you need to give it that wee blast increases.
  12. Everything is there ship shape and Bristol fashion and ready to do their thing unless you opt out or they are not working and neither are the warning lights or messages. Much like the Haldex, the car might have it and many have no idea if it functions until somehow someone notices it does not. Like airbags, it is assumed they will function even though they are years out of date.
  13. There are car reviewers road testing and reviewing the likes on the VW ID.3 and complaining or commenting on the 'Lane Assist' and saying that you need to make 3 or 4 actions using the switches & screen to 'switch it off' and claiming that legislation says it can not be easily switched off. If the legislation does say that, then oddly plenty cars have lane assist that is on at start up and just needs one momentary press of a button to turn it off. New drivers passing a driving test might never know what was standard on cars built in the last decade let alone ones before that. The only car they ever get in for lessons and that they will drive will have Stop / Start, Lane Assist and parking sensors or cameras. @3mins 10 seconds.
  14. The Euro 6d and newer TDI's with DPF's & SCR can be an issue when people are doing regular short journeys and occasional long journeys. That is different from regular long journeys and occasional short in just how many regens are or may be occurring. The regens happening regularly with the town / city short journey commuter can use addition fuel so reducing the economy just doing regens. The OP will be the one that knows if they are buying a vehicle as a keeper and will have it longer than the Manufacturers Warranty or even an extended warranty if they are buying one.
  15. So the OP will might be interested in what can the car get on the OEM wheels and tyres in and around Sydney and its weather conditions.
  16. New EU legislation will have the Lane assist and other stuff as standard on all cars. https://www.ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/IP_19_1793 http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/european-union-lists-safety-features-mandate-2021 Drivers were not paying attention so safety stuff as required, now so much stuff for safety is there and drivers still do not know how it works and are distracted by it and the Bluetooth, and connectivity / Infotainment etc. So there is ESP / ESC, ABS / TC / ASR / XDS/ XDS+. Now there are so many warnings and things to alert people and they still hit things and have blind spots as the car is designed. Drivers were dead dozy, had run flat tyres and never knew there was a puncture / blow out so TPMS were required. Now many still never check tyre pressures unless there is a warning. Same with Oil, Coolant, Washer Fluid etc etc. Auto Lights and Auto Wipers and many have no idea what lights are on when or if there are any on to the rear. Many have no idea where to put the wiper stalk, or how to chose from the menu what they want, front, rear wipe, angel wipe etc.
  17. @linni @Tim123 mentions the great economy of a diesel and the cheaper cost of it in Australia. ? What is the actual economy of the vRS doing short trips?
  18. Ah, tyres that cost less because they are less expensive sizes but still the same brand, type and rubber quality. People need to remember that the top brand named manufacturers can still produce tyres that are not inexpensive to purchase but are rubbish to drive with. Bridgestone Duellers being a case in point IME.
  19. @Tim123 Is Australia getting the Kodiaq vRS TDI as they are are being discontinued elsewhere globally because Australia are lax on emissions? What is the Petrol Engine offered in Australia and would it not be more economic for your needs yet have enough power?
  20. The OEM Spares are on 15" or 16" steels for a Fabia that are not Space Savers but will not have a tyre that matches identically the 4 on the car, so maybe consider getting an alloy the same size or even type as on the car and getting a 5th tyre. (The wheel and tyre taken off the car when the spare goes on fits in the spare tyre well.) http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/444440-spare-wheel Maybe you will a full size alloy and tyre advertised in the Briskoda for sale ads, maybe an OEM spare and sometimes even a tool kit. Worth mud flaps if you like mud flaps. Maybe best fitting yourself if you can and like more money in your pocket.
  21. @Tim123 We need a year or 3 until we find out if the GPF (OPF) that VW Group / Skoda went with will be trouble free and cheap when replacement time comes. VW like the customers to do the 'real world testing.' PS Worth putting your location in your sig so that people know where you are when posting replies.
  22. @Tim123 Welcome to the forum. ? What country are you in? Just asking to get some idea of what sort of weather / temperatures the 10-30 minute journey might be done in.
  23. @dazedandconfused i was a bit confused when you posted about 'aftermarket alloy wheels' as that was not mentioned up to that point, just changing the size of the alloys. EDIT. Sorry i take it that was what you were meaning with the prices you mentioned for wheels and tyres. (Maybe buying used wheels as you find advertised in Briskoda and getting a refurb of them if needed is worth considering.) The same with 'cheap rubber', nobody mentioned that until you did. Just check if changing wheels that are OEM for the car or 'aftermarket ones' will affect your insurance costs. What will then let you know rather than thinking that it probably will increase your insurance. If your insurer does not like Modifications or will not cover cars with modifications there are plenty that will cover them and that does not automatically mean an increased premium. Maybe when your policy is due for renewal is the best time to shop around for new insurance and there are Sponsors for Briskoda in the Insurance section that might quote you happy. PS Re Michelin Primacy 4. (ECO tyres really that are not priced as Budget tyres but might well have worse behaviour than cheapos..) My e-Corsa which is likely as heavy or heavier than your Octavia and is FWD came fitted with Primacy 4 in 205/45 R 17. They were total crap & traction control was flashing like a politician out for a walk in the park, and were changed to Michelin CrossClimates which were much better in the wet or damp and even the dry. (The Media Launch car i had driven had Michelin Pilot Sport fitted which were rather good.) Just now the CrossClimates are off the car and i have Michelin Alpin 6 tyres on for the winter.
  24. Bl00dy tractor like Unimog's with flashing beacon are always getting followed by dithering drivers and stopping spirited driving on the best bit of roads.... Something that can get a move on and carry a years worth of shopping is what is needed.
