  1. People have since the days of motoring with air or liquid cooled engines. Just try it and see how it goes. Maybe use a cardboard or some material that has a bit of a coating that is not just going to end as damp cardboard. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/488303-winter-radiator-muff-for-chilly-low-mileage-days-in-scotland
  2. The calculation on range left it based on your last few miles of driving and how that is economic or not. I would really never be going lower than 50 miles range showing before putting fuel in, and never trying to carry on with it showing 0. I hope you have a spare fuel can and filler carried with you.
  3. @iV_grey An amazing average fuel consumption for the petrol. If you start a journey with a full charge and a full fuel tank how far could you travel and how many litres does the tank hold?
  4. Loving running an EV in winter. Without being plugged in at home and pre warmed it is just a case of getting into a frozen up car, turning on and the interior is toasty in minutes, glass and screen all deiced very quickly and heated seats and wheel making the car very comfortable. I am going to charge for free for an hour or so most mornings first thing and the car is hot while doing that. 40 minutes free charging and that is good for about 100 miles and some town and back road driving and about 60 miles or so range still in hand. This is at temps around freezing or lower night and day time. Much cheapness. 5500 miles covered and still under £14 paid to use chargers and that was in the first week of driving this car and trying pay and go chargers. Not yet used any chargers in council areas where there is a cost to charge.
  5. Easy enough to check what spark plugs are needed for whichever petrol engine, using the Reg number or VIN. Best to know if the spark plug type was changed for engines from when the car was launched and owner's manuals printed and maybe never updated.

@JamesWood Welcome to the forum. Do you want to know the biggest tyres you can fit on 17" rims, or what size rims? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/474351-all-terrains-on-a-yeti http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/457077-yeti-tourer
  7. Welcome. ? What age of Superb are you looking at? No 2.0 TDI or TSI have DQ200 DSG's. The DQ200 DSG is only on Skoda models with fwd & 150ps or less, so that includes a Karoq. The Kangerooing issues should not occur now with a new vehicle, but then it should of not with the ones before now, and VW Group should have them fixed, and they do not have them all sorted.
  8. VW Direct needs to give themselves a shake. They can be as bad as Service Desk Staff. It is like Lost in Translation from German to English / Czech / Spanish or any language with them. I am interested in what the oil they say they would use with a Euro 6 TDI for fixed services. ? What is this 'Conventional Oil' ? VW 502 00 for a TSI on Fixed Servicing is 'Conventional oil' ie Not Long Life Oil.. https://volkswagen.co.uk/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules If you are used to doing your own servicing you could do Oil & filter Changes between Dealership Variable Services if you want. Just get a vacuum pump for easiness. The difference in price of the oil really is neither here nor there since it is a TDI of the age of yours that requires VW507 00 For Fixed or Variable Regimes. It is in ASDA, TESCO and many other places at very reasonable prices. There is not an increase in the cost of oil on variable / flexible if you are going 18,000-20,000 miles between changes of oil and filter rather than 9,400 miles / 372 days. You are maybe buying twice as much oil on fixed and 2 filters and sump plugs. It is still VW507 00 that you are purchasing. The VW509 00 is for the TDI's that came from the factory at WLTP time and ever since. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/466613-where-do-you-buy-your-508509-spec-oil-from (TSI's are the ones since 2018 that VW / Skoda recommend VW508 00 for. The VW 508 00 / 509 00 is 0w 20 FS IV. That is what was used at the Factory. VW507 00 can still be used with new TDI's. VW504 00 / 507 00 for the TSI's. ...................... Below is for the latest TSI's not TDI's and Variable / Flexible Service Regime.
  9. @Me-109 So that is as it should be if you get supplied with the real thing and to the spec you need, same as with everything, not just oil. But if someone supplies snide oil then you might never know unless there is some issue that happens.
  10. The Main Dealer servicing the DSG at around the 40,000 mark is not an out. As long as it was before the 40,000 miles or very near. That was to the Manufacturers Reomendations. Not having anything done to the DSG up to 58,000 miles should not be a problem. As for the Service by an Independent then that gives reason to not even consider 'Goodwill' You make your choices and take your chances when you go 'Independent', but even if it had been at a Main Dealers for a Service you can get told to get on your bike.
  11. Bargain on the Insurance! One of his vids that is my favourite is his trip in Italy in the Alfa he has sold. Pre Harry's Farm.
  12. Does it show on the VIN checker as outstanding for a Recall Action/ The Fix? http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions
  13. Guest_ replied to W9XER's topic in Skoda Karoq
@W9XER You are obviously pretty familiar by now with the tyre sidewalls. What are the tyres and size on the car. Have you checked each tyre to be sure all 4 match for speed / load rating? ? What do Skoda UK & the Dealership intend doing now to resolve the fault that has no fault code being logged and that their finest can not diagnose what the fault is?
  14. Guest_ replied to W9XER's topic in Skoda Karoq
@W9XER Welcome to the forum. Can we assume that since the car has been at the dealers 7 times, the TPMS is getting correctly reset each time that it is being looked at and when you are checking the tyre pressures?
  15. I take it that at 2 years / 18,000 miles the Airbox was not opened and the air filter looked at and certainly not changed. An airfilter should be on the invoice if it was replaced. I would look in the airbox just to check how it is looking. Was it a Skoda / VW garage doing the service that might have done a software update, or was it an independent? Ask if a Software Update was carried out. Regarding the tyres, they are summer tyres, and 2 year old summer tyres. Have you checked if they changed the tyre pressures at the service, maybe inflated them more. This would have been a good time maybe to change the front wheels / tyres to the rear, to get the most life out of them if that tread measurement is accurate.
  16. Welcome. Maybe the PHEV might not be allowed to have a tow bar for towing because VW says it can not while SEAT, VW or Audi hybrids can, just as happened with Mk1 & Mk2 Fabia vRS were not Type Approved to while sister cars from the other brands with the same drive trains could.
  17. The Owners manual is just there covering the basics and is not a Service Manual. With the tools there is no reason why you should not change them very easily. ? Have you looked at what you need to do to change them?
  18. It could have been hooky oil in a Mannol container, that can happen with Oil bought on Ebay or anyplace in a Castrol , Mobile or any container, fraudsters are about.
  19. For UK MOT's Spot / Driving Lights / Auxiliary lights are not part of the it. But then they need to be on separate switches and not coming on with the dipped or full beam when tested. So lights for Offroad or onroad where not dazzling other road users, be that in vehicles, foot or bicycle, and especially not some Police Officer that might be parked up watching for speeders, drink drivers or people that can not get up the road at the safe speed with the use of just full beam and legal spot / driving lights if required.
  20. ? Did the dealership not have a set of them and someone try to see which it needed? A google of the different ones that will show might make it easy for you to identify the correct one. Hopefully someone has the diagram with the Letter Code showing.
  21. @LevL Welcome to the forum. Hopefully the member has sorted things out in the past near 2 years. A pity they never came back to say how they got on with things.
  22. @sepulchrave You being an ex professional tuner as you tell us surely know not to assume what power someone has with their engine. There are plenty that only care about show without much go. Stylee over function, the op might want to travel at 100 kph or be it 150 kph in Croatia and not care what the advice is from some in the UK the question was about the fit. EDIT. The previous posts on economy have relevance right enough. A post on modding the car for economy seems like a 'simply clever' idea.
