  1. If @DHarry says an approx area of Scotland he is in then maybe somebody can point him to a Independent where it is maybe operated by Ex VW Group Master Techs that do have the Licensed Equipment and can update Service Records & even do Warranty work. They do exist, they are not some internet myth. 'Approved repairers'. If near the Edinburgh area, i highly recommend. https://www.autohausedinburgh.co.uk If in the North East of Scotland here is the place to go IMO. https://www.victoriagarage-maud.co.uk
  2. Good plan. The various Skoda, Seat, Audi & VW Dealerships are running Demonstrators or cars that will be sold in a few months / 3,000 miles as Ex Management cars, so they should know exactly how far MY2021 Plug in Hybrids can travel on a charge this winter. The various Motoring Journalists, Journalists, Editors, Vloggers, Bloggers & Joggers should know as well as owners / drivers how far. By next Spring Summer Salespeople & the VW Group UK should able to tell potential buyers that there are so many variables, but.....
  3. @Bertie90 Can you not just say what EU Country the car is going to to get Registered in? There might well be members from there or with experience of the bureaucracy.
  4. @ERIK99 I think you might find that on Briskoda there is nobody that pulls up the VW Group & Skoda more than me for their Customer Service, Warranty Refusals,Mis-Advertising etc etc. On the honesty of some Dealerships & Employees and the same at Skoda UK Customer Services and the Brand Directors / CEO's. As to mis-advertising if that happens then Contact the ASA, Trading Standards, your MP etc. If mis-sold by the Dealership or Skoda UK the Importer then do the same.
  5. They really are an eye opener and do seem to make drivers aware of just how often their attention might wander and they are wandering about their lane or side of the road usually. If the driver thinks about this they will maybe get an idea to what they usually look like to drivers following them.
  6. Nothing wrong with Kwik Fits oil if they use the correct oil, a big 'If' , which they do not always., That is if you want to VW 504 / 507 so 5w 30 FS III.
  7. Where are you, and do you want your car safe & well serviced & maintained? I would avoid KwikFit. I watched customers ripped off, oil filter wiped clean and dirty finger print on the filter. The sump plug was out and then replaced as they never had the correct one, not even a washer changed. The 'Kwik fit flitter' was layed out on his arse by the the girls 'Uncle' watching from the waiting room. They had done same the year before with the Pre Winter Service Check and Oil & Filter deal for £99. People trust their Brake Inspections, Suspension & Steering, trust their lives and others to these 'Fitters'. Be prepared to be ripped off at a Main Dealership if you let them. This is 3-10 year old Fixed Pricing started since Jan 2020.
  8. Best avoid Halfords. Depending where you are in Scotland you might be able to find a VW Specialist that has all the gear and more than an idea. Licensed Equipment that can get all the info like Software Updates, TPI's etc and can service the car and put that on the System. Also reset the Service Indicator as they know what they are doing.
  9. @J.R. might be the person that can help you with his knowledge. ? Is the car going to France to stay and be registered or to some other EU country? ? Did you ask the person that deals just in LHD cars for any advice?
  10. Simply Clever if people paid attention to 'Up to 55km', when reading bumff on range and remembering that is supposedly Global and Winter in the UK and Summer in the UK or Australia can be very different.
  11. ^^^^ Perfect stuff, that i can not spell. Preparation for winter is 'Simply Clever'. Servicing, prepping door / hatch seals. Fuel Filler flap etc. Polish the paint work and lube the catch / fastener. Tyre Pressures, Winter Screen Wash, check Anti Freeze / Summer Coolant / Anti Rust solutions strength. ie Coolant. If you do use Warm Water to get the doors open remember and dry off later before things freeze up again during the day or night. The Car Plan Pre Icer i got last year was rubbish for windows but good for spraying door seals as long as nobody gets their clothes spoiled on it and you clean off after the winter. Halfords Night Before Deicer was great but not had it for a couple of winters. It was usually 3 for the price of 2.
  12. This sis showing the CrossClimate 2.
  13. 'Harry's Farm' should be having a few Wind turbines erected and get on with part of the farm as a Solar Park, that will bring more dosh into it, it does for others and the South should be producing more electricity. The building his vehicles in with the correct construction could host a lot of solar panels on the roof. Not sure the rather low number of 1.5 million is correct on what actual Classics are stashed around the UK and not on the DVLA database or any Historic Register. There are cars / bikes / tractors etc 'missing in action' and exported that re-appear down the line. The Low Emission Zone Exemption is taking the p!th and probably something that Peers of the Realm made sure is staying. There are maybe 40 million vehicles registered in the UK but certainly nothing near that actually getting used at any one time. A figure that matters quite a lot is the number of vehicles being scrapped in the UK annually. What is coming ashore at St Fergus shown on the map in Purple is North Sea Oil with gas to move it along to Grangemouth. Also gas to the dirty Peterhead Power Station. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-42308437 Harry is an expert and enthusiast and loves his driving and cars but to be real he lives and drives around where he lives lots and there is a 60mph NSL, and in the rest of the UK and great driving roads and a VW UP GTI can be fun and so can a e-UP be when the NSL applies on the corners. Operating / generating for 3 years now.
  14. @mark999 You are just the person we need, so do not be shy and spill the beans. So unless you are bound by Commercial or Industrial Confidentiality you can tell us what Fuel Retailer has the additive package and detergents we want to be buying, be that just standard Derv or Premium Diesel. We know what the Standard Diesels are, and we know the Premium Diesels so is Shell V-Power better than ESSO's or BP's premium? Then the big question, what diesel from what retailer do you run in your own vehicles when paying with your own money? Australia is obviously not in Europe and has different specifications for many things like fuel, and vehicles engine management, but they do have a haulage transport industry and vehicles doing very long distances as do International Truckers from the UK / Europe. The haulage industry do like to get the bet value from their fuel / fluids and vehicles / engines. So do courier companies and fleets. The accountants know which fuel they want to be buying / paying for.
  15. What matters is if you set odd and use all the battery energy in 16 miles or if it holds at 16 for maybe 10 miles and you get further than 16 miles on the battery. ? What is the temperatures overnight where you are and is the car garaged or outside?
  16. Welcome. Best have that professional and knowledgeable mechanic get back onto the job and achieve what you paid him or her to do. He or she is really the one to speak to.
  17. Lease to an individual and lease to a fleet are rather different, but no matter as you do want the one with the Service History of stuff done and not just the Service History of being into a Main Dealership with Oil & Filter changes and not much else before handed back and end of lease and not Serviced to Manufacturers Recommendations even if on a Service Plan.
  18. MPV / SUV or whatever term is used does not change them from being mid sized cars with some taller than others that are 4 or 5 seaters or maybe 4 full size and a small one. Maybe FWD and maybe AWD.
  19. @OldKaroqI remember you saying that in another thread. ? What age of Sportage was that and was it a European built one or in South Korea? Comparing a 2016 car with 2020 ones is like comparing 2016 Skoda with a 2020 one, maybe a fair thing as the OP has pointed out issues his car is having, and issues others are having with their Karoq's since they were introduced. Hopefully the MY21 cars are fully sorted and no need to wait until there is a facelift. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/450809-so-disapointed
  20. No point NT setting it up for the Free Tracking check and then you paying for any adjustment if replacement parts will be needed. The tyres could go on and the 'tracking check' and adjustment or better still an alignment check done someplace with all the gear and more than an idea after you get your mechanic to inspect the car. ? Do National Tyres do a full 4 wheel Alignment check, & how much then for any adjustment? If this is your taxi is it not getting regular inspections and maintenance anyway checking brakes, suspension, steering etc?
  21. Some say it breaches Data Protection to show the Name of the Technician that signed off the work or the sales person that signed in and out the car. Because held on a computer. But whatever crap it is for a Car Owner / Driver to know their car is safe, so the Data Protection could mean 'Unsafe cars incorrectly serviced or maintained on the road.' You are asking for the Service & Maintenance/ Warranty information, work done and part numbers, not some previous owners name , address or any details from their paperwork. So not a print out of their stuff. Anyhow, if no full Service History available just assume you need to do the stuff required and haggle the price accordingly. If the Trader / Dealer says they will do the work as they get it cheaper, just thank them and say take the cost they would pay for the work off the car as you can find a trusted mechanic that is cheap.
  22. @ERIK99 I have driven Self Charge Hybrids and plug in. Yaris, VW Golf GTE & the A3 version, Niro & Niro Plug In and know the theory and know how they were in the real world. You can hypermile them or just drive them and get different results but weather and routes makes the difference, and weight in the car.
  23. @ERIK99 Charge the battery and save it and drive using the engine up into the hills (around MK!!!) and then using electric do a return trip and if there is enough regen and low energy consumption that range when charged again will show high. That is the only way the car has any idea of possible range. I have 98% in my EV which was good for 180+ range on the right roads and warmer weather and today it is showing 80 miles range because of the last cold days and nights and some trips locally on the flat. If i head off for an trip with regen and get back and charge to 97% the range will be up around 150 miles. Best range i have had showing after charging from a 50 mile trip home from Braemar which is mostly downhill and getting re-cooperation.
