  1. So the plates can now go on new or already on the road EV's. I read that Transport Secretary Grant Shapps MP is the first to have them on his car. (Halfords got a bit of publicity fitting them to his TESLA.) http://bbc.co.uk/newsround/55229009 Green stick on flashes should do the job perfectly well if the car already has plates. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-9030051/Transport_Secretary-hands-green-number-plate-Tesla.html
  2. VW Group Dealerships were several years back doing Haldex Services correctly or in correctly at 40,000 miles. VW changed that to @ 3 years, then eventually Skoda did as well. The interval is not 40,000 unless that is what you have done at 3 years old. Even 3 years and 30,000 miles can have a gummed up filter in the pump.
  3. ? How steep is the terrain your are using it on and what kind of surface?
  4. Guest_ replied to awfabia's topic in Skoda Yeti
Not as high. Easy in and out though because that was how it was designed. Nearer to a Niro really.
  5. For mechanical sympathy and safety use the Parking Brake when parking. (Maybe in very cold weather for extended periods do not use it and chock the wheels.) The owners manual does cover the subject of the DSG and parking..

I have driven the Crosstar and the e-CVT should be tried before anyone decries it. I happen to like CVT's that work well, and this one does with the mild hybrid as far as i am concerned. Soon the 1.0 & 1.5 TSI's from the VW Group will all be mild hybrids when they have a DSG.
  7. No point calling e-Brakes hand brakes any more as it is more of a 'finger brake' if you are applying and it is not being applied automatically as the car is switched off or door opened.
  8. Yes use the Parking Brake when the DSG is put in 'P'. The front drive wheels are locked with a pawl in the gearbox. Apply the rear brakes to hold the car and not have all the strain on the pawl.
  9. @KoreeniumLikely in your country the 98 ron (Min) Superunleaded in your country has now changed from Summer Formulation to Winter fuel and is still 98 ron min but could be more like 100+ ron.
  10. @vrskeith Just too many pretty cars to choose from and as for picking a Porsche from the ones outside i would be lost in what to get, but it might be a white one.
  11. Not really on all 4 wheels. but it will on the odd 1 or 2. All 4 need to go silly lower before an alert, but then every car is not the same and XL or run flat tyres can go rather low compared to when set to get a warning. Easy to check, just go outside and let each of your tyres down by 5 PSI then go drive.
  12. & you can set a 2nd Speed Warning if you go to 'Winter Tyres' and set that.
  13. Check the windscreen very closely. You are looking for chips or tiny chips that would annoy in the sunlight. Either cars screen could be a replacement anyway. ((but you do not want to have an accident and need to get a new screen soon after getting a used car, like someone breaking it on purpose by mistake to get a new one.)
  14. Not sure what is noticeable about the discs over the drums for road use or even fast road use. (Try the brakes on a MOT brake tester.) The brakes slow or stop the car as long as the tyres keep traction with the road and the back end can still lose traction with drums or discs. (Mk2 vRS have lumps of weight added to the rear crash bar.) Either set up can still allow hand brake turns, J turns etc. Mk2 Fabia vRS OEM rear brakes are adequate for road use as are the fronts. That is IMO, so nothing worth writing home about. Fabia Greenline built to be lighter and more economic on fuel and lower emissions. vRS was sandbagged to have it heavier than the VW Polo GTI, have higher Emissions & poorer economy. Funny thing was that VW gave false VW Polo GTI kerb weights and had to revise them and as it was the vRS was still lighter, and no slower.
  15. Ferryden, Montrose.

  17. Looks to me like a man who is not really happy at the outcome and keeping the car.
  18. Here is Tesco's results from their tests they commissioned in 2012 . All about fuel consumption and lower emissions really, which does get achieved with more efficient running which usually means better performance, be that lower consumption or better power output. Maybe other Fuel Wholesalers and Retailers should make public test their results. Tesco no longer do, but here they are anyway. 6ca06d648b9541e78fa838fece4a1a23 (1).pdf 388380a097b04fe693a8c27db8bb4974 (1).pdf
  19. Greenergy that bring in the base fuels with their partner Royal Dutch Shell and who supply to ESSO in a lots of the UK. Tesco Momentum 99. Esso Synergy Supreme 99 + & Shell V-Power Nitro + which is 99 octane minimum. Esso says Ethanol Free in some of the UK locations. *** I want the ethanol and could not care less about the detergents, which is why Tesco Momentum 99 can be lovely stuff with a min 99 ron, and at this time of the year what you get in Scotland can feel just like Winter Super Unleaded from Continental Europe at 100+ ron.*** Seat of the pants or Dynamic Dyno feeling, Dyno being best to get the scores on the doors. Truth being none are selling you any better a Additive Package than the other. Put them on a Dyno, and strip engines all you like but Royal Dutch Shell is not selling anything special.
  20. They are longer than a Karoq but not as long as a Kodiaq but i would hope that the clearance would at least be as good as its at 194mm. & Kodiaq wheel base 2791 mm, Enyaq 2,765 mm, Karoq 2,638 mm. Kodiaq Kerb Weights,1,474-1,853 kg, Enyaq 1,890-1998 kg. Karoq 1,344 - 1658 kg. As it is the ground clearance needs to be the given figure at the Full Revenue / Max Gross weight otherwise it is a nonsense if it is just at the Unladen weight. Same with the range even with the ridiculous WLTP figures, it should be at fully laden.
  21. A big VW issue is never make it easy if you can make it confusing, and then mess about with engine types / generations and call them similar names, then translate German to Czech. or English, American English, Spanish or whatever. First chart is regarding earlier engines including TSI's including Euro 6 Emissions. The one below when they went 0w 20 FS IV to get the Co2 g/km for the WLTP / RDE. (& it is about Variable servicing and they choose not to do one for Fixed Servicing if you did not want to use Long Life oil.)
  22. Unless you own a car from new & know it is Factory Standard, you can certainly look at codes on stickers, but you are as well measuring the disc as well because any owner anytime can upgrade discs and calipers and fit bigger ones. Something commonly asked on here. 'What bigger brakes can i fit.'
  23. Noooo VW 504 00 / 507 00 if on Fixed Servicing or Variable for a TSI. That includes 1.4TSI's. (The VW507 00 part of that is for TDI's on fixed or variable service intervals) The VW 504 / 507 is 5w 30 FS III (long Life.) It can happen to come as 0w 30 FS III and other specs. It can be VW502 00 so 5w 40 Full Synthetic that is used for Fixed Servicing. ............................................................ VW 508 00 / 509 00 is 0w 20 FS IV. That is for TSI's & TDI's that have left the factory since the WLTP certifications, so 2018 on really. A TDI needs the VW 509 00. (VW 504 00 could be used with TSI's or VW502 00 for fixed servicing if wanted.)
  24. Worth a trip to Maud then and go for a coffee and piece of cake while your car gets a proper service or more work if needed.
