Easy to go out and open a window and lock the car and then lean in and wave your arm hand about.- £1.50 per mile??!!
@Ttaskmaster It is good to talk and look at subjects and then who are spinning a story and then what is in it for them and are the paid to be advocates for or advocates against. There is a lot of money being made with the introduction of EV's and lots is coming from the UK tax payers freely given out to the chosen few that really do not need or deserve the money being thrown at them. Free enterprise is what is needed with the backing of the Government being given out fairly.- Water retention in doors
@skoda1982Do you experience temperatures below freezing for several days / nights consecutively where you park up, maybe for periods of a week or more?- How To Stop Our car being stollen throught OBD2 port ?
Many of those behind the 'professional' theft of vehicles live in very nice areas or nice places in the country or sometimes @ Mobile Home parks and have very nice vehicles them selves.- Enyaq - Ground Clearance?
No idea of the ground clearance but one good thing with an EV is when the roads are flooded and you can just drive through. I have done that and cars followed and i have seen they then got stuck as they never made it. Sensible wading height obviously and not where water is going to come in the doors. Skoda have lots to do before delivery to customers. Surely they will not release them from the factory before VW Group sort out the Software failings. (Not just putting them out with snagging faults because they need them registered to get the C02 g/km average figures needed by the group.)- EV sub £30k comparison group tests.
I had my car out on some pretty icy roads last night and then they flooded this morning and then in bits just slushy snow. No way would i have been getting on well on the standard tyres and not the winters. What is really good is how an EV deals with driving through quite deep water, just as long as not too deep.- England EV Charging points, a proposal. & location & news on new charging hubs in England & Wales.
@J.R. There is a difference in a Rapid Charge and a Quicker Rapid charge and a much faster Rapid charge. So like 43-50 kW, 100-125 kW and 350 kW chargers, and the vehicles which can use these. Maybe just for a quick fill up rather than a charge to 90-100% Fast Chargers are something rather slower that you are parking up to get as it might be quite awhile getting charged up. Only 2 locations with 350kW chargers in Scotland as far as i know.- Retrofit heated screenwash jets?
Pretty dangerous when you spray the windscreen wash from you heated nipples and the ambient temp is well below freezing and the cars interior and the windscreen is not above freezing. Like yesterday and last night in much of Scotland.- Crater 19 inch - opinion
@Carlston you ability to find tyre and wheel sizes and retailers is very impressive. But always making out that tyres that are less low profile and wheels that are smaller Is the way to go and will mean a better or less harsh ride is just guff sometimes, then when you just keep saying that unless you are trying the cars on actual roads it does seem that you are a small wheel evangelist.- Rear Ended
If the Insurance decide they are not economic repairs it is almost a a sure thing that when they go to salvage they will be getting repaired by who ever buys them, there is a whole industry doing that in the UK. That is how the cookie crumbles and write offs go back on the road. Unless crushed or parted out.- Will these fit
So lets remember that the car arrives from the factory on the OEM tyres and is in no way accurate. It over reads. As the tyres wear it gets even less accurate. So when the new wheels and tyres are fitted the speedo might be dead accurate. As long as you check then if it under reads then you can have a good talk with the car and tell it to get it's act together & you sort it out with the VCDS.- Fabia III 1.2 Remap
@DDJ26welcome. As @shyVRS245says. If you drive the same speed as you drive now then the car weighs the same regardless of the extra bhp / torque. If you want to drive more spirited, brake harder more often and take corners faster than now then upgrading might well be an idea. The SEAT Ibiza, VW Polo or Audi A1s with around 130ps have much the same platform, brakes and suspension as your Fabia has. There are plenty threads in the Mk3 Fabia section on modding and tuning.- Crater 19 inch - opinion
@Carlston Are you speaking about levels of comfort from being in the cars with the different size tyres and wheels or purely on what you think the difference in comfort with no experience of the actual difference. ie going by the scores on the doors,- Diesel Waxing
1963 was very cold, but lorries / tractors were still getting fires or heaters under them long after that. I remember seeing it still done in the 70's. There was often H20 in the fuel though. (Kerosene was usually added to the Derv.) It is as low as -5*oC on roads in the North already and going lower. Colder were there are no road sensors usually. I have my Greenhouse fan in my van now as it is minus 3 degrees and stayed below freezing all day. http://trafficscotland.org/weatherstations- New Fabia - but where's the service history?
A Warranty History is a history of Warranty Work, TPI's carried out. A Service history to keep a Manufacturers Warranty Valid is different. 'Serviced to manufacturers recommendations or guidelines using OEM fluids and parts', or what ever it says in the T&C's. *It does not say Schedule.* *** They should make the Recommendations easy to follow, and Skoda Dealerships should service Skoda Approved Cars to the recommedations yet they might not, but they will sell used ones with an Extended Warranty & FMDSH. Services were Minor / Interim & Major. Now they are Oil & Inspection Services & extended Scope each 3 years. Unless there is a Itemised Invoice or information on what was carried out the likes of car that has Guidelines / Recommendations / Schedules for a DSG oil Change @ 40,000 miles, or Haldex @ 3 years might not have unless the owner paid for that. even on a Service Plan that might not have been done, most likely not.- Will these fit
But you do not *really* have to tell your car via anything. Not by phone letter or telegram or VCDS. You could & can do if you want.- £1.50 per mile??!!
@Ttaskmaster As you were then, why even get onto the subject of EV's if they are not even coming into your plans present or in the future.- New Fabia - but where's the service history?
WBAC are not getting many 'Stamped Service Books' with Skoda's from 2012 or so. A Full Main Dealer Service History can be more a history of what was not done. A car could be serviced every year with Skoda Dealers and at 5 years old maybe not had the Brake Fluid changed at 3 & 5 years, maybe not had the wheels off and never had the Air Filter or Spark Plugs changed. Still has a FMDSH though.- Rear Ended

OTT. Bloody scandal if Air Bags do not go off if cars are locked and parked but there is the weight of people on the seats with seat belts fastened or not. Many people occupy cars parked at roadsides, in car parks or lay-bys exactly that way. Locked doors and parked. That is an Evoque in the picture is it not? DS62 HRK is a Land Rover Freelander as far as the DVLA are concerned and not a Range Rover.- New Fabia - but where's the service history?
You buy a Service Book Online, ebay / amazon or where ever. It is just a Book, matters not if Skoda is on the cover. But that is just as those that make fake Service Histories do and did and get it stamped up when ever and where ever. Just as easy to get The Invoice & receipt from the VAT Registered Garage or Mechanic with their details and Part Numbers and cost and keep that in a folder, as you can do with Main Dealers Paper Work you ask them for. There are Independent Garages & Specialists with all the licensed gear and more than an idea, they get TPI's and Service Campaign Information and some can even do Warranty work and put the Service Details onto the system. These will usually be Ex Main Dealership Techs and Master Techs that care about servicing and maintenance and customers coming back. They left the VW Group Main Dealerships who really do very little at a service and charge well for doing that very little. - 2020 & 21: Warm & Hot Hatch car videos thread.
