Picking Fabia VRS estate up soon.
PS@GUESTY There are TPI's covering the CTHE,s. So that is Softtware Updates and on the Timing Chain. Hopefully already done on your car if there were issues. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/438447-2012-2014-cthe-mk2-fabia-vrs-timing-chain-issues

Picking Fabia VRS estate up soon.
@GUESTY Welcome to the forum. If you look you will see the positive threads even though over 20% of CAVE engines failed and then the early CTHE could also fail. Best check your Warranty & Service History and see if the Early CTHE still has the Factory Engine fitted. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/394621-skoda-mk2-vrs-positive-thread-part-2-part-1-was-locked The real world is as well talked about because as far a VW is concerned it is overblown issues on Social Media / Forums. No need to bury your head in the sand like VW do, forearmed is forwarned and you know what to look for. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/353149-fabia-mk2-vrs-14tsi-replacement-engines-replaced-how-many

Lane assist is dangerous
It is meant to work to help keep you in lane, but as other manufacturers can do that without a violent jerk then no it is not the way it is meant to work. People reviewing the new VW ID.3 are complaining and telling how it takes 3 buttons to turn it off with them. My Corsa has Lane Assist and one press of a button puts it off without an extended push, i leave it on as it is damn good even on narrow back roads. 'It is a momentary push with a PSA vehicle.' See what he says. @ 3 minutes. VW will need to address the Active Lane Assist.

Oil Recomendation for 1.4 TSI RS CAVE
Is that a Typo, or Were they trying to hide oil use? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/476930-14-tsi-rs-problem-code-p2188 I recommend 5w 40 FS to VW 502 00. As did Skoda with the first built Twinchargers when they had them on Fixed Service Intervals.

Oil Recomendation for 1.4 TSI RS CAVE
Where did you see as an oil to use 10W-60? Is that just oil you have around or is that in your engine? *The Brand does not matter, it just needs to be to the Spec.* Maybe avoid the VW504 00, so Long Life oil recommended by VW Group, & maybe avoid Castrol as well considering more than 20% of Twin Charger engines built 2009-2012 failed! VW / Skoda recommend VW504 00 / VW 507 00, so 5w 30 Full Synthetic for fixed or Variable Servicing. VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS can be used for Fixed OIl Servicing.

Stop start batteries
Vorsprung Durch Technik. VW put their past behind them and go green and advance with technology. Only issue being they still use car batteries and the Software they procure and what you might get is a Courtesy Car you can rely on.

Yeti commercial
The last generation of Jimny was sold as a commercial in Ireland and with a 1.5 Diesel engine. This time with the Commercial coming to the UK it is because they will not count in Suzuki's Average Co2 g/km in the EU that is for the 'Passenger vehicles'. The emissions of the new Automatic Jimny 4 seater are ridiculous. But then over the 17 years i had Jimny Automatics the VED was high, but then fuel consumption was high even as standard, and if you lifted them and put the tyres needed for offroad getting mid 20's MPG on road was rare.

VW ID. 3 (rear wheel drive) :First Drive by Fully Charged. Youtube vid.
If everything in the world was as reliable as a Volkswagen the world would be in a worse state than it is now. Thank goodness for Japanese Car Manufacturers. Like with many muppets that you might give a jump start to, you tell them drive the car and let the battery charge, or go get it on a charger and they drive a bit and stop it rather than just keep on driving or going and getting it charged. Personally i would be parking it over the entrance to the dealership, gate or door and they can move it the next morning and move their backends in sorting it. How appropriate because if you get an ID.3 you might well be spending time driving a Nissan Leaf using a Taxi and being driven in one.

@Biilou2020 Where are you, and is it a country that got Mk3 Fabia without a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System as standard, or have you reset it or deleted ?- Tyre pressures
@Eccles The Wet season on Australia's Gold Coast must be hellish.- New Octavia 2020 vRS?
@old newbie2 I bought and sold as 'Disabled Persons Automatic Car' Ex lease Mini's the Metro's from 1980 after the first Motability ones were 3 years old and available to buy from a list or at Auction. I did not qualify for the scheme then as i never qualified long enough for Invalidity allowance and when i did get awards it was backdated. When i first got a Motability Car the limit was 12,000 miles a year which was less than my commute to work of 5 days a week, let alone more or using the car for family use. So i have always had other cars, and until a couple of years back had a 17 year old & 13 Year old one that i Bought using 5 years HP from Motability Finance. I had a 3rd car i bought with 5 years HP but when they ended the HP we were let off with just paying 4 years and the car was ours. So basically through the scheme i had leased 9 cars and bought 3 others, on my 10th leased one now. Now that i am not working i do not need cars sitting about getting used seldom so the cars i will want to work on sometime maybe are tucked up nicely for me or family if they want to drive them.- Video Suzuki Jimny vs Land Rover Defender.
Exactly what i was saying. Long Term loaner & 'Only a Jimny'. Now he has his own in Black, does he treat it as he treated someone elses?- Paint code
Did you not have the cars paint code when the Parts Person at the dealership told you there was no touch-up yet?- Video Suzuki Jimny vs Land Rover Defender.
Bank taken by surprise because a Car Reviewer is actually buying a car with their own money. Looks like eventually gets one, but will he Supercharge it? Looking forward to him taking his own one offroad and racing about and not worrying about damage as 'It is only a Jimny!'.- Cybertruck!
- New Octavia 2020 vRS?
@shyVRS245 I own a Mk2 Fabia. Apart from a few months a couple of years back i have owned Mk2 Fabias since 2012. & just for your information, i have never owned a SEAT Alhambra. Motability Finance did for 3 years and Arnold Clark have it for sale for 11 months since they got it and have never managed to sell it.- New Octavia 2020 vRS?
What i know for a fact is a lot of people claim to have remapped lease cars as nobody will actually know if they have or not they just have their word on it and if their rented car is some speed machine and they are just trying to be big and smart. Car is as they got it and goes back as they got it. Briskoda has various driving gods who post how they have blown off some sports car or fast car that the driver probably never knew they were in a race. Funny how they never say the left another Skoda in their dust, maybe because that driver might be on here and post that they never knew they were being challenged and they were just driving someplace.- New Landrover Defender are you up for one?
People moved on from running modern Land Rovers and got offroaders that were reliable for reasons just like this.- So I went and bought a Jaaaag
- New Octavia 2020 vRS?
What has any of that to do with someone leasing a car so not buying so not modding as they do not own it and just wanting the savings that they will get from HMRC with a car for using for work?- 17inch steel wheels 5x112..?
@Carlston The OP says. 'We've got load rated winter tyres for it, we just need a set of rims'.- service plan
Quoted £499 for the application of a product that costs under £50 including VAT. Lots charged for the labour of one on minimum hourly rate, then commission to a sales person and profit earned and tax paid by the dealership. Nothing to do with Scotland really, other than maybe like Sir Arnold Clark there might be those that know the price of things and the cost and value of getting them done.- service plan
@BRUN Great Service, if you complain enough and post on Trust Pilot they get back to you quick enough. Funnily calls go unanswered otherwise, not available, day off, we will get you a 2nd key, surely you got it on collection. No we can not code it, get it done at Parks Hamilton and we can pay for it. So a Service Plan you can purchase, and like the ones that you might get as part of the deal 'Free Gratis' but showing at a price with a used car. I got one of those last January, 2 Services, 2 MOTS. Car fails the first MOT on items it failed on the year before at AC and the new Springs and Discs were fitted and then a pass. The Service was a Oil Change and look see and charged for a new wiper that actually had nothing wrong with it. New Air Filter or even checked, no not by mileage, new pollen filter fited. no not needed, brake fluid, if you want to pay. anything else, no just the video and report. So it will not be in for it's next Service & MOT that the voucher covers . Sir Arnold never got where he did with his generosity, but he did get his Knighthood for services to Charities. The Motor Group rolls on without him and is just as it always has been. Scandalous. PS @shyVRS245 You are having a laugh about saving £800 I used to do car prep and Warranty Paint work for AC and others, even applying Life Shine. - Tire pressure fabia 3 helo
