  1. If it'll do it, it might be worth resetting its stop points. Wind the window up, then hold the switch in the up position for five seconds. Then wind the window down, and hold the switch in the down position for five seconds. Could just be crap/wear in the switch. Gaz
  2. Hello and welcome Lesley Gaz
  3. Agreed - sounds just like my car does; anti-hijack locking the doors at c.10mph. Can be switched off in the car's menu system. Gaz
  4. One of the very last Mk1's 😎, at my local Indy: Gaz
  5. Tracking checked/adjusted to sort the toe? Gaz
  6. Gaz replied to Gary1320's topic in Hellos and Goodbyes
Hello and welcome Gary, from another Gary Gaz
  7. Does it have a manual handbrake? I'm just thinking that pulling it on gently, while moving, might enable you to feel anything 'catching', clean the faces of the discs and might answer Steve and Ken's suggestions, whether they're new discs and pads or not. Pads loose and knocking in the carriers? Otherwise it's surely got to be CV, wheel bearing (possibly one roller breaking down, then getting hidden as it gets greasy again), the shield or ABS ring. Can't think what else it could be. Would a suspension bush sound like it's rotational? I could understand it being speed related, but not a tap tap tap. Does it do it if you bounce the car on the offending corner? Gaz
  8. A current toothbrush works just as well, just so long as it’s not yours 👍 G
  9. I get the same issue, but it's only algae, and comes off with soap, warm water and a decent brush. I've tried mould and mildew removers before, but some can have a detrimental effect on surrounding areas if they're strong solutions. Replacing the rubber will of course delay its return, but return it will if the conditions remain the same. Replacing an otherwise functioning and intact rubber is harder (IMO) than giving it a good wash. Gaz
  10. Some useful reading examples here (for Whitie, not you George! 😇) It's also worth being aware of the water pump thread if you're going down the diesel route: But as toot has already pointed out, there are lots of posts and threads on these points, and the Haldex being done properly, as oppose to just done (oil change) is one to note. The Briskoda search facility is surprisingly good for finding answers, and plenty of light reading 👍 Welcome aboard Gaz
  11. CSL anyone?: Gaz
  12. I'm quite familiar with changing brake pads, and changing the rear pads on my 2018 Golf GTI looks no more complicated than usual. It looks like you can change the pads without VCDS, simply by dropping the EPB gearbox off and winding the drive shaft (i.e. backing off) while compressing the piston back into the calliper. Has anyone done it, and is it that simple? Ta Gaz
  13. Yup 👍 18.9k posts makes you a troll?? 🤣🤣 Gaz
  14. Deleted as way OT - lost sight of what thread it's in. G
  15. Possibly the thread you're remembering: G
  16. My 2018 Golf had a bag in it (as did my 2015 vRS), which I removed. It was easy to find by putting my finger in the hole at the filler cap and fishing around. If you can't find it, I'd think it's probably not worth worrying about. No point in replacing a tank that doesn't have a bag in it. Gaz
  17. My 2018 GTI 230 needed new tyres at 16,500 miles, having been recommended to change them at 13,000 miles. These were Bridgestones (S001a's I think). I wouldn't have them again. I changed to Crossclimate 2's, which are today at 6mm, having covered 11,000 miles. 7,000 miles seems poor (unless you're a tarmac terrorist!) - did the garage suggest having your alignment checked, in case the 'poor roads' have knocked your tracking out, causing the wear? Gaz
  18. I'm on the fence, when some V8's are up in the rev range like that, I get that any-second-now-I'm-gonna-throw-a-rod feeling of angst 😧 Maybe it's me age - V12 for me G
  19. 'A teeny bit excited....': Definitely a Harry's car 😎 Gaz
  20. Spotted this little beauty this morning 😎: Brought a smile to my face as it was a lovely example. Gaz
  21. On our bedroom window when I opened the blinds the morning. I'd tell him/her they've got three weeks to go, but I guess the early bug gets the aphid, so as to speak 😇: Gaz
  22. Don't 'ya just hate it when something you want to be sceptical about works 🙄 Many years ago I had a particularly nasty ingrown toenail. My osteopath at the time wanted to treat it with acupuncture. My response was nope, as there was no way on god's green earth acupuncture made any sense in treating something as physical an injury. A couple of weeks later, with it getting worse, I yielded. Six treatments and just over a fortnight later it had completely recovered. Still doesn't compute to me. He said I could've expedited the recovery if I'd soaked it in urine, as he recommended, but I declined to do, even though I could understand the science behind that bit. Gaz
  23. My previous vRS Estate (2015) would take my XL e-bike (29" wheels) complete, albeit with the back seats down and a little bit of settling to stop anything rubbing. Laying down (of course) and diagonal, with the rear wheel by the back of the passenger seat, and the front wheel/handlebars over by the offside rear, tailgate closed. I never did it, because I'm a lazy git, but I often thought taking the floor side pedal off the pedal arm would make it fit better. Gaz
  24. 220 will be the EA888 TSI engine. There are plenty of explanations on the interwebnet to explain the differences between Tfsi and TSI. I quite like this one: https://vwtuning.co/volkswagen-tsi-vs-tfsi/ Gaz
