Hello Acoustic With the passenger door working okay, it kind of points towards a localised issue. It'd be worth checking diagnostics for fault codes, but I think my money would be on dry/cracked solder joints in the door lock control module. It's okay - we don't judge on here 😁 I think the answer is as others have alluded to, but just a heads up that some VAG cars can appear dry inside, but the water can collect under the carpet, between the floor pan and (or in) the sound deadening. Mk1 Superb's were notorious for it - the car appeared dry, but could hide gallons (literally) in the footwells. My Octavia got a bit musty, once or twice. The Aircon Bomb Gammyleg suggested resolved it both times (albeit I used a Comma version). Gaz

Hello Dan My Wife bought a Polo when we were last looking, but we really liked the Citigo/Up/Mii. It was her choice in the end. We're similarly disparate in stature, and while I like the Polo, I do find it a bit cramped after a while. Something I don't recall feeling in the Up we tried. Gaz

Thanks - and I'm a great believer in that particular law. My local independent garage said the same as you 👍 So I opted out of DIY. It was done a couple of weeks ago (Edit: I see from the 'What annoyed you' thread that it was actually 27 April ), and unless it's a placebo effect, the brakes do feel better. Gaz

Maybe swap the battery from the working fob, just to confirm it's not a battery issue? (Won't be the first time a new battery is duff). Battery in the right way around? Asking the obvious coz it's a skill I've finely honed over decades Gaz

Have you by any chance left the plastic sticker on one side of the battery? If key no.2 is nearby, it could account for some things working. My car told me I needed a new fob battery, but it was actually referring to key no.2 which was nearby. Gaz

That'll come back right as rain, and is how you should expect it to be. Be fussy if it doesn't though - I sent similar repair work back four times once before it was to my satisfaction. Good that they knocked on your door 👍 Gaz

My 2015 vRS TSI DSG averaged 29.5mpg over a measured 25,300 miles. For perspective, the majority of my vRS's travelling was four miles in 30mph stop-start traffic, doing home to work. So mine's probably a worst case scenario. A steady run would easily see early to mid 40's. Best tank was 42.4mpg. Gaz

Nope. I'm afraid my cynical old mind wouldn't take that for granted. That we latterly found out the 'integrity' of their evidence was 'incomplete' reaffirms my view. Gammyleg was issued an NIP for having allegedly been doing 58mph in a measured 50mph zone. Whether he was speeding, or not, elsewhere is irrelevant (IMO) to the NIP, but could be a factor if the evidentiary photos (and without other evidence) are not from the measured area. Quite so. Gaz

Hello Tim Briskly driven doesn't mean performance models at all. Those variants are more likely to be the minority in these parts. I'd think the 1.4 TDI is a cracking car to learn in 👍 Gaz

When my 2015 vRS's turbo grenaded itself and imploded, there was similar swarf and debris in the sump. The engine was stripped, but found to have survived the ordeal - the garage commenting as per J.R.'s comment. The oil pump was changed as a precautionary measure. Gaz

Maybe they re-installed the air vent hole on another car as part of its de-commissioning 🤣 Gaz
