Logical yes, but if the calliper is not moving freely on the carrier pins, then the piston in the calliper can produce more force (and therefore wear) on the inboard pads. Not always the case. or even common, but needs a visual check to confirm. Gaz

Odd if potentially low brake pads didn't get a mention at the MOT. My local MOT station is quite hot on it, and the main dealers are shameless in upselling new pads/discs at every opportunity. Could you have something trapped (a small stone?) that's causing the squeal? Or is it possibly a low pad wear squeal spring doing its job? An inspection and photos would be an interesting addition to this thread. As others have suggested, I'd be looking at the inboard side closely, once you've got the wheels off. Gaz

I went back to the dealership, asked them if they really thought it reasonable to expect rust at this point (because I didn't), provided them with some high resolution photo's, told them I'd already spoken with Trading Standards (I had) and asked them to re-submit before I considered my next steps, which was enough to galvanise a more acceptable response. Abso-blooming-lutely, and I still don't completely understand it. I get the Grandfather rights bit. But then can I buy a pre 2016 bike, gradually replace everything and still have a grandfather rights e-bike? It seems there isn't a definitive answer to this question And the new (i.e. post 2016) Wisper e-bikes can be specced, bought and used with a full (15.5mph) throttle. How does that work then? I know David Miall knows his stuff and put a lot of work and effort into this, so I've no doubt about its legitimacy, and the DVSA approval : Gaz

Without anything to suggest otherwise, they appear to be dithering and dragging their feet. I think if it were me I'd be telling them as such, that the time it has taken so far to resolve two fairly routine issues is unacceptable, and you are of a mind to reject the car, as it's pointless having a car you can't use. Maybe have a chat with your local Trading Standards, to talk through your options. Gaz

Yep, I've had a couple of these give up over the years 🙄 The last one being on the rear window of my very last CRX Del Sol. When stripped, the clip hadn't so much as broken as decomposed to a powder like quality that I could break up quite easily by hand. I'd say that was a good thing, but it's still small bits of plastic. Gaz
